If the timeline aligned just right, a President could basically give himself/herself legal permission to impose his/her will without any fear of the law, should those justices be comprised. Not even then. The court is a separately created and governed, coequal branch of government within the constitution. Term limits for the court would require a constitutional amendment. Congress can pass whatever they want, and the court needn't necessarily abide by it, unless it's a statutory power granted to the legislature over the judiciary branch explicitly. It's doomed to fail, which makes the attempt even worse because it's obviously just an attempt to undermine the very foundations of the constitutionally established separation of powers that lie at the heart of our system of government. They're just trying to sabotage America with this.
This is the reason it is important to have a constitutional republic instead of a democracy.
On the one hand, a democracy is a political system in which the people periodically vote at the ballot box, and by a majority select their leaders. These rulers then have ABSOLUTE POWER to legislate whatever laws they please by a majority vote among themselves. Why not begin with Term limits for Congress and the Senate?
First, the Senate is half of Congress. Second, if you look at the current Congress, especially the House, the craziest elected officials, in both parties, are the newer ones. Not only are they extremists, but exert much more effort in causing spectacle, to get donations, than in legislating.
Until they have term limits for both houses of Congress I don't want to hear any proposals on term limits for the Supreme Court.
