Fiona Sampson announces the winners of 2022’s Keats-Shelley and Young Romantics Writing Prizes.

The Prizes have two categories: Poems and Essays.
The theme of 2022’s poetry competition is ‘Elegy’, to mark the bicentenary of Percy Bysshe Shelley’s death in Italy. Essayists can write about any aspect of the Romantics and their circles. The Keats-Shelley Prize is open to all. The Young Romantics is open to anyone aged 16-18.
Fiona Sampson is a poet, biographer and broadcaster. Her poems have been shortlisted for both the TS Eliot and Forward Prizes. Her biographies include acclaimed lives of Mary Shelley and Elizabeth Barrett Browning. Her latest book is Starlight Wood, which follows in the footsteps of several Romantic poets, painters and composers (including PB Shelley) to explore how they were shaped by the rural world.
