I surprised Verstappen and Perez with this Interview

- I know this isn't my usual technical content, but I thought I'd share it anyway!
Red Bull USA brought me out to the US Grand Prix - and since I was already there at their hospitality suite at Turn 17 on the circuit, they decided to let me interview Max and Checo before the sprint shootout on Saturday morning.
The audio quality is horrible, but thankfully my editor has done an awesome job with the subtitles.
ENJOY!
Also huge thanks to @AshVandelay and Arash Markazi for the footage!!

Checo admitting he doesn't hate Taco Bell is everything lolol
I was like "fk does he have an affiliation with them 👀👀👀" hahaha
Perez gonna buy taco bell after retirement
@illusionarywall582 I had taco bell last week in the UK. The UK menu sucks though
I’m also Mexican and I love Taco Bell. It’s not Mexican food at all, but it definitely tastes good 😅 I like going there when I visit the US
@@erickpadilla9826 haha respect. I love all of it NGL
Shame about the sound quality but that was AMAZING. I love how Max always seem so chill whenever he talks about the technical stuff, why the track poses a challenge, how the 2019 felt and whatnot. I am a huge fan and I am already hoping for his 4th.
3:42 It's so sad people who only watch F1 on TV don't see this side from Max, he is honestly extremely witty at cracking jokes on the spot. Thanks to the internet we can see way more of him
I have liked Max from the beginning. And now he has matured and carries his Championships well.
I talked to him for a while when he was 15. His dad and Arie Luyendyk were chatting a bit further away so he was standing alone. Waiting until he was going to do a bit of a demo run in an F3.
I said. Dude don’t grow any taller because you need to fit in those F1’s later. He immediately went no no no I’m not growing anymore. So he was a really nice bloke then. Of course he has matured since then. But in essence I still see the same guy.
lol...I can totally hear this in his voice when he was 17 and just joined F1@@MaartenOosterbaan
The f1 media world revolves around virtue signaling these days and that’s just not Max’s thing. He likes race cars and couldn’t care less about politics and I, for one, respect that.
@@MaartenOosterbaan I met him in the Florida Winter Series way back around maybe 2012 and he was extremely down to Earth then but he was also just “Jos’s son” back then, too.
Love how Max actually faces you and talks to you as the interviewer instead of to the crowd.
I’d love to see an extended podcast or something with Max. Say an hour or two. Not only very chilled and laid back, but very thorough and technical (in a way anyone can understand) when he answers questions.
That would be awesome.
Always nice to get max talking more in depth than with the usual press questions, would be really great to hear him talking more in depth about f1, I always thought the technical side of the driver's isn't covered enough, they hardly ever actually talk about lines even or the way they drive
RB just dropped their podcast with max and GP ;)
It's heartwarming to see RB bringing back people like you who used to work for the team and allowing you to bring more insight for us. You must've had a trip down memory lane meeting Checo and Verstappen!
That was one heck of a noisy interview. Great that you still managed to abstract so much out of it. Max in his natural habitat is always fun to watch.
Honestly people give him so much abuse but he's always a pleasure to chat with and has so much to say if you ask the right questions
@@brrrake Max is a beast on track but off track he's kind to everyone. But the toxic fanbases sees only the bad in him on race track. I hope it will change in the coming years
@@DutchGioSeb Vettel went through a similar thing when he was dominating even though you could tell he was a pretty chill guy with a brilliant sense of humour. It's only when he stopped winning and started to struggle did the general public embrace the driver and the personality.
Max gets far too much hate simply for being uber competitive on track but to me he's always been so decent and straightforward off the track. I like his no nonsense attitude when being interviewed it must be a Dutch thing and the only other driver that comes to mind with the same attitude was Lauda.
If you get a chance watch the Channel Four (UK) taxi prank to see how polite Max is even with someone making him seriously uncomfortable.
@@LazeeAnomalee. I don’t understand why people think he gets so much hate except to guess maybe you commenters must be British. He’s literally the worlds most popular driver. And Mexico hates him because they blame him and RB for his poor performance so I don’t even count them. And Americans love Max. What you saw in Austin and Miami was the effect of being close to the southern border and don’t have anything to do with Americans.
Max was paying close attention to what you're saying, you can tell from the way he stared at your soul without blinking. lol
Hopefully you can get a sit down interview with max sooner than later. Great job blake
Thank you so much for the subtitles, it was pretty hard to understand some parts. Love the banter and call backs to some years ago. Maybe we might get a little interview in the future with GP or Max just to talk about the first few (difficult) years with you. Also I think a more technically focused interview between you and other RB personell (maybe 2017 vs now) would be epic.
I'm working on this!
+1 on more technical interviews! I think that’s what separates you from the rest, having the knowledge to ask those deeper more insightful questions
there is a podcast with Max and GP on Talking Bull now, very nice 👍🥰
@@caro2501 it was such a good episode.
