a4 did sound tempting, especially since you were hinting towards a crazy move. I thought about it but thought the bishop will just move back and we have a worse position with a pawn down and a Queen in a awkward spot. Nice puzzle! Edit: @40:20 ahahaha nice one
Yes, a4 in that line I showed is a decent plan, but not necessarily the best move. But the Noah's Ark trap in general is a seen way too often at the lower levels, especially if players play that outside pawn first on either side of the board.
Hi kejimi, yes I do already have this lesson prepared and will post it at some point. I have some other videos that are a higher priority right now, but if enough people request it, I will gladly move it up the priority list. Thanks for watching!
First thing, you absolutely do NOT suck at chess. 630 is not a horrible elo by any stretch of the imagination. To me, this is an exciting level to be at, because with a few adjustments, you can move up 100's of rating points in a short period of time. Memorizing patterns and improving decision making is of course great, but I can tell you that there are 2 main reasons why players lose games below the 1000 level and those reasons are: 1) Not castling 2) Blundering pieces The first one is an easy fix. Just make sure you get castled in the first 5-8 moves in every game whether you're white or black. The second one is a little more difficult to constantly master. If you haven't already, I would strongly recommend watching my video on Middle Game Strategy #1 - How to Blunder Less. I will teach you a 5-item checklist that you need to try to go through on as many moves during the game as possible. If you can consistently go through the checklist, you should be able to easily move up 200 rating points in a short time. Keep pushing, you got this! you explain tactics in a clear, concise and practical manner--thanks for your time in making your very informative videos--this is my must see channel for all things chess
Thanks David. Have you watched my video on Middle Game Strategy #1? I show you my 5-item checklist for how to minimize blunders. I would definitely check it out if you feel that's one of your best opportunities for improvement. Hope it helps! th-cam.com/video/k0xxUdcBmB0/w-d-xo.html
Hey Rob, yes a4 trying to trap the bishop is a decent plan there, maybe not necessarily the best move in that line that I showed, but I just wanted to showcase that particular trap. Good luck!
Hey Jay, hmmm I think the time stamp of 55:08 is a little off. I'm not sure how the queen gets to a5 in this position. Maybe you meant a different point in the video?
Hi Teleologician, thanks for watching. I'm sorry, I don't understand your question. There is no piece on b1 at 15:42 in the video. Did you mean somewhere else?
Not that it changes anything, but I'd say h5 is also a coordinated cell @1:24:00, and e5 @1:30:34
Great video! Thanks 😊

Waiting for new one
I've finished every single video 🙌

@@chesswithcoachmark I really suck at chess. So, I'm trying to memorise patterns and improve how I make decisions while playing.
I have a ≈630 elo

Hi, thanks so much for your kind comment. I appreciate it and I'm so happy to know you think it's helpful. You are very welcome!
47:09 why isn’t the best move …Qxd4!. White cannot recapture with Rxd4 due to a weak back rank , inviting Re1#
@@jaybird1806 Absolutely, both moves are completely winning and both are great examples of deflection tactics.
Great content. Just wish I could remember to do this during a game. Still struggling to stop blunders even though I know what to do!

I tried a4 but only to see if I could trap the bishop and walked away from it straight away. Need to follow through with my crazy ideas!!
Hey Rob, yes a4 trying to trap the bishop is a decent plan there, maybe not necessarily the best move in that line that I showed, but I just wanted to showcase that particular trap. Good luck!
Seeing a4, luring the bishop out, isn't the tough part (I saw it); it's the Qa3, Rxb5 and Rb7+ in-between move parts that are tricky!
Yes, thanks for much for watching and good luck with your chess!
55:08 might be a silly question, but what happens if instead of …Qa5 opponent does…Qxh4
Hey Jay, hmmm I think the time stamp of 55:08 is a little off. I'm not sure how the queen gets to a5 in this position. Maybe you meant a different point in the video?
@@chesswithcoachmark I'm sorry, try looking at 56:36
Yes, Qxh4 loses the queen due to Rxh4, but that's not much worse than Qa5 because the queen will be lost in either case.
@@chesswithcoachmark Doh!
46:49 Why isn’t …Qxd4 the superior move order?
Yes, absolutely both moves are crushing and winning for black and should force resignation.
at 15:42 why doesnt white take the rook on bXb1
Hi Teleologician, thanks for watching. I'm sorry, I don't understand your question. There is no piece on b1 at 15:42 in the video. Did you mean somewhere else?
@@chesswithcoachmarkno at that spot white has a bishop pointing at your rook, why didn’t they take your rook.
Ah, ok you're talking about Bxb8. White's queen is being attacked, so if white takes the rook, white loses the queen.
@@chesswithcoachmark Yeah ur right thanks
@@Teleologician No problem.
