Help me out, here, as I am new back to the format. Was there a reason Vauter (sp?) didn't use the controlled Royal Assassin to destroy the tapped Hypnotic Specter while you were too tapped to cast a disenchant at 3:43? The Revised wording seems like it would be allowed. It may have been too little too late, but it seems like the right play. Also, was there a reason you didn't use the Royal Assassin to destroy his tapped Serendib Efreet at 6:44 after you regained control of it after casting the Disenchant? Again, maybe this is due to my misunderstanding of Revised Control Magic.
Hi Robert, thank you for the question. At 3:43 the royal is taken over by the blue player. It has summoning sickness again the moment it comes under control of another player. So he can’t use it yet. The same goes for the other example. Hope this clarifies the situation 👍
@@TimmytheSorcerer Thanks, it does. I've got a fourth edition of Control Magic that reads: "Gain control of target creature." Does this card play the same way as the Revised edition? How would I know about the summoning sickness? Also, I appreciate your channel very much. Keep it up.
Hi Robert, it actually has nothing to do with the wording on control magic, but with the summoning sickness rule. "Summoning sickness. Summoning sickness is an informal term for the rule that a creature cannot attack or use activated abilities either with the tap ( ) or untap ( ) symbol if it has not been continuously controlled by a player since the beginning of that player's most recent turn." - mtg.gamepedia.com/Summoning_sickness Hope this helps and thank you for supporting the channel.
Hello Timmy, I'm legit going through your entire channel while at work and sometimes at home. Love the old school magic, it was what I started with and I love reliving the memories. I thought of a card last night and would like if you could create a deck or respond to this if you know in any of your videos if anyone ever used it. But can you make a deck with the card "Lich" in it, from A, B, or U? I've never understood how this card works, and even when I tried to look up combos for this card, it still doesn't make sense to me. So if you gain life, you draw cards, and if you lose life, you have to sacrifice permanents yet some of the combo's I've read online I'm like...that doesn't make sense to me. Example Ad Nauseam card from Shards of Alara with Lich, for infinite card draw, yet how you draw a card, and lose life to the converted mana cost, so wouldn't you have to destroy permanents that you own? Very weird.
Hi Jami, the game goes pretty fast (it’s x2 speed). At 16:40 I play Lions number 4. At 16:49 I take the turn again (untap plains) and attack that turn. 👍
Hi Joseph, the deck runs 4 Lords, 4 Pearl Tridents, 4 phantasmal, 4 efreets, 4 unstable and 4 control magic (I think). Not sure if he plays with counterspells, but I assume it’s in there (being mono blue). Hope this helps a little 👊
@@TimmytheSorcerer certainly! Two drops bring to mind, I'm currently testing Cumbajji Witches as a sideboard card for black mirrors matches, kills pump knights or if two on the field can kill a hippie or black Knight too. So maybe nice additional board control, since the kill spells are often non black? What do you think?
Cumbajji Witches rule, a 1/3 for 2 is very strong in the format. It can also block and kill factories if you decide to block and tap the witches for that extra dmg. Furthermore, the card itself is beautiful.
@@TimmytheSorcerer true! I saw an alter of the card online and thought that "hey that's kinda busted in black midrange, why doesn't this see more play?" Then immediately ordered a playset! :D
Hi Romain, thanks for your feedback. The Lord is a Merfolk under the new ruling as is Goblin King. When you have multiple lords in play they pump each other.
please flip the video streams in post, the videos would be a lot easier to watch
Hi Mighty, I’ve actually tried, but it looks somewhat odd 🤔 I’ll keep tweaking and see what I can do.
@@TimmytheSorcerer I was thinking same thing as this guy since it's not side to side, hopefully u find a better way. Good videos!
@@xxxvulturexxx and @mightyfp , I've flipped the screen on my latest vid. Do you think it's an improvement? th-cam.com/video/GJxP3cGals4/w-d-xo.html
I love seeing those old school combos, very nostalgic
Great game

@@TimmytheSorcerer Thanks. So the same would be true of Preacher, Old Man of the Sea, or similar cards?
@@rkleopold , I believe so, yes.

Thanks Patrick 🙌 Lich is pretty insane. Unfortunately, I don’t own the card, but there’s a match coming up with Lich in it in Feb.
Cuáles son las reglas de este formato??? Gracias!
Hi Matias, we just love to play with revised only brews and we use the Swedish banned and restricted list. So only 1 twist, 1 balance etc..
One of the lions had summoning sickness at the end?

Atog is pretty deece two drop as well ;)
Absolutely true, Atog is great and well loved in red/brown aggro builds.

Clone would have helped the blue deck :) Anyways, well played
That’s a good point Richard. Cloning those Lords... 😱😱😱
Great idea!! Will work on that one thanks 👌🏼
Lord of atlantis is not a merfolk so they were 2/2 not 3/3 Nice match However
