Kevin, back in the day of bias-ply tires rears had traction tread, fronts were straight tread. If you put "fronts" on the rear you would get stuck easily. The trade off was in ride and noise. Straights ran smooth and quite(kind of like modern passenger tires), traction or rears(Truckers would call these drives) were noisy(much like running Groundhawgs all around a 4X4). Old timers often told youngsters "steers to rears" when rotating tires.

I love these kind of videos! A couple of my buddies and I used to “rescue” vehicles like this back in our late teens to mid 20’s back in the early 90’s. We would ride around on back roads looking for cars sitting in the weeds that obviously weren’t driven or cared about anymore, and usually scoop them up for $500 or less (usually less). More often than not, we were told that they didn’t run and either tell us to make an offer, or throw a price out there and we’d negotiate from there. I was the mechanic of the group and 99% of the time, I could troubleshoot them, get them running and drive them out of there. There were even a few times that we were told we could HAVE them if we got them out of their yard. Barrett Jackson (as much as I live watching it) has killed that now though because everyone thinks their rusted out, non running shitbox is worth 6 figures because they saw a remotely similar one go for that on BJ 🙄. One of my favorites was a ‘77 Pontiac Grand Prix with the 350 Pontiac (big block) and Quadrajet. Was told it didn’t run, and I got it for $200. Threw some new plugs and wires in it, along with a fresh battery and gas, and drove it out of there boiling smoke off the back tires.
Pontiac fans will argue there is no such thing as a big block Pontiac...however...their last V8 was the 301 that evolved from the 303 planned for the Trans Am, which was a Pontiac 400 running a lower deck height. so theoretically, the 301 was the small block Pontiac V8.

Hoarding situations break families and let people lonely and away from the world. However, the weird side is when they passed away, the family is usually so tired that they just sell everything for nothing not even knowing the magnitude of the things collected. Just for the next owners step in in farms with an unimaginable quantity of individual items, like brand new toilet papers at the back seat of one of the 30 cars forgotten (like how it ended there?).. just amazing (and a bit sad) how our brain can work
This just keeps getting better and better but I have to tell you. YOU HAVE TO START THE COMBINE AND HOON IT AROUND. Also God bless you for taking care of your folks and Friends.

My father did something odd to increase the fuel capacity on our old Chevy truck, the second tank filled when you filled the first. I'm wondering if something similar was done to this truck, because you didn't find a convenient way to fill the second tank.
This place you're at reminds me of my great uncle's old place. He still owned every vehicle he had ever owned, from a trio of WWII Willys Jeeps, to an early 90's Ford 1 ton with a Powerstroke. Included several old tractors, though I know little about those. The old house supposed to still have several hundred old guns buried in the rubble, the "new" house in the back was packed full of shit, as was the two shops and dozen or so 53 foot trailers scattered around. In every building, there were walking paths carved through the piles. He refused to get rid of any of it. Believe me, I tried for years to convince him to sell me one of those Jeeps. He was tougher than all the iron laying around too. He survived World War 2, The MLK Riots, and in the 90's was shot 5 times by some gang bangers. He outlived those gangbangers by another 10+ years, and was damn near 90 when he died of the family tradition of a massive heart attack. In his 80's, he built another shed on his land to store yet even more stuff, by hand. Then he tore down two old Farmall tractors, pulling the rear of one that had a PTO and attaching it to another that had a running (sorta) engine. Never got it finished though, I think he was missing some stuff that just isn't available any more. I know when he died his son kept the three Jeeps, but the rest I have no idea what happened to it all.

