Our holiday was booked with Tui and rated 4* on their site.
Food
A little info on restaurants there is the main buffet restaurant we found had good variety and fresh food prepared on the grill at each service.
Al a carte restaurants included Italian, Mediterranean, Mexican, Japanese and Brazilian. you cannot pre book unless you are RE member it is a first come first served basis.
Snack bar by pool serves burgers, hotdogs, loaded nachos and ice creams, there is also a fresh juice/smoothy bar around pool.
There was a good selection of drinks and cocktails beer on tap was dos Equis and sol.
Rooms
We stayed in a standard family room it was adequate but quite basic no thrills, our mini bar was stocked with canned fizzy drinks coke, Fanta,sprite, sparkling water and beer.
There is a large water dispenser in the room I would recommend taking your own reusable water bottles to fill up.
Towels - you will be issued with towel cards at checkin for beach/pool towels, give the card in at the towel hut to get your towels you can return them for fresh daily the cards must be handed in at the end of your stay so make sure you have them all to avoid a charge.
Pools
we used the main pool which had entertainment on during the day at one end the end with the kids pool is quieter.
La Tortuga pool is quieter and has a bar and towel collection point however it is smaller so get there early to get a bed.
The water park is a lot of fun the bar serves soft drinks and there is a snack area too.
Mask/Face coverings need to be worn when up at the buffet and in the theatre.
Wristbands watch the children's wristbands they fray and come off very easily these will get replaced once free charge but they will try and charge $100 if you loose it twice so if it looks loose take it off and keep hold of it I think the fee is only if you loose it not if you still have it to show.
Seaweed on the beach is I believe a problem for most of Mexico at some points during our stay they would almost have it clear but seemingly more seaweed would arrive but still a nice beach it is rocky which my children loved exploring the rock pools I would recommend water shoes.
check in is slow so be prepared.
Be sure to walk around the walks through the hotel the grounds are beautiful, the animals are amazing there are a lot to see this alone makes it worth the visit.
Trips
we booked with the concierge Xplor I would highly recommend we went with an 8 and 5 year old the cost was $405 if you do go be sure to get the photo package it was $160 for a family of 4 but we really regretted not taking funds to purchase this.
jetskis on the beach to the right $60 for 30 min
massage on beach to left $30 plus tip for one hour and it was amazing.

Did you visit the Sandos Playacar, you can just get a cab over. Its one of the top ten best beaches in the world, we have stayed there twice ❤

Not long we went at 5,30 ish when they opened and pretty much got straight in
We usually got there when they opened 5.30 ish I think and pretty much got straight in longest wait was about 30 min one evening when we went to the Italian a little later
Was it 100 dollars or 100 pesos for the wristbands if you lose them? I’m going in august, can’t wait
It was $100 that’s why I mentioned to take care of them as you don’t want to get stung with that. The queues always quite long at reception we won’t to concierge desk eventually to get it sorted and they wavered the charge.
My family I go the week after next can’t wait!!
Its 100 DOLLARS..i know because other resorts have warned us about this being expensive replacement. Like 150 dollars at fiesta americana

Hi! Do they require Covid test still? How was your check in time?
No covid test out check in was a bit of a slog around 1.5 hours it was just slow there were only a couple of people in front of us so no idea what the hold up was once we got to the front check in was quick
Did they supply the masks for theatre/buffet. If you are royal elite member, how do you book restaurants? Directly upon arrival at resort?
They supply masks at buffet I was not royal elite so I’m afraid I can’t help you on that one we could only book the Japanese there was a little kiosk outside the sports bar for this
Just wanted to ask if this resort has dolphins as looking for a resort that DOESN’T have captive dolphins. Looks a lovely resort

Hello great review..in what areas do the monkeys hang out?...cenotes or mayan ruins? What side?
We saw them along the Main Street , in reception around the cenote our Roman was in the 7 block we saw them a lot between there and the pathway past the animal enclosure but we saw them most days at some point you usually hear the rustle in the trees first

Where are the slides water park did kids go?
There is a water park on site where the slides all are we spent a couple of afternoons here the kids loved it
How’s the WiFi situation in the hotel room?
Being honest I don’t remember now , I don’t recall it being a problem 🤷🏻♀️ sorry not much help
Do they proved goggles for the cenotes??
Do the cenote swim they provide just the life jacket no mask/goggles., for the jade river swim they provide snorkel mask and life jacket. I looked in the shop thinking I would pick some snorkel masks up but they were $50/$60 each so I would recommend taking your own

That’s a shame , we had a lovely time here , not the best hotel we have ever stayed in but we had a fab time !
i’ve been to around 14-15 different resorts and this is my all time favorite. been here 4 times and never had any problems. yea the meals aren’t all 5/5 stars but ur in a different country and there is enough that u won’t go hungry. the pure uniqueness of this resort makes it better than the rest
Yeah we loved the jungle walks the monkeys all of it , and I agree food not the best we’ve had but it was still enjoyable 👌🏼
Please don't feed the animals!!!
There are signs that say for your own safety don’t feed the animals incase of bites as they are wild obviously this could happen, not for animal safety. However most people do and I never saw them being given anything other than bananas and apples 🍎 everyone is very respectful of them.

I’m glad you’ve done this review as I’m just looking at Mexico for next year and this appealed because of the animals. I travel with my 3 boys alone and having read some of the reviews on trip advisor they make the place sound horrendous. From Mosquito problems to the food just being inedible. I was seriously rethinking until I see your review. We’d be looking to go in early July so I would expect the sargassum to be heavy but it wouldn’t be a deal breaker. 🦟
Honestly like I said the food wasn’t the best I’d had but it was nice plenty of selection we enjoyed it and no mosquito problems , I have had mosquitos not here but in Mexico before tho the hotel was out in force spraying them so maybe that’s more seasonal ?
