There are few Christmas games at all, and since most are cheaply-made most of them are crap. This is my fourth year reviewing Christmas games and I've already covered all the good ones I have, so I'm left scraping the bottom of the barrel. Besides, the channel has never been about only reviewing good games. I find that reviewing bad ones can be just as entertaining, if not more so. And I'd much rather review a game nobody has heard of that's crap than a good game that's been reviewed 100 times.
The graphic for the shotgun was based on a color palette that was not used on the level it was present on, I've got a bit of experience with that engine it's a really simplistic error anybody who knew the engine would not make
Heh, I'm the same way in that I can't stand videos that rhyme the whole way through. I actually was just normally writing the script for this and the first couple sentences accidentally rhymed, so I figured I'd let them be... then put the rhyming out of its misery before it overstayed its welcome.
Coming back to this review since it was just played on game grumps, their vid went off the rails and they ended up on the wiki page mentioning this video
What I really like about the LGR reviews is the whole informative basis on which they're set - not just commentary on gameplay and graphics, but you get to see the story behind the development of each game. This is great!
If you can find it try pencil whipped I think the guy who made its name was Lonnie... there was a community of people who are utilizing the engine and producing some pretty cool things but sadly most people did not invest the time and produce things like what we just seen on the video
Because I wanted to. I never said I'd only review bad games either, just that I'd rather review unheard-of games, which are especially fun when they're bad.
Blake stone! Corridor 7 ! The PieSkySoft GCS was the second piece of software I ever purchased, Duke3D collectors box being the first (with the exception of Audio Compositor). This review made my day, as do most all of your videos. Happy seasons to you & the LGR channel
Your videos are always such fun to listen to. I'll have your channel going in the background while I'm doing something else, and the episode is still fun because you have "TV voice." Great work. My favorite episode is where you make fun of Fisher Price baby video games. LOL.
okay, so I had the LGR christmas theme used in this my head for like every LGR Christmas for like the past 8 years. welp coulda just found it with one search
To tell the truth have been using the engine since it was put on the market have a project I've been working on a few years with my free time, which would blow the majority of Pie games out of the water. It's very capable engine although it does not have all the features of Doom it can do a lot of things Wolfenstein or Doom cannot. the difficulty at this time is using all sorts of emulation to get things to work appropriately with modern computers.. I think the problem is most people using this engine where is somewhere in between 10 and 13 years old and rushed into it with their imagination oh, my first couple projects for like that by the time I was about fifteen I was making some really cool stuff with it , still using it nearly 40 years old it's quite capable and fun oh, you just have to understand the engine and know how to use it... And most importantly know what not to do
Ah, Pie in the Sky. I've seen a channel that's played a few of them and from a very casual glance Pie in the Sky engine games all feel like 'you've played one, you've played them all'.
I have been using the GCS since it was first put on the market it's actually a lot of fun and if you take a bit of time you can make awesome games. The problem with it as most people rushed it and were comparing what they were making to Wolfenstein and doom clones. The engines actually quite capable it does a lot of things Doom cannot as well as things Wolfenstein cannot, Blondie other hand you need to get some experience with the engine before you achieve that... I have a project I hope to complete before 2022 ... Just wondering if you ever followed through and tried it out
So, there's Rose's old Crosstime Saloon playthru for good Long Island representation, then there's LGR's Terror in Christmas Town review for poor Long Island representation. Good times.
Seems to be what you can expect from any kind of "do your own games" software. To make anything properly you need to know alot more than it lets on (like making games, graphics, and so on).
Can someone please give the exact name for the game creation software kit or an eBay link cause I’m trying to get my hands on it (also what operating system did it run on at the time???)
You should do some west-coast beat and rhyme it with some flow ;) dancing elven females in the background of polar mansion with big pools and bentley sleighs will do the rest of the job.
Thank goodness you gave up on the rhyme. I've never watched some videos out there because the person making it thought it would be fun to do a whole one like that. I'm kind of allergic to it.

I can't get enough of LGR today, for some reason.
See, the problem with the shotgun is that there's a massive hole in the middle of the barrel.
The graphic for the shotgun was based on a color palette that was not used on the level it was present on, I've got a bit of experience with that engine it's a really simplistic error anybody who knew the engine would not make

I love how out of place all the normal guns are.

Ross's Game Dungeon covered this perfectly, along with Deer-Napped.
FIND THE MAGIC! Find the magic everyone.
Glad to see another Ross viewer. *FIND THE MAGIC!*
Heh, you know? Most every Pie in the Sky engine game I've played can be described as "Lethal Tender minus bad jokes about money".
If you can find it try pencil whipped I think the guy who made its name was Lonnie... there was a community of people who are utilizing the engine and producing some pretty cool things but sadly most people did not invest the time and produce things like what we just seen on the video
Dude the amount of Jazz Jackrabbit music you use makes me so happy.
Its nice to know that asset flipping has a rich history.
Holy hell; I never thought I'd see hide or tail of this game again.
Kudos on another enjoyable review, sir!
Because I wanted to. I never said I'd only review bad games either, just that I'd rather review unheard-of games, which are especially fun when they're bad.
so asset flips were a thing even back then, yeesh
Sending 10 dollar check directly to the developer? That way of paying is indeed VINTAGE!!!