That was not fraudulent at all! It was very interesting hearing Max describe the difficulty in handling of the '14 car and the technical nature of COTA.
A sit-down with GP (and even hopefully Max and other drivers) talking about more technical stuff than the average journo can tackle would be epic!
You summoned the talking bull video into existence lol
@@OrgBrent 😅😅
This is content I didn't know I needed. Thanks man, as mentioned in the comments aswell, a interview with GP would be as Max often says "simply lovely"
Hahaha amazing interview, gotta love the max banter
After the DTS hatchet job on Max, people still want "a story," by the way they try to make Max seem like some angry monster all the time, but I'm always a fan of this...talking to the person, and letting them tell you the truth, and seeing how they are without the pre-scripted lights, camera, action of some show following them around. Talk to the actual people who worked with them who can tell you, hey, guess what, normal guy. It's always a good chat to hear from drivers own mouths what the difficulties on a track are, and how they operate. Good little interviews.
Man, Max is a super chilled dude (except in the track of course), you're super lucky to have worked with these guys, and still gets to meet them every now and then. Hey Blake, were you with Checo at Pink Mercedes?
iirc he was either at red bull or out of the sport by then, his force india days were at the start of his career, hence working with checo in 2014 (i may be wrong tho so dont 100% quote me on that)
Brilliant to see the interviews, nice back and forth with you all. Amazing how you can all remember individual races so well and the tiny details we miss as spectators which make laps and races so decisive. I suppose when you are so focused on your own race and not the whole grid it is easier to zone in on those things. Makes the races sound much more exciting!
Great job, Blake. You have a real rapport with Max. We are pulling for you and your career ambitions.
Oh snap! Here to just drop a *toot toot* and give you a big congrats on all the post-F1 employee success!
Amazing interview 😮 It seems like you guys all fell right back into being friendly despite not seeing each other for years. It’s nice seeing that. Thanks for pointing this out on the podcast so I wouldn’t miss it.
Loved this and also loved this for you! I’d love (going hard on that word haha) to see you have a proper chat with Max, he seems like a guy who would enjoy talking about technical stuff for hours, he seems like a big nerd and I’m here for it.
I loved the chat you had with Max! Seems so comfortable talking to you and the things you talk about are interesting! I say 3 houre podcast? Since Max seems to be so fond of podcasts 😅
Great Catch Blake, really reeling in the big fishes now! Subtitles were a huuuge help, Danke!
Maaaate, thank u))
Really great to see it when somebody from the inside of the tech part and have been inside the team taking interview like that. And yeah, as somebody told already - we want more with Max just like... an hour about tech in F1 - would be great)
Super cool! Glad you got to catch up with Sergio and Max at COTA!
Max is the GOAT. On and off the track.
This is brilliant stuff. Keep killing it mate
you're a very good interviewer! the tex mex question and max tells things which we normally don't hear.
Really fun to see that reunion blake and great idea to have the subtitles for us.
I think it was a non starter without subtitles 😅😅 cheer, Michael
Waaw! Great with Max. You guys can chat together for a whole day I think. And I want to listen.
I was waiting outside the tent to catch a glimpse of them on their way out. Thanks for showing us what was going on inside!!
Brrrake to Sky Sports F1 confirmed????? Great interview pal, different video from you but loved it👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Maybe one dayyyyy ❤️ thank you maaaaate
@@brrrakeI can imagine it being a dream to work for a big network.. but surely not that bunch of w**##&€s?
@@brrrakengl I would prefer you as a pundit as you're an ex engineer that has worked with drivers one could say you helped mold these drivers as you where a key engineer during their rookie year's so I'd reckon with this yt thing and your prior knowledge you'd be a perfect pundit
LEGIT AWESOME! This is amazing. Fun surprise to start the day!
Every day I just love Max more and more 😂
❤ every moment of this! regardless of the surrounding noises!
on point, u complementing their answers was good too, u r a great interviewer brake sheeeesh
Checo is the freaking man...He is so so loved
Thanks for sharing with us!
Nice interview! What was that about the first simulator test with Max for RedBul before the Spanish GP in 2016? Could you tell us more about that?😁
Love that for you☺️ but PLEASE fix the audio next time 😅
Excellent stuff Blake, thank you.
kudos to your editor ! 😺
Nice, I hope you get to do more!
The sound is diabolical. Whoever is responsible for that needs to get some training immediately.
Your mom
@brrrake ah, it was your fault. What a shame.
@@procatprocat9647 yep. Bummed but it is what it is
That's some special content. Thanks, man.
Great stuff dude. Maybe you'll get them at a quiet place in the future 😊
Hope so 🙏 thanks
Nice video mate
Awesome! Seems like you had a blast in Texas!!!
The checo and brrrake reunión u DIDNT know I needed, should’ve brought in GP too
So fun you got to do this :)
It was a blast. Also someone shared your AI / strategy video this morning in the discord! What a fun project (and holy hell what a can of worms it is!) great presentation though!
