It's good to hear such an interesting overview. The identity of Scotland has always been a mystery to me. It has always been hard to know how to interpret the snippets of history that I have previously heard. Prof. Tom Devine, through some of the videos I have watched, has brought me some light on the matter. As an ex-pat living in Asia it's good to hear his accent and his sense of humour as well.

I heard something once. " Those that wish something to be, often say it will be, as if believing simply saying it will be, will wish it into reality ". While I lived in Scotland the media and many in positions of power were wishing very loudly that Scotland didn't exist or it would soon evaporate. Seems they have been doing that for 300 years.

just goes to show how little of recent scottish history was taught in our schools during the 40s 50s & 60s whole generations growing up with the history of this country missing i often wonder if this was laziness or planed by governments at the time to keep us from questioning why scotland was always second when it came to allocating resources to grow this countries economy the same way as money was always found by magic for big projects -M25-Channel Tunnel- and all the infrastructure of the south of england HS2 will be the latest that will be of benefit to Scotland wont it ?? i ask the question to anyone thinking of voting no think on please

This is a turning point for the country it won't be called the United Kingdom anymore as Scotland will soon be Independent, N Ireland will soon join Ireland so Wales and England will have to be called rUK (rest of the UK) or little Britian

One must remember Divine (as his name suggests) is of the Irish persuasion therefore his perspective on this matters must be put into context.
