  • Two of the biggest former “road players” in the 1990s, Keith McCready and Jimmy Wetch faced off at the 2003 Derby City Classic 9-Ball Division at the Executive West Hotel in Louisville Kentucky.
    Jimmy “The Kid” Wetch saw his career peak in the early 1990’s but was coming back into the Pro Pool scene after a couple year break.
    Known in the pool world as “Earthquake” or “Keither with the Ether”, Keith McCready will always be known as Grady Seasons, from the Color of Money movie. McCready was a crowd favorite no matter who or what game he was playing.
    Bill Incardona and special guest Shawn Putnam were on commentating duty for this one.

    Keith is my favorite to watch. Sure, there are better technicians, but for raw talent,he is a rare bird. His pace of play and his technique are hypnotizing. McCready represents the crest of a high and beautiful wave of old school players that, at this time in history, was beginning to recede into obscurity. This video is important as I think it is reminiscent of the time where Keith was at his zenith of ability and, by most accounts, unbeatable.

    Keith is beyond human ..... nearly perfect pool. I didnt get to see him in his younger years, but have seen him "reach a gear" and you can kinda see how great he was. I havent seen in play in years, but I am thankful I got to see him at the Derby City Classic in the early years.

      I new Keith in his early twenties and when he got into rhythm most sets dissolved into a show. What I found most interesting was how much fun he was having. Win or lose Keith was the same. And Keith talked a lot of BS to get people to match up, but it was never personal, it was always about the guys game. I’ve seen him make outs in one pocket that were near impossible. Eight, two or three rail banks in a row!
      In my day players had their own style and character.

      Tells me your level of play right there.
      Strickland made shots that other pros shook their
      heads and said, "I can't do that, Earl."

    Keith is one hell of a shooter for a guy who's fast and jumpy on the table with his technique. An excellent clinic of 5-0 lead there. And during the 6th rack I honestly think he shouldn't have hit the 5 to the 8 that hard to make it. A slight bump with a better slower shot would've done fine

    Keith is always fun to watch. He takes no time on his shots and most of the time he gets position. I hate though when they wipe their sweaty hands on the cloth, on the bed and rails. 😫 Use a towel for crying out loud.

    There's no doubt McCready is a great pool player, but when he played Efren Reyes in Vegas he turned to him after a shot and said "what do you think about that, little man?" I started to hate him.

    • @dingdong7610
      @dingdong7610 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      He does that to everyone he doesn't know. He plays for money, thats how they played back then, especially. Efren then was just another guy to most guys over here back then.

      @@jadezee6316 - I guess. It's a bullshit way to win, however. I don't respect it. Just play pool.