Dude, that’s like the earliest edition of square body style. It’s probably worth a fortune. This video series is awesome, you guys found the dream honey hole. I’m happy to see these vehicles being saved.
its also a factory big block, which is a unicorn...i want it
"No spark!" Holding the coil end of the coil wire LOL
Yes. This part made me stop believing. Was it accidental? Was it a second take because someone forgot to film? Who knows, but you won't get spark if the coil is unplugged.
The poop smell from the camper may have had some physical side effects after all 😂
My brain was like, "wait, what?!" haha, yeah, definitely operating on less sleep... OR Kevin was seeing how many of us actually pay attention :P or if he's a true master mechanic, it was both... like the father of modern Shotokan Karate. To achieve your goals sooner, you must try softer. - Gichin Funakoshi
@@bustersgarage I was laughing my ass off. I know you guys know better.
@@JunkyardDigs You'll get that on those big jobs LOL
Hoarding situations break families and let people lonely and away from the world. However, the weird side is when they passed away, the family is usually so tired that they just sell everything for nothing not even knowing the magnitude of the things collected. Just for the next owners step in in farms with an unimaginable quantity of individual items, like brand new toilet papers at the back seat of one of the 30 cars forgotten (like how it ended there?).. just amazing (and a bit sad) how our brain can work
And also from one veteran to another I appreciate your service
I love it how you were testing for spark from the distributor instead of the coil, very smart lol
I noticed that brainfart too haha.
This just keeps getting better and better but I have to tell you. YOU HAVE TO START THE COMBINE AND HOON IT AROUND.
Also God bless you for taking care of your folks and Friends.
When was the last time you saw brake fluid in a steel can???
It was nearly 40 years ago for me !!!
Glad to hear all your family are ok after the tornadoes
Best wishes for all those affected
I hope for a speedy recovery for you all
This would be the most fun great time ever Camping out, working on cars and getting them ready for sale.
Guys, thank you! I found your channel by accident and it reminded me of helping my dad rebuild cars. I love it!
Love that truck! Glad to hear everyone is ok after storms.
I'm glad all your family are okay after all these tornadoes whipped through. Mele Kalikimaka from your friends here in Hawai'I.
15:19 Checking for spark with the wire disconnected from the coil 😂😂
that’ll do’er
Hey ya can't win em all😂
Ha....we've all been there
Gotta keep content up. Can't just have it fire right off that'd be annoying
454 and a good looking truck, that things a keeper for sure. It may just be me but I like all the accessories
Wish i had a truck like that over here in the Netherlands. Great stuff guys!
love all of the mods he had on all of his vehicles. Good job on the revival JYD crew.
Great video guys you did a great job. That truck with a little more TLC will be best truck you have done by far. Thanks for posting I look forward to those Monte Carlos videos. I had a 1977 and the drive fantastic.
Don't care what anyone says those are some well loved and beautiful trucks!! ❤
I think it's great to see there are people who can do stuff with the legacy of these people! Happy to see things are not totally going to waist!
I'm busy the next 2 weeks getting better from a flu! So I have some time to watch you guys! I don't know a thing about cars just that all mine were red! 😃
Are you ok now?
This is the first time I've noticed the older oval tail light chevy. We need to know more about that one! Be safe!
I would have been excavating for those guns.
@@vhfgamer Only with an axe and a good pistol in hand. Plenty of snakes lived in that pile of rubble.
@@drg5352 That's fine with me. I'd catch the snakes too. In my world, seeing a snake is like seeing a fifty dollar bill or hundred dollar bill slithering across the ground.
Be really cool if y’all tried your hand at the combine in the back. Definitely would like to see a video on it if there’s any possibility of it!
Congratulations on finding one with a wood bed!
That truck just makes me smile. It's so over the top its awsome.
Man, I’d love to find a barn full of cars and trucks like that. I have several projects lined up to get running, but once I get them all running I’m going to have to find something else, because the fun part for me is getting a vehicle running that has been sitting a long time. I can’t wait to see all the other vehicles you get back on the road from there. I’m really looking forward to seeing your video on the Monte Carlo you showed at the end of this video.
A. Lovin this series, freekin awesome
2. Wanna be there!!!!!
Oh man, I can so imagine just crawling through everything, finding that next new packet of screwdrivers..
Glad you're family is ok. That was some crazy storms.
Between the S-10 and the 454 C-10, this is "by far" the best series on JYD!
Gotta love the Corsica hubcaps on the S-10! This guy was something else, you know he was a character!
Been waiting fo this video. I love this projects u guys are doing :) Kevin is the best creator on youtube!!
Glad your parents/family and friends are safe and sound Kevin. Idk gow your energy level is still up after all that work lol. Great video as usual man. Keep up the amazing work!
Kevin: How did you make it crank
Angus: shake the wheel up and down
also Kevin: why did that work?
Entertaining vid. Tip from a 50 something year old mechanic: Always check Transmission fluid BEFORE putting it in Drive (or any other gear). You're really lucky if you didn't toast that Turbo 350 tranny by sitting there revving it in Reverse & Drive while dry of any fluid. PS (Always check trans fluid with engine running)
That would have th the 400 in it
