PATTAYA: Why don't you just HOP OFF? (& Hop-On Again!) NEW September 2023

  • There's a brand new Hop On Hop Off Bus Service in Pattaya. It's only been running for 5 days!
    There are two routes available, one with 9 or 10 stops which goes around Central Pattaya, and another that has more stops and goes further afield including Nong Nuch Gardens and the two Pattaya Water Parks.
    There is a promotional price of 800 Baht, although I've seen even better deals including just 300 Baht for Thai people!
    As it's a hop pn hop off service you can spend some time looking around and then just pick up the next bus. They run about an hourly service from 0900am through to the last departure of 5pm.
    There's a new, clean open-topped bus, so you can get some great views on a sunny day in Pattaya, Thailand.
    It's something mainly aimed at newcomers who want to get their bearings. But with an onboard commentary available in 6 languages, I learned some things even after living over 10 years in Thailand!

    September 2023 Price Update: They are now advertising FREE upgrade to a 2 day ticket for everyone, and "special rates" if you show a "Thai residence card or work permit".

    Nice vlog Peter, I would go just to sit in the top as you did and see things from a new perspective. Just saw one of these buses a couple days ago! Yes I would try and get a Thai friend to buy the tickets to save money - Haha They need to have family discounts and such to promote the business and get people excited about it.

      Thanks, Ric. They're obviously just getting this service established. We'll probably have to wait until high season to see if it's really viable or not. But as I saw the buses driving around, I thought I'll have to have a go. And yes, being outside and on the top deck was very pleasant!

    Feels expensive to me at 800 Baht. I wonder who will pay that especially with the annoyance of dual pricing in full effect. In actuality, I think the blue line might be a bit better for people who actually want to hit several more distant attractions. There could be some savings there versus private cars.

      @user-pn4tq8kk9j haha. If you watch the vlog you will see he said it is not aimed at people who live or are regulars there. Thai price seems fair and I could see that working for the tourists.

      Thanks, David. Definitely cheaper ways to get around town. I guess this is really aimed at first timers who might not be confident to get a taxi or know anything about the baht bus routes. It was nice sat on the top deck. Probably they'll settle on a price depending on the demand. Thanks again!

    In principle this is a great idea, especially the longer route which goes to places further away.
    But the pricing is just ridiculous. Quite shocking really.

    • @balloonchaser
      @balloonchaser  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks, Phil. I think it's not really aimed at us. They seem to be trying to cater for first time visitors, who wouldn't know about, or be confident to use, cheaper types of transport. It's a good way to get your bearings. Plus I can see tour groups using it. Anyway, as you say, great idea!

    BC did you edit out what the young lady told you to do with it. Seats did not appear to be overly upholstered. Good luck to them but unless they get a payoff from the attractions they drop people at, don't see it lasting long.

    • @balloonchaser
      @balloonchaser  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks, BB. You made me think of the numerous times Thai young ladies have told me what to do with it. And none of them were complimentary! Seats weren't that comfortable, but then again if you were getting off (and on) every few minutes I think it would be OK. As for if they can make a go of it, not sure tbh but I like to try and support anything new/different in these parts. Thanks for the comment BB!
