This was my experience. This is why I go out of my way to help sprouts and show them endless patience. Because someone did the same for me once upon a time. Kindness begets kindness. Pay it forward.

      Sometimes it's hard..
Specially on the first area of the Aurum vale. When you nicely ask if people know the strat they say yes and they run like crazy retards, aggro everyone, stay on the yellow water, and don't even activate the tank stance or use their tank buffs... And you explain it and despite that the tank keep doing the same thing five time straight, patience change to the furious desire to kick him.

@@Geekezf You're going to find those people everywhere, experienced or otherwise. The whole point is to not let those experiences destroy the chances of finding the people that are actually worth your time in this game. That's kinda how it works in real life, too.

FFXIV is a game that is so easy to be nice and kind to others, to spread a positive experience and show the world that people are, at their core, truly kind and loving to everyone
I love FFXIV, not just because of its story or its combat or anything like that, but it lets me just enjoy being with people that are truly just....happy and friendly :)

I remember my experience as a sprout; I was pretty much always a solo player, so being alone in the overworld never bothered me. But then I got lost in the Black Shroud and couldn't continue the MSQ. That's when a mentor player /telled me, "Hey, you should go to the Carline Canopy!"
I couldn't reply because I was in the free trial, but I went there anyway. I didn't recognize who they were because I'd never seen their toon before, but then they invited me to their party and we started talking to each other.
"Are you new to the game?"
    "Yes, I started yesterday."
"You're level 15 now, aren't you? You should do the Novice Hall."
"Oh, I know that place. But I never tried it."
"You should, I'll let you leave the party so you can do it. When you finish all of the levels I'll invite you to my party again."
After I did all of the novice hall stuff, I came back with better gear and an exp ring. I was sort of expecting him to leave, but he invited me to his party again and helped me complete my hunting log and helped me complete my Black Shroud aetherytes.
I remember meeting them over and over in the overworld during hunt trains. They're also the same person who ended up inviting me to a hunt linkshell and I've been enjoying doing those for a while. I'm still in the free trial since I'm still in highschool and can't usually afford to buy games but hopefully next year I'll buy it and surprise them and show them how far I've gone!

@@luckystars2372 yeah I started way back when ARR was current content and Heavensword was just teased. Or was it already out? It was so long ago I can’t fully remember but I do remember that a friendly Player helped me figure out how how to play I was a bard when I started and I thought I was doing very good but after one dungeon I was told that is needed to learn how to properly use my skills and abilities and also unlock my job stone. So this nice player messaged me and ask if I would be willing to learn the ropes from them and the rest was just like your video. They even help me set up my hot bars for both controller and keyboard and mouse. Then one day I they were gone and I was alone, I did at the time have them on my friends list but over the year I have a lot of spots that say unavailable. So I don’t know which one they could be so I leave them there with the hope that one day it will be available for me to see them again. But now I just help out as many sprouts 🌱 as I can just like that nice player has helped me.

I started last October, on the other hand. Come to think of it, it's almost a year!
Please keep helping your fellow sprouts. Let them relive the happiness we encountered when we first began our journey. I'm happy that there's people like you around!
I do hope you meet them again someday. Maybe they transferred server or changed their name. I'm sure they would be happy to see how far you've gotten! They'd remember the beginner "you" and compare that to the current "you".
I think that would be a very touching experience. If I were to see one of the beginners I've taught show me how far they've come, I might actually cry. :'D

I remember when I first started and a player chased me down like that one fish in the chocolate episode of Spongebob to give me a pile of goodies and 100k gil. Once I hit 50 and managed to get my own apartment I took up goldsmithing and carpentry to make furniture and instead ended up chasing down Thaumaturge, Lancer, Archer and Conjurer sprouts like that one fish in the chocolate episode of spongebob just to say “FINALLY, NOW THAT I HAVE YOU RIGHT WHERE I WANT YOU… I’d like to give you a cool weapon!” before giving them an HQ glam for their class.
It’s funny how kindness seems to be cyclical in this game.

I'll never forget you dragon lady. I never was invited to the network or anything, and even while currently working on becoming an omnicrafter before endwalker, in an fc with 300+ members, I still play solo. I've been to two social events ever, and I really enjoyed them. but I still feel like an outsider most of the time. I hope to follow this lalafells steps one day ^-^

joining the giant free companys can be rough, so many people hard to form connections. Id wager if you look for a smaller close knit fc you would like it more. Look for one with people with similar interests, like lots of crafters or raiders or whatever you like to do. To meet new people i hosted some small events, I started fashion shows with themes and offered gil prizes, advertised it where i could. Met some cool people and saw some amazing glams. Take a chance step out of your comfort zone, i think you will like the results.

I remember my time when I was a very early bard who was too new and didn’t really understand the “common” mechanics like a stack, eye, and what a DoT was. So I was in a pickle, especially with TP management back then. A couple kind people from the NN decided to join in on my journey and they were more knowledgeable than me. Honestly, it’s thanks to them that I started to understand how the bard worked and how to “gain a firm grasp”. Nowadays I hope they’re doing well since it’s been about…. A few years? But knowing them, they’re probably savage raiding. Nowadays, I help clear parties in PF and teach mechanics and even help those starting off on dungeons and teaching how their jobs work. With the amount of kindness and patience I was given, I thought it right to share it with other players

My god this is touching. I've been playing this game non stop for 2 months now, and the reason I am so enamored with it is exactly this sort of interaction. I feel like I have made a crowd of new friends just by joining, and you have captured that feeling in microcosm.
Your composition is amazing, your pacing is beautiful, and you have put into 8 minutes what I have been struggling to put into words for over a month.
Thank you for this video, I'm showing it to everyone i know.

