Her criticism on the doctor thing is quite weak, anybody who has a PHD is a doctor, anyone with that grade in any specialty is a doctor and usually are called that way between colleges, the fact that normal people only use that rank with medical doctors is just ignorance from common people.

I've gathered over the years that some people with advanced degrees in Education feel inferior to those with advanced degrees in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and so on. Consequently, they try to puff themselves up by _asking_ others to address them by their titles as if a Doctor of Education is on par with, say, a Doctor of Nuclear Physics.

I worked in a high tech engineering company. There were plenty of people who earned doctorate degrees. The ones who insisted you call them by their first names produced a lot of valuable work. The ones insisting they be called "Dr." never contributed a thing. They never lasted long at the company!

I think that's different if you are actually working in the medical field because it can become confusing. But doctorate people often use the term, especially in academics I don't necessarily agree with her. Not taking anything away from what she said about Jill Biden.
That's fine, but in Europe it is traditional since centuries for those who have completed doctoral studies (PhD) to use the title. Physicians may have years of study, but have not defended a doctoral thesis - some have gone into research and may complete a doctorate, but most do not. I think that North Americans are very worried about appearing elitist, and are wary of those who have completed a real doctorate using the title. This is a relatively recent phenomenon. PS, I can't stand Jill Biden - Trump 2024 Baby!
