So the students currently in place will be allowed to complete their program IF they decide stay. New intake is capped.

All the fast food places will have a difficult time stepping away from the TFW program punchbowl. You can go in the middle of no-where Canada and find them working at Tims or McDonalds.
437 K still to high..the goverment should drop it down to 140K per year like USA .. Daaa
We dont have any vacancies now but are going to allow another 420k students in as well as the annual immigration levels ? Where will they live ? Housing starts are down this year and these students are here to work not go to school
Agreed!

A study permit is generally issued for the time it takes to get your diploma. For university, that might be four years for example. For college it might be shorter depending on your program. So the students currently in place will be allowed to complete their program IF they decide stay. New intake is capped.
They should be deported
437K from 485k is not cutting or reduction, it is the same when you rounded off. More so, it is an addition to already more than one million IS in Canada
Do we even have places to live for already law-abiding CITIZENS? No. 400,000 more is outrageous, as each one will require a job & dwelling. Do we not have enough problems with foreigners being unhoused & on the brink of chronic poverty? It is obvious that the goal is not to help Canada but to help private pockets.

How about increasing the number of Canadian students in our colleges. I get worried when the University of British Columbia brags that 35% of its student body is foreign. I don't mind exchange students; that would provide for the education of an equal number of Canadian students.
Giving them work permits to take away jobs from Canadians
is what created the problem.
International students are the reason why Canadian students tuitions are lower. An international student pays on average 4x the rate per semester of a Canadian student. The University of Waterloo website publishes all the stats on the costs for International vs Canadian students and how many there are of each. It's one of the few university website that is transparent and presents the numbers.

Iranian professors in Canada are reportedly passing Iranian students without ensuring they are truly qualified, which is a significant issue. Many of these students come to Canada with their children, often without their spouses, to obtain visas more easily, knowing that the Canadian government provides financial aid for their kids. Once they arrive, they receive financial support for themselves and their children, along with other government assistance. Many of these students do not have a strong command of English, and some even pay to obtain questions for English exams or pay bankers to create financial documents to demonstrate stability. They may also work in informal jobs to avoid taxes while continuing to receive government support. This includes PhD students, as it's reportedly possible to buy degrees in Iran. Unfortunately, these students have brought the same issues and unethical practices from their home country into Canada, including a lack of genuine qualifications. These practices, along with the influence of Iranian professors, have negatively impacted Canada’s economy. It’s crucial for Canada to monitor these situations more closely and ensure that individuals entering the country are genuinely qualified, not just holding degrees on paper without real expertise.
@@susanfernandes7748exactly once universities want to take advantage from international students money they took the whole jobs for sur this is a mind games broo
its better to start taking interviews at the airport of new immigrants to know tht they came here by genuine means .. not by faking their education and exp especially the ones from india ..
Canadian citizens born in Canada are not getting jobs age 19 years or so. If they do then they are not getting full hours, international students have taken up the jobs. Work permit should not be given retroactively from January 2022. Bring in qualified IMMIGRANTS SUCH as SPECIALIST DOCTORS WHO CONTRIBUTE FROM THE DAY ONE AND NOT THE STUDENTS WHO EAT UP CANADIAN CITIZENS JOBS. Grave Housing Shortage, rents have gone up exponentially. Inflation is out of the roof. Survival has become a big challenge. No More students. Period.

Not only capping the international students won’t solve problems, need to limit immigration from abroad when we have a lot potential candidates within the country.

The Canadian government should closely monitor Iranian professors and students to prevent abuse of the system, ensuring students are financially capable and academically qualified. Those unable to pay tuition should be sent back before exploiting financial aid. Many asylum seekers, especially Iranians, falsely claim danger to obtain citizenship, only to return to their home country afterward. The government needs to prioritize its citizens and strengthen its system to prevent these abuses.

So Millar, ready to admit YOU are the problem and resign??

There's a reason why a lot of international students believe they'll get PR once they finish their schooling here, especially for a useless 2 year diploma. It's because others have succeeded with this route. In the last 8 years, a lot of international students got their PRs by following this route. I think what would truly make this fair is to also deport those who used this route in the last 8 years. I feel like 2015 was the last year where our country didn't feel this distorted.
