For those tail lights in the volvos I always just remove that floppy circuit board thing from the tail lights that never make a good connection, and then solder wires right to the bulb sockets, and splice it directly into the car wiring. It is easy to do, and eliminates the constant issues they will give you. If you have no brake lights at all though, the bulb out indicator relay could have also failed and needed replacing.
I know this video is over a year old, so the issue is likely been sorted by now, but maybe this will help someone out there.

for the Volvo radio security code you need to call the number that is listed on the radio itself or I'm sure you can contact Volvo customer service and they can direct you to the correct department. There should also be a serial number on the radio unit assembly itself and you will need to provide the representative with that number so that they can retrieve the correct combination for your unit. Hope this helps!

Volvo’s are one of the best family vehicles in the world plus the safest. My childhood memories. My grandparents had two of them one Sedan and a coupe version. The coupe was a 242 Turbocharged blue interior and silver exterior. The sedan was maroon exterior with brown interior. 80’s memories.

a well kept secret, they were fun to drive, specially with the manual gearbox.

Sweet ride, man! I own a 1989 240GL myself. I live in Costa Rica and parts are hard to find for these cars here ... close to impossible. I have to get online to purchase any single part needed. Other than that, it is an amazing car. My other ride: MB W124 1989.

The foam gasket within the air intake box is likely decomposed. A thermostatic plunger element diverts intake source from the exhaust manifold shield - to the snorkel next to the driver headlight behind the grill.
I plumbed from the intake to the exhaust manifold with 2” copper tubing. Needed
    1- 2” st.45
    1- 2” 45 elbow
    1-2” 90 elbow
And; a 2” x 12” flexible exhaust piece attached to the exhaust shield take-off

    Nice find!
My parents bought an 84 240gl in the fall of 83 in northern VA over a 528e, and I took my driving test in it in 94 in Atlanta. Was a solid car. It was at the indy 4 or 5 times a year when it was needy. My Dad HATED it to the point of wanting to donate it to an artillery range. The cooling system was problematic and it had its share of electrical gremlins (brake lights not working, ECU failed). I drove it to High School and someone always hit the front or rear bumper (couldn't tell). My Mom loved the car, and they sold it to one of the techs that worked on it in 1997 for something like $1000 and it was garage kept.
Our family friends had w123s and I thought they were nicer cars. There was less body roll, the map pockets didn't break if you looked at it wrong. The ac seemed to be better and they were slightly faster. I remember their 85 300D needed a new turbo, valve adjustment, vacuum pump, half shafts, and something else to the tune of $7500 at RBM in 1994, which they happily paid.
There's another 240 and w123 story for ya...

A great car! Just one suggestion, you might want to get a camera stabilizing mount of some sort or at least don't whip the camera around so much. Slow and steady pans and tilts, hold on something or a few.seconds before moving on to show us something else. It will make for better footage.

If your temperatures aren't too severe...I'd remove the thermostat and keep the pressure cap on the radiator overflow tank loose or drill a hole in it...these.later models tend to over pressure their cooling systems...engine block cooling veins are narrow
