  • On September 5th, the CNA Center for Justice Research and Innovation’s (JRI) Project on American Justice (PAJ) hosted its second annual JRI Virtual Symposium Futurescape of Justice: Improving Public Safety. The symposium brought together criminal justice researchers and practitioners to discuss emerging and critical topics in the justice system. Mary Lou Leary, CNA Board of Trustees and former Deputy Director for the Office of National Drug Control Policy joined the symposium as the keynote speaker. Sessions included presentations and roundtable discussions on research, training and technical assistance, and reform work that JRI is engaged in. These sessions covered the following topics: critical incident response, law enforcement member well-being, emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI), violence reductions initiatives, and how these topics will impact the future of the public safety.
