One good way to do it is by putting two pieces of sheet metal under each side, with grease in the middle. It is what is done when raising aircraft on jacks so the tires don't grind across the floor (the last thing you want is a flat spot when you are landing at around 150 knots.) instead, the tires grip the top piece of sheet metal, which glides over the bottom one. A setup like this would alleviate the friction problem.

Ever since watching strongman, I always wondered what it was like to deadlift tires. Well now I work for a commercial tire service shop, and just one tire is super heavy. I can now appreciate what Brian is doing because now I have the idea of how much just one tire feels like. I mean we use bars to help lift the tire on to the studs. I can't imagine 6 plus the bar, or 8 like he's done.

High Brian. I'm a big fan and am enjoying seeing your progress. When you mentioned working out something for a platform for the tire deadlift, I thought you might like this idea. Plywood base and teflon coating for a smooth top. Would also be a good idea to have some wheel chocks built into the top so it doesn't roll of the platform completely.

Brian, I suggest you put a 1/2" sheet of ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene under each side of the deadlift platform. UHMW is commonly used as a bearing surface because it is so slick, think of it as a giant sheet of teflon. I would put money on it that the arnold classic uses the same material under their hummer deadlift.

Great video! Nice seeing you go to "that place" as Tyler puts it so eloquently! Some observations:
    - The day you decided to have Tyler come to the other side of the camera was a great day. Seeing "the voice of Brian's training" come around and work so well in front of the camera took things to another level.
    - Another workout where the intensity level is amped way up. Like the last log press video, seeing how serious you're taking this makes fans know something great is coming at WSM.
    - That last DL... having the bar not move those first split seconds can break confidence. You stuck right through it and destroyed the lockout! A great reminder to never stop pulling.
Doubt there are many anime geeks here, but if Tyler needs any side work, he would be perfect for Dragon Ball Z voiceovers. Not sure how he does all that yelling and survives to yell another day.
This was a great motivational video to have before the weekend... thanks for that!

uhmw polyethylene is great stuff for durable, high compression applications. It is used in thick sheets to slide along the hulls of boats. Maybe it could be a good material for the bottom of your tire lifts!
