I hardly ever went to concerts when i was younger. In 2004 I went to see these guys an hour away by myself since none of my friends had even heard of them or cared for this kind of music. One of the best concerts I've been to.
Larry is amazing & his precise and reserved playing is what makes Pelican as rock-solid as they are. Used to be a lot of people throwing shade at his playing in TH-cam comments, but I never agreed & always thought they missed the point.
Well I compare all the time so if you dig slow brutal post/hardcore i can recommend "Omega Mastiff" and "Back When" (although the last band have some vocals). Nevertheless both of this bands are heavy as fuck and if you are into more doom then "Batillus" is a must. Personally I find russian circles to melodic and without the hate i want in my music. Death come to us all 🤘

"The Woods" is probably their best title ever. I even love the inconsistency of the drummer.

I always associate "The Woods" with the woods in Twin Peaks. It sounds like the natural soundtrack for that location.