Fantastic interview
This is so dope!
That was great
Ohhh, We're in the big leagues now!
GO ON LAD
I'm looking forward to you linking to this the next time an F1twt guy tries to say you have a Merc bias 😂
So when will we see Max on the Engine Breaking Podcast. I would love the hear you and Dan swap stories of the olden days with him and ask him to the most inappropriate questions.
Probably never 🤣
@@brrrake I don't believe that for a minute. I will personally go to my little Max altar at home and will him to join you. I believe in your powers of persuasion. Give yourself more credit.
@@brrrake have you asked him?
@@8020erwin nope. I don't like bothering people unless I have something unique to offer them. He gets asked every day, I'm sure.
That is pretty awesome mate. Deserves a toot 😅
If you could get some sit down interviews with a different drivers, I think you'd be great and offer something different to all other interviews by incorporating some of the analysis like you did on the mexico quali and why/where ricciardo was quicker
You’ve REALLY got to re-cultivate your relationships within the paddock because you seem to have a great synergy and insight into both the tracks and vehicle dynamics and those are things that deteriorate over time as you are away from the sport when you can’t travel with the teams. I listen intently to you and you don’t seem to play the fanboy crap with certain drivers too badly, there are at at least 3 drivers that need a better PE, you know who they are.
Bro wearing alpha tauri drip
Pretty cool that checo corrected him on the facts. Thats a fella with a good memory
Yeah, no idea why I said 2017 😅
Good job :) If you ever need a help with the captions give me a shout - it's what I do for work but I'm happy to help you with your awesome content for free.
So the mics didn't work. What a shame.
Putting Blake on fraud watch with that audio
I enjoyed this very much shame. The sound quality is not good, but I would hope one day you get to sit down with the max or Checo in a quiet room.
damn bud, im so sorry for the shoddy audio
fuuuuuck, the fst fwd segment, I'm sorry
Legendary
The only times Ive seen Verstappen this relaxed is when he is interviewed by Dutch media/influencers; I know some will see it as a negative. But its good drivers have a few safe havens where they can be themselves due to an pre existing bond like you guys have. I also think its cool RB allowed it, instead of choosing only influencers who always talk like puritans.
we love checoooo
W content
Good video except for the very poor sound quality. Thanks for sharing.
oh thank god for captions....and traeger
Trager + Brrrake + F1 is happening one day.
@@brrrake at the next cota m&g
Next time it would be cool if the audience were not that noisy and having 2 chairs (or 2 bar stools) with better camera angle
Next time you find yourself in this situation, put a mic in front of the PA speaker.
Get a drink every time he goes: fast forward.
Three drinks.

Checo not wanting to diss Taco Bell in case they might wanna sponsor him in the future 🤣 thank you for posting this, much appreciated. Audio quality is fitting for a fraudulent content creator such as yourself 😘
Damn you must having been sweating , you were so nervous man but still kept it together. Felt the event was a little tailored template and rushed.
Honestly I would have preferred a one-on-one with your former colleague in a quiet podcast environment.
Perhaps an interview with GP is the next goal to reach...
Just to throw shade... When are ya gonna move pass the whole "engineer to Checo and Max" intro? And did Checo still called you a lazy bum? xD
Well. Considering that was very relevant to this video. I included it. 😂
@@brrrake yea.. all good brother. But if opportunity present itself again... Are you gonna play your greatest hits? Just curious xD
Sound quality is horrible and if you want to do more interviews like this you should do something about that.
Noted.
Not a little problem with audio but a huge issue. Impossible to listen.
It's good to understand that you can type words and hopefully read subtitles.
Why can't people be quiet 💀
FIRST🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
We need new winner its so boring to see him win every race
Who do you want to win?
the typical emptiness of hearing pro-athletes talk.
A guaranteed, supersized nothing-burger. xD
Your expectations were met, then. 😅
@@brrrake yeah, I'll be the first to admit I can't help myself 😂
It is not one's fault either. You try to ask interesting questions (maybe already avoiding some questions you know are met with nothingness)
The drivers are not at fault because they are just completely indoctrinated with media-training ,(not to mention the hush-hush everything is top-secret air that hangs around the paddock)
And I am not fault because it is just the algorithm proposing some F1 content, and me hoping,in vain, that this time it will be better 😂
I have to say though, that the last 5 to 10 years they are quickly becoming as interesting as pro-soccerplayers in their interviews. It wasn't like that in the past. Drivers had character and colour.. but that damn corporate mediaBS takes all the juice out of everything
While I enjoy this video, I noticed that Brrrrake is time to lose some weight 🤣🤣
Nah, he looks pretty good. Also don't just comment on the weight of strangers that's just not on.
Very strange comment. Don't bother commenting again 👍 😂
I'm serious.
It's the low camera angle and maybe the lense. Maybe try not to record from hip height?
