I have a combined 4 years of experience as a Baseball & Basketball Play by Play announcer, which is where I learned my skills for commentary/breakdowns.

Posting this comment from the Tulane-USC video here as well: Wanted to make another comment about the use of skycast for highlights since I continue to see a lot of comments about it. Unfortunately, this seems to be the only way that the video can be posted, as both the main feed & main announcers (audio) get blocked when posting. I know it's not everybody's favorite choice, but this seems to be the only option. I appreciate all of your support, and wish you all a happy new year!

What a deja vu season for the Utes. Last year they had to beat Oregon twice before advancing to The Rose Bowl where they lost to Ohio State (after losing starting QB Cam Rising to an injury during the game). This year they had to beat USC twice before advancing to The Rose Bowl where they lost to Penn State (after once again losing Cam Rising to an injury).
Penn State was a better team tonight regardless

As a life long PSU fan it was really nice to see Penn St lock in on a game like this. It seemed like they progressively got more competitive and hungry as the game went on. In many other big games it seemed like we struggled to do that. We’d either lose focus late game or not be determined at all. Hoping to see more of this in 2023!
Totally agree. I was at the game and was very happy to see Penn State come out ready to play. It was rocking the entire game in the PSU section.

From an Oregon fan, have to say Utah looked limp against Penn States defense. A lot of blitzing by Penn St. on the edge and up the middle. Pressure, pressure, pressure. That's what did it.
As a Michigan fan and a B1G supporter, I just want to say how proud I am of Penn Sates win and the B1G as a whole. thank you penn state for making us proud and showing that this conference, despite the lack of support received from outsiders, has been better than people give it credit for. Ohio State played amazing against "big bad" Georgia and should of won that game. Illinois hung around and should if beat a falsely ranked Mississippi State team. The other B1G teams played well with the exception of Purdue. I am sorry Michigans coaching staff decided to hand the semi-final away.

I'm actually more surprised that Georgia made it to the national championship game after losing half of their defense to the first round of the NFL last year. Coming back from being three scores down and beating Ohio state was a big achievement, they are the real deal. I was disappointed that Purdue did not put up a fight against LSU. That made our conference look bad

I was saying that Franklin needed to go out and win this game to call it a successful season and that’s exactly what he did. It’s been what feels like ages where Franklins Nittany Lions actually looked like they were very well prepared to handle a quality top ten opponent. The big key here was that although Penn State had some issues early on against Utah’s ground game, the offense wore them down, and Clifford played the best game I’ve ever seen him play. He took a few unnecessary sacks, but he looked confident throwing deep to his receivers, and it certainly helped having Singleton on that one play where he broke into open space and took off down the field on that one run. The offense didn’t stall out in the second half and found ways to put points on the board. This is a program win for Franklin, hopefully he uses it to do even better and he goes out and beats either Ohio State or Michigan next season.

Penn State took Utah behind the woodshed for a good beat down at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball the second half. After they gave Cam Rising some, PSU gave Utah's backup QB some too!

But at the UofU it has been taken to the extreme in many of the leftist agendas. It is annoying and sad and I was happy for Penn State to get the win.

PSU just thrashed Utah in every aspect of the game. Allen and Singleton were just leveling defenders running over them and through them. But the good news is "the good Clifford" showed up for his last game. It'll be interesting to see a final ranking.
It was 21-14 when Cam Rising went down....the only "thrashing" that happened was after we had no hope to win. There's always that groupie fan that sounds ignorant AF, you are that person today. Our prime defenders declared for the draft and weren't playing, Allen and Singleton were running through backup's. Enjoy sounding derp derp there Kenny boy.....

They got in because the Pac-12 cannibalized itself again. The conference has hardly won anything major since the 2016-17 season. The only NY6 bowl win for them since that year was Oregon's Rose Bowl triumph over Wisconsin in 2019-20, and the only other big one I can think of they won without major opt outs involved is Washington State's Alamo Bowl victory over Iowa State a few years back. Hands down the weakest Power Five conference in the last decade or so.

It shocked me because I was so sure that Utah was better than us after how physical they looked against USC in the pac 12 championship. In the beginning it showed, we were getting blown off the line of scrimmage on defense when trying to combat the run, but as we put points on the board, Utah appeared to abandon the run game and go to the air which didn’t work out for them too well.

Honestly watching as a Penn State fan, it actually shocked me how bad your defense was at times. I was so sure that you guys were eons better than us, but there were times where on big plays Penn State had receivers open by about 10 yards on all sides.

Most of these non playoff bowl games don't mean much. Some teams have starters sitting out. Don't put to much conference comparisons based on these games.

Honestly, I saw Rising trying to run on that play where he got smacked by three penn state dudes was likely a concussion seen on 5:55, in my opinion. After that bad decision run play he couldn’t throw the ball accurately afterwards seen on 6:11.

Both! However, at this level it starts with the Coaching and support staff (Trainers, Dr.s, Nutritionist, even the equipment people). Players try to execute the plan and plays, but when you have more talent - 8 out of 10 times you'll win with just the talent alone.
P.S. It REALLY BAFFLES ME in the NFL... they're supposed to be drafting and selecting the cream of the crop (each team), yet teams still get blown out at times.

Oregon State was a 14th ranked team (9-3 record) playing with a pretty full compliment of players while struggling Florida was unranked, with a dismal 6-6 record, starting their third-string QB who hadn't hardly played all year, so the match-up was a joke to begin with, AND, in my opinion, Florida shouldn't have even played in a Bowl Game.
OSU's victory was all, but guaranteed, and not a game worth boasting about.

How degrading is it to have a PAC-12 team that does not have this stadium as a home come to defend it and end up losing bad to another conference team? It would have been closer, but PSU would have worn out the Utes. The D was starting to get to Rising and that would have continued throughout the remainder of the game. Plus Clifford was hot.
