Do you know if I can get the gear that turns the internal potentiometer that indicates direction on control box my rotator turns but does not indicate on the control box the gear rotted away

Can I use a Yaesu GA-650 rotator control and pair it with a Kenpro KR400 motor?

Hi there what is the voltage on the secondary of that little power supply inside the controller?

I actually want to know what the voltage should be on the secondary winding of a yamato ys-130 controller

Hi Gerhard, the voltage on the output should be around 30vAC

Thank you for this video showing the internal parts of my rotator that I'm going to disassemble.
Which kind of grease you suggest when there are plastic gears ?

Hi Paolo, your KR-400 will not look exactly like the one in the video, as I have done a lot of upgrades mine.
Regarding grease, when you have totally stripped down the rotator & cleaned up ALL the old grease, (do not add new grease to old grease, as they will react & cause more problems).
I use & so did Kenpro/Yaesu, Molybdenum Disulfide grease better known as Moly, it is the same stuff used in CV joints of front wheel drive cars. regards Peter

      Thank you for your answer.
So my choose for an old big CDE rotator has been correct.
Now I was worried about a sort of compatibility with the plastic gears. So, according with your experience, you can confirm that moly grease doesn't degrade the plastic gears.
      Thank you again. Regards. Paolo.

Hi Paolo, In all the years of refurbishing rotator I have never seen grease stuff up plastic gears.
I have seen dried up &/or sticky crap & hard grease stuffing up even steel gears, but that is more to do with slack / lack of maintenance or the mixing of different grades/brands of greases causing a reaction. Regards Peter

@@duoro-rotators Hello Peter, me again. I don't know your e-mail address or your call, so I write to you here, on YT for a suggestion, please.
I have opened my Kenpro KR400-RC: the motor is ok, gears ok, potentiometer is ok too (I can read values on both sides and the sum is always about 500 ohm) but the position is not detected by the control box.
I don't know this kind of rotator. If I power on the control box without the rotor, the dial hand rotates clockwise without ever stopping: is it a normal behavior?
I thought that when the value of the two potentiometers became the same, the control box motor would stop and restart only to keep the value of its potentiometer locked to that of the rotator; unfortunately it doesn't happen. I tried to move the rotator potentiometer manually, but nothing changed.
I had to turn the control box potentiometer backwards to avoid tangling the wires behind it...
Is it that one a normal behavior for the control box without the rotator? TNX in advance. 73s.

@@IK8XOO--Paolo Hi Paolo, Yes if the rotator is not connected to the RC controller (it has no reference from the rotator) so the display needle normally turns to the (CW) right but normally stops @ about East.
Your RC controller may have circuit component problems or the 500 ohm POT in the controller is faulty or someone has played around with the two trim POT's on the PCB.
Note for the RC controllers terminal 1 (one) for the control cable is not used, so you only need 5 core cable cable (using 2,3,4,5&6). If you can find a working standard panel metered controller similar as in my video, too check & align your KR-400 rotator.
You can also contact me via my Duoro Services web site kur02.com.au. Peter.

thanks for the video, very helpful, i have a question or 2. what is the capacitor you use? can i have the spec, because im in the uk, and shipping will be a bitch, im going to start the microswitch modification, i have the switches, but do you have a wiring diagram please. plus im struggling to find a 4th gear

Hi Darren, thanks for the comment :-
The motor start CAP I use, is removed from the controller & installed into the rotator.
However if you have the very early version controller, the motor start CAP (AC50L100) is to big to install into the rotator, I salvage the smaller CAP (AC60L100A) from later version controllers or I use a new replacement CAP I got a hold of.
For further information, please get in contact with me (Peter of Duoro Services) via my web site (which is in the description of the video), regards Peter
