@@matthewpatterson9184 hahah I must admit I spend a hell of a lot of time researching / following leads and half the time it comes to a dead end. But that’s kinda part of the fun for me now, especially when it’s for a project like this one! Thanks a lot my man, nice to see you pop up on a vid again 🙏🖤
Great video man, that lighting looked incredible. Always the best when no one is around and it’s just you and the camera! Really liked them bnw shots & I couldn’t agree more , make your life easier for when you do go out shooting. Comfy, waterproof shoes, bag ect ect … great video! 🙌🏼
@@GlynnHodson proper dreamy! Starting to actually enjoy winter for photography now or maybe I’m just getting lucky this year! 😂 thanks a lot man!! Appreciate ya 🙌🙌
I don’t get out in the early mornings much nowadays but I know what you mean about getting to see places in their best light with no one else around. I used to get the same buzz when I used to go all night fishing.
I must admit I'm not often out early enough to benefit but it's a special feeling isn't it, makes you feel at peace (and makes me wan't to make sure I am more often haha!) Thanks for watching mate!
Good stuff again 👍 - the thing that makes my life easier is a coat. An Ayacucho coat to be specific - it's waterproof and windproof and above all it's not meant to go up Everest. So it has accessible pockets everywhere.... Invaluable for lens caps, shower hats, filters, batteries, gloves, small cameras, small lenses... All to hand so no grubbing around in your bag trying to protect everything...
Thank you! Solid choice right there, whats exact the name of the coat do you know? Would be very interested to check it out. I like the idea of going to certain places without even carrying a bag
Topside post, Greg - good mix of pics, tips, and gear bits and bobs. Super venue, compliant traffic too😊. Tall grass works well for foreground element, IMO. For high contrast scene where you opted for B&W, ever try exposure blending multiple images (in color)? True, comfortable accessories encourage use and photography enjoyment - extension of ergonomics. Gee, I thought you had an assistant to carry your gear - or at least a mini saddle bag on Lupin (kidding). My camera bag is a repurposed army surplus canvas gas mask bag - cut up yoga mat dividers; doesn’t draw attention and holds one body, 2 lenses and small items. (No kidding.) Some evade unwanted attention by using diaper bags for gear (no s...t).😊 Used to use Peak Design straps but switched to more robust DIY: small key rings on cam body, small carabiners on camera strap ends. Cheers!
@@paulm8157 cheers fella! what a lovely driver to get out the way 😂 - yes I used to blend exposures a lot in the past but now it’s quite rare, quite like the one shot only approach unless I’m faced with something I can’t say no to 🤓 Lupins on annual leave well, said he needed a spa holiday 😂😂 Solid make shift bag Paul, I’d say that’s the one problem with the lowepro stuff, they scream camera gear most of the time, they could do with bringing out a range with diapers on 😂 Thanks for tuning in!!
good video greg ,, i enjoyed my visit there even tho it was raining as it does over there ,, don,t know route you took to get over but i am guessing its by hexham and down through allandale well if you continued down towards stanhope you will come to westgate and slit woods is just north of there ,, its supposed to be good for old mine workings and a nice little river for a good subject?? i havn,t managed to get there yet but its on my list.. when i drag myself out of bed ha ,, good crack tho tar
@@kevinredpath3345 just checked that out on Google looks very promising! Thanks for that Kevin! Will take a look in the coming weeks. I normally come in west via Slayley and it’s that dead space west of slayley that always seems to be absolutely caped in fog, but all that seems to be around is fields. Will do a deep dive and hopefully get my shot haha!
Great video, tips and pictures as always. For the last 18 months, I’ve seldom left the house with a similar set up. I have a Lowepro 200aw bag which I picked up for a tenner in a charity shop. It fits my camera, 24-200 lens, a cloth, polariser and battery. I’m so use to it now I barely notice I have it. Have you done much Astro photography? I’ve watched a few videos but they seem to over complicated it which leaves me completely in the dark. (Pun intended)
Much appreciated Alan thank you! That's the ticket, when you don't notice it is when you know it does the job right haha - I have not unfortunately, it's possibly the only type of photography I have never tried so would also not have a clue where to start, other than making sure to go to a dark sky area and using faster lenses lol
Thanks for watching! Check out the links in my description for more bits&bobs! ❤
I wish I was aware of half of the locations you are. Every video you've made has a cracking location. Brilliant as always, mate.

Great walk and talk, Greg! It makes perfect sense that if you are uncomfortable doing something, you just won't do it. Thanks!

@DISTANTMEDIA they don't make it anymore, however, there is something similar. Sent you a link via your site as I've also asked a question 👍
