    One thing to watch out for is that while you'll get a flatter surface, if you're really hogging (which you aren't doing on yours, as you said, finishing work) you can grind a taper onto your part without realizing it. You've got a much bigger area to work with when you have a disc, but the outer parts are moving a lot faster than the inner parts!

    I enjoy your videos. I've used a belt sander/disc sander combo to work on knife handle material prior to final glue-up. I really like this setup because it looks like the disc is more substantial and it is directly connected to the motor instead of belt and pulley driven. Have you considered installing a vfd so you can reverse the disc?

      I built my first 2x72. Once I bought an OBM and saw the quality difference figured the rest of their products would be just as good. So far not disappointed.

    Anyone ever tried this type of grinder from Harbor Freight? Wondering if it's true or not. Some of those HF tools are pretty raggedy as far as being true in their alignment and manufacturing. Price is right if it does a good job though. Anyone ever tried them?
