    I just want to say many thanks for this.I was hooked on getting a pair of G8s but after seeing this I got some Superfeet green and after 30mins on the Trainer to break them in they are perfect. 👍👏

      I used my old Shimano insoles because high arch in to my lake shoes. It's not wide enough leaving small gap on outer foot that is pinching. Will any insoles completely fill the width of these shoes? I tried sole brand but numb and too thick.

    Awesome video. Are those superfeet the low arch support? I thought you were using the hight arch’s but I can’t find them in their web site 😢

    Very useful! Thanks! Looking for something thinner than my regular orthotics to fit in my snuggy Scott mtb shoes. Scott insole is great but not enough arch support. Dream garage btw... 😉

    Great video and discussion on the insoles. I use Superfeet as well. Blue for cross-country and hiking and black for cycling.

    Hi!
    I have a question. my feet are wide and typical flat duck feet. my biggest problem right now is hot spots. would be specialized footbed recomended for you? (also, I have tested at the specialized shop and I've got blue. what makes me still undecided about buying still not sure and also the price).

      Hi, this is an older video. I only use Solestar Kontrol (red) in all my road and mtb shoes. Absolutely amazing. I have a discount code with them and they have a 6 week trial. Addictcyclist20off

    just ordered cobra9 semipro, seems like a middle ground between solestar and a regular insole. lighter and easier to fit

    Thanks for showing all these soles and shoes! After you've tried Solestar too, can you get a higher arch in the G8 (with maybe the highest setting) than in Solestar?

    • @addictcyclist
      @addictcyclist  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Check out my solestsr reviews. Best I have ever owned. G8 is not for riders putting down power, in my opinion. The arch completely flattens and causes knees to dip in. I got rid of after 10 rides. If you decide Solestar, use code addictcyclist20off

    Have you tried the Lake carbon fiber mouldable footbed.

    • @addictcyclist

      I have. They were wide in fore foot and thin, BUT the mid foot Carbon came up on the side so narrow and severe, they would not flatten out when heated. Ended up throwing in garbage. 😎

    my crappy fallen arches don't do amazing with G8's either. They seem to just have alot of flex in the arch support. But speaking of shoes I love my shimano r901s

  • @jeffkoontz2186
    @jeffkoontz2186 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    The thing with the G8's is you get 5 sizes of arches and I see you have the #3's on... and I started there as well - and I found the 3 to be way too aggressive (you can see on your footage that the G8 arch height is way higher than the others). I also found the stock position of the arch to be too far forward. I've gone to a #1 on the right and a #2 on the left and moved them all the way back to get them less invasive. If you are compressing the arch when applying power, I think it might be too far forward. Anyhow you found what worked for you, so that's all that matters, but anyone else looking at this should realize that the g8's give you a boatload of adjustability, and the default installed arch and position when you open the box seems super aggressive (for me at least). I wish I had documented my shoe selection process, and all the shoes I bought and returned - and I dont even have wide feet.
    I also wish there was a lot more information out there on shoe sizing, insoles, cleat placement, saddle position, etc - but then it all interconnects with your overall fit on the bike, so maybe you have foot pain because of saddle position (which is possible) and not shoe selection. The answer is probably a good professional bike fit, for those that have someone good.

      Jeff, thanks for providing such detailed feedback. I’m the end for me and my riding style, the springing of the G8 arch wasn’t going to work for me but hands down it’s one of the best systems.

    9 times out of 10 Superfeet is the answer. I've been a Superfeet guy for 25 years. I've tried the very expensive Solestar Carbon footbeds. They're great, but the cheap carbon Superfeet are indistinguishable in my Lakes.

    This is the story of my life; so many insoles; however, instead of trying super feet I went for IceBug but not fully convinced. I am testing Lakes CX238 now. Question, is the Super Feet insole thiner than the Lake insole? I still need a little more volume/room.

    • @addictcyclist
      @addictcyclist  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Super feet carbon and black are near paper thin, thinner than the lake insole in the fore foot/box.

      @@addictcyclist Excellent; thanks for the information. At this moment I am using a stretcher to make more volume on my shoes. I have a 1/2 size bigger but I thing is just a little too long; thus, I afraid that once I brake them in, they will fit loose. My only concern is that I feel like I am between sizes: 9.5 US. which is at the beginning of size E

      Love the icebug slims except for one issue: the material on the top is too “slippery”. I find my foot doesn’t feel locked-in. Shame because they are comfortable as hell!

    your foot is a 110 and the shoes is 112, is that enough room to account for the swelling? is it a tight fit due to no going a bit wider?