Merry Christmas, LGR!
*FIND THE MAGIC*
Merry christmas mate. Thank you for another year of great vids!
YES the nostalgia feels gooood THE ORINGINAL INTRO....remake am I the only one going nuts because of this?
Man I love your reviews! You got a way with words :)
It's from last week's game, Daze Before Christmas.
Great opening! Happy holidays.
Find the magic!
Holy crap a home address on there.
Was pretty par for the course back then :)
It just freaks me out because I know where that town is.
Prince David Same. I live a few miles away.
+Trilkin Please drive to his house and hand him $10
I wonder if he's aware of the review. I'd be pretty happy that a famous TH-camr opted to review a crappy obscure game I made 20+ years ago.
okay, so I had the LGR christmas theme used in this my head for like every LGR Christmas for like the past 8 years.
welp coulda just found it with one search
Merry Christmas peoples. Hoping 2021 doesn't suck.
Capitol riots was amazing
You've gotta FIND THE MAGIC!!
Great stuff LGR. Always love your vids
You should look at more PITS games such as Cosa Nostra and Burnt Toast. I remember being unimpressed as a kid by both of those games.

@@gregledbetter5942 Thanks for that response! Have you worked with the Wolfenstein 3d Engine at all? Can it do anything the Wolf engine could not?
"I'm not trying to say he has no talent..but I am"
Glad to see the "classic" drink sipping intro is back :D
Hey, LGR, for some reason, whenever I watch your intro, I want a soda. From a can specifically.
Merry X-Mas bro.
Always looking forward to new episodes of LGR. :-D
Fire & Ice for the win! Damn i love this channel.
1:49 is actually a slowed-down version of the Windows 3.1 startup sound!
Ah, Pie in the Sky. I've seen a channel that's played a few of them and from a very casual glance Pie in the Sky engine games all feel like 'you've played one, you've played them all'.
I knew I heard it before and it was an Xmas game. thanks for the reply!
Anyone know the background music at the start? (from 0:30 or so)
Hmmm.. im surprised that you havent done a quick review of Blake Stone yet! ;D
This looks kinda fun, but if you say it's bad, I'll take your word for it, thanks for the video
at 1:47, Did I here the Windows 3.1 TADA at a lower pitch!?
Yes, you did.
merry christmas!
-Clicks Uploads Only- Sweet, a new LGR video:)
i cant recall wolfenstein 3d had other than 90degree cornered walls. This engine seems to support 45degrees.
OMG I remember playing this lol. good times..
Find him some good Christmas games then, he asked for suggestions last month on FB/twitter & the ones he's reviewed are the ones suggested to him!
it's a bug that youtube hasn't fixed; it happens when you add a video to a 'show.'
At least the Unity Engine has spawned a handful of good games.
At least the music isn't just Jingle Bells or something
I kinda want to get the GCS now just so I can try to make something better than this thing.
I have been using the GCS since it was first put on the market it's actually a lot of fun and if you take a bit of time you can make awesome games. Anyone else think the red brick house texture looks like gore brick house textures?
First thing I thought when I saw them, or maybe like spaghetti and meatballs.
Love the beginning.
@ Phreakindee Can you do a review of Pool of Radiance 1 and 2? please i would like to hear your comment about the game
Can someone please give the exact name for the game creation software kit or an eBay link cause I’m trying to get my hands on it (also what operating system did it run on at the time???)
corncob 3D wow... i had it on a demofloppy of a pcgames magazine.
Hmm, the background music when your rhyming. It seems familiar is that from a Xmas game or a pc game?
wish for a tyrian 2000 review
FIND THE MAGIC.
Yikes. If this is the last Christmas game to be reviewed this year, then I guess we're going out on a low note.
Couldn't get this to run in DOSBOX any more than 1FPS
+The Adequate Gamer 1 FPS!?
Review Twisted X-Mas Quake TC! It's pretty good.
He does, look at his far cry 3 review, unless u mean christmas ones.
Reminds me of the intro for Another World / Out of this World ... just the can drinking mind
Wait there's a computer digital creation kit that lets me make wolfenstein like games is there a place I can get this
You could have worked Frankenstein into the Wolfenstein sentence perhaps.
love the intro
But MK1 and Far Cry 3 are heard of and they're good!!!
Every day is opposite day for you, PhreakIndee! :P
I feel as if I've seen this elsewhere...
Please review Corncob3D!
What's the name of this lgr intro song? I can't seem to find it anywhere.
4:54 Nightmare fuel right there.
You should do some west-coast beat and rhyme it with some flow ;) dancing elven females in the background of polar mansion with big pools and bentley sleighs will do the rest of the job.
Depth Dwellers soundtrack is AMAZING. Don't hate!
a calm music in a shooting game, yeah great indeed
That tututuuuuu let me think about the first windows versions
you know , that rhymes !
Video released day after the world ended
shes a beauty
Awesome
He did a vid on it
yay for awesome intro
did you rhyme nineties with floppies?
Why is this age restricted? I had to use my phone to get around the block...
0:01 you can see jazz jackrabit 2 as one of the games Only for 1 second!
One thumb down? Michael Zerbo must be one of your subscribers.
Thank goodness you gave up on the rhyme. I've never watched some videos out there because the person making it thought it would be fun to do a whole one like that. I'm kind of allergic to it.
Oh, or anything with ending in 'fine' or 'divine' etc. Sorry, just had to be 'that guy' there. The thought of roasting nuts, did it I think, LOL.
Wow. And here I was, playing Pie In The Sky's Lethal Tender, which...appears to be this game, minus Christmas and plus bad jokes about money.
Please do Deer Napped!
kinda wanna download this
have you reviewed fallout1?
Pie in the Sky? Piss in the Wind, more like!
He already did the Far Cry series, The Sims, Morrowind, etc.
I like his channel because he features obscure crap.
The thing that always gets me about the intro is there is is someone out there that actually drinks Wild Cherry Pepsi, time to switch to Coke!
ohh gaming poetry :)
