Hi Scott! I’m in California and am 73 years old! I have 26 tarantulas and have raised them from slings, started in January of 23! I just purchased 4 more small slings and really like your advice on how to take care of them! Thanks! I’ve done ok with slings but did loose 2 at the beginning , but learned from the mistakes I made! 👍🏻
Hello Scott! I’m from Canada, I’m 18 years old and I’m planning on adopting my first tarantula soon. Your videos are a huge help, and I always look forward to seeing a video of yours. Thank you so much for helping new enthusiasts ❤ you’re wonderful
Just unboxed my first T and realised just how small this little thing was, and that whilst I knew what I was doing with an adult, I still had questions about slings. This video answered all of them (how to water, getting fruit flies into a small container). Cheers, guy!
So cool. I guess we have our ways of raising them. I always find it interesting, and see what works for some, and not for others. Anyway cool footage, Scott 👍
Love the enthusiasm of your videos. Always nice to see people bursting with happiness for their hobby. Only have 2 slings in sling pots at the moment, both D. pentaloris. I then have the rest in the small 180ml round tamperproof tubs. I just find keeping the substrate in the right way easier in those tubs. Can’t wait til part 2 👍🏼 Laughed when you avoided feeding the OBT as “you know what will happen” 😂😂
Oh also - fruit flies. I found 5 minutes in the fridge, pretty much slows them so they can be tipped into tubs and pots without being too mobile works well.
Only have 2 atm lol that number will increase lol, a few people said the fridge for 5 or 10mins, the reasons I don’t is because there not cold in the wild and the flies movement is more dramatic while warm and could cause the spider to more readily take the fly
@@ScottsInverts yep i agree. what ive found though is when i use the fridge - they slow the flies for a couple of minutes then they are back to normal speed, so it just gives me a chance to move them from pot to pot before they go manic :)
Great tip for the fruit flies. We were using cricket legs for ours, but will get some fruit flies to try. Do the slings easily catch the flies? Also didn't realise they would eat springtails. Do the springtails just stay alive if not eaten and are the fine to be left in there? We seem to have a varying size of slings, some will eat small live crickets, and some prefer them dead. How long do fruit flies last for as only have a few that would require them?
Flies last up to week the culture can last 3-4 weeks sometimes longer, it’s a natural feeding response with live fruit flies so they get caught it’s cool to watch a tiny sling take a fruit fly down.
That pot is fine and it depends on where the sp of spider is from, for eg. If a spider is from a part of africa that it dry all year then we need to reflect that with our care, but If it's from a rain forest it will be much damper. Slings damp not wet tbf
Today i revieved my first tarantulas trinidad chevron and brazilian blue the trinidad is 6cm which shocked me at first he tried to escape bruhh and the blue is 1cm so tiny i was so scared to even water it

Moist back at ya lol
AWESOME video mate I noticed you managed to squeeze the FAMOUS MOIST word in a few times lol AWESOME keep them cool videos coming
Hahaha you moist started on one of our lives months back, so a little nod to all those who join the lives here bro
@@ScottsInverts AWESOME
I'm new to ts how moist for substrate? My last t died as too wet I think. Also is a 10cm high pot ok for 2cm arboreal like amazon sapphire?

Hi, what if I can't find the deceased feeder in my sling enclosure? they are so tiny it is often difficult to see them, thank you :)
I've waited and as soon as u see white mold that's normality the dead food but If u can find it before then it's much better
hi all, I love the fact you don't assume everyone knows the basics.
Thank you Emma, we can’t assume anything tbh
Great video and tips with fruit flies there. 👍🏻😀🐜🇬🇧
Cheers Callum

I’ve never took care of a sling. I’m guessing it’s like a OBT sling ??
Thank You

I’d like to try to do it, but I could give it away.
They will scavenge, you could also try freshly hatched redrunners, or tiny maggots
Hi Scott, what size cm does the spiderling stay in those size pots?ill be getting slings that are 1cm in size
Around 2-4cm
@@ScottsInverts so probably 2 months in the pot?
Raising baby T's and getting grandspideys from them is the dream😁
I've got eggs with legs from exactly that, hopefully they will molt to slings
@@ScottsInverts awesome!😁what a journey haha 😅

Nice one
Hi sorry I missed the live I was rehousing my brachypelma Hamorii
No worries, hope that went well
@@ScottsInverts little bit of hair kick but relatively smooth
@@amysweb4815 good easy one then

Would love to see a picture of it see how you do it , sounds really promising