    • @luckystars2372
      @luckystars2372  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I'm happy this video has captured your heart. FFXIV has such a wonderful community indeed.
Composition... ah. I'll have you know I had BIG troubles with the composition. To think that I once thought, "after he waves goodbye, there'll be tons of events and the former sprout will find himself fighting Emerald Weapon Extreme with a new bunch of friends"
And that Emerald Ex fight had a SCRIPT to follow as well!
Then I did countless other experiments and finally just said "Ah whatever, let's keep it simple." and this is the end result.
Silly me over-thinking this video's script for 2 months straight! *bonk*
Don't worry about it, I also struggled to define the main aspect of this film.
Was it to show how beginners felt lonely at the beginning? Was it to inspire mentors to do better and for good mentors to keep it up? Was it to make a simple "first video" of a time-lapse of a sprout growing up? Was it to show the circle of kindness? Or... was it to show that lalafells are the master race?
All these things and more that I couldn't remember since they were minor (except the latter) revolved around my head and I became dizzy on what to focus on for months to come.
At the end, I'm glad it turned out okay. While I'm not the best in camera movement, transitions (too much fade/wipe transition usage), special effects, graphics settings, gshade filters and all those other stuff, I'm pretty good with busting out my LB3 of love and emotions for the Final Fantasy 14 community. :D
Also, I had every intention of replying to you asap but I just came home from work when I read this comment, thought up my reply... and fainted on the bed. OTL
      Forgot, forgot...
Thanks for watching and thank you too for recommending it to your friends! \ o/

Beautiful video. I found it far more emotionally moving than I maybe should have done. I wish I'd had someone to help show me the ropes like this when I'd first started. I did have the occasional kind helper but largely I had to figure it out myself and it was a bit of a lonely and daunting experience at times. Anybody that helps out a new player is a hero that deserves recognition imo.
Even now I am still a bit lost at times but I do my best to help out the newest Sprouts so that they don't have the same confusion and difficult that I did, I just wish I was better at it.

    • @luckystars2372
      @luckystars2372  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I also find that people are emotionally moved more than I've expected them to be. Like, yeah sure I wanted people to feel sweetness and joy or the feeling of nostalgia but I didn't expect it to be this powerful...
But then, this might be the 70th time I've watched my own video and I still am emotionally moved by it from time to time - despite me nitpicking and pinpointing all the mistakes that I could have fixed during the editing process which I glanced upon.
I suppose it's quite a powerful video, yeah! Thanks for watching. :D

@@luckystars2372 I'd recommend to them join an ACTIVE FC, and by active I mean 40+ people online, not 2 or 5... then talking to people just becomes simple if you're part of the group, ask if anyone wants to run something, then just do it and socialize.

@@lifebetweenthelines8576 Hm... yeah, it's hard to find good players out there nowadays. The "good players" out there are absolutely busy with Endwalker right now, with the plethora of things that they have yet to do.
I usually help out newbies for example but I find my casual player butt spending 4 hours leveling up a job from 81-82, gathering a few stuff, doing optional quests and interacting with the FC! After that, I'm tired and I definitely don't have the energy to push out effort to lend a helping hand.
The other good players who I also know are jumping into learning the best way to craft or play a certain class. For example, after the update dropped, no one still knows the optimal way to play Black Mage with the new changes and they're all scurrying about trying to experiment this and that. After all, how can they give tips and teach if they don't know what to say?
Also, the player queues... gosh, the dang long player queues. After waiting for so long, folks will definitely spring to action on whatever they've been planning to do! Lots of factors on why folks aren't helping much nowadays. ;; ^^
Thank you for watching the video, I've got my concerns too on how to begin another video since every single one of my crewmates are totally occupied with Endwalker... It'd probably be cruel to force them to begin a project when there's so much things that they're excited to do.

As much as my experience is slightly different, as I have my friend with me when I start the game (funnily enough I played ff14 like 10 years ago with my uncle, he’s a legacy, but I don’t remember anything from ff14)
When I reached around level 30 and on, my friends sometimes aren’t online to help me with trials and dungeons. I ended up trying duty finder for the first time without NPCS or my friend, and as a dragoon, I think you can guess what happened in the titan fight- I died, since it’s the first time I see a KB attack. I panicked and was profusely apologizing in chat since I didn’t know the mechanics beforehand, and surprised that not only everyone were super chill about it, they even helped me with the mechanics.
There’s also other few times where I floor tanked quite hard. Either being wiped at second phase for multiple times, or just confused at the markers in general. Everyone was super kind to me though and I somehow powered through ARE because of that. Honestly don’t know if I can finish ARR without them!
After that point I barely dies in battle thanks to all the times I struggle with learning mechanics. Now I’m just a lv90 dragoon going around helping newbies with dungeons and trials mostly at nighttime, since there’s barely any player in Materia at 3am for dungeon completions XD

In JP... welp. I'm all alone in JP, mostly. No one talks to me or has ever PMed me. The Novice Network is dead, no one chats or tells stories there like in the other servers. No one even helps anyone there, it's a dead channel!
A lot of my friends are different sorts of former and current sprouts from the Novice Network who loved telling stories with me about their experiences in life. The JP server (from what I've seen) is sheer deafening silence when it comes to stranger to stranger interaction in pretty much everywhere.

@@SateLight Jenova? That's NA, right? My NA experience has been highly political because I played there before the NA elections. I kinda didn't like it so I kept playing in EU and JP.
I'm Asian too but I use a VPN to connect to EU and have 190-230 ping! :D
It's all good, Extremes have been fun but I'll say no to Savage stuff-
Maybe you'd like to come to EU during the data center world travel? Most of the people I've met are friendly, talkative and welcoming!
