  • During the past Christmas holidays I found myself watching a lot of @SarahHomfrayEmbroidery
Inspired by her great tutorials, I developed an interest in embroidery using: French wires, glass beads and different types of embroidery threads.
This year I have given myself a personal challenge to teach myself how to embroider. The plan is to create at least one holiday ornament each month for the entire year of 2022 and document as much of my journey as possible.
This is my first attempt. A little winter cottage made of plain cotton with a pink front door, a snow covered roof and holiday decorations made from glass beads.
To protect the hand embroidery I backed the cottage with grey board and mount it on felt which I wrapped in matching fabric.
I wasn't sure how the ornament should have been mounted so I made it up as I went allow. If you know of any better solutions, please, leave me a comment. I would defiantly like to know if there are betters options.
Admittedly, my winter cottage did come out a bit wonky and that's ok. As with all of my sewing projects its more about the sewing journey and staying in the creative moment to enjoy the process of making.
I hope that you enjoy this new sewing adventure.
Sending you happy, healthy, creative vibes.
    Wayne

    ---A bit about myself
I’m Wayne. Pleasure to meet you. As an American designer, I moved to Germany to marry my husband about 13 years ago. Here we live with our beloved corgi Truman ( he traveled with me from the states, someone needed to hold my hand 😉) and our two crazy kitties 🐈‍⬛ Elvis & 🐈 Lilly. They all like to pop up in the films for time to time, so be on the look out for those ears!

I have so many of them left over from another project. Doing my best to make good use of them. Need something beaded? 😁

These beads are a bit heavy for a tube top, but I’ll happily add some shoulder straps while I’m at it 😝
