True! Except my household was based on Hebrew Roots, which was more religious than it was trying to have a relationship with God. TOO strict and when ANYTHING crossed the line that was deemed holy by God (only through my Nana), it was from the enemy. All the grandkids were extremely sheltered and lived in a bubble with my mom’s side of the family.

Cussing is still not a thing here in Uganda up until now so we were literally green. By the way it sounds crazy but I’ve just gotten to know more about the secular world after joining Uni
As a Christian, I was allowed to watch Harry Potter (the “witchcraft” is not actually demonic so it was fine) and SpongeBob, and my family always went trick-or-treating and had fun on Halloween (we just left out the “celebrating evil” part)
My mother was a choir director and Sunday school teacher and praise and worship leader....at church sunday Monday Wednesday Friday Saturday 😂😂😂😂 the good old days. I miss it.
I wasn't raised on an Christian home, but as one of them, this is the true meaning (some examples) of what denying ourselves really mean. You just can't live the same way as others live 🥲
Crazy how many levels/types of Christian homes there are in America. Some things are across the board true for all the kids but comparing a fundamental and mega church kid’s experience is so different.
I was raised atheist for 15 years until making a huge leap to read the Gospels and examine them seriously. Nevertheless, my Christian journey began a year ago now, and I'm soon to be baptised into the Roman Catholic Church. However, I envy all of you who were born and raised Christian. When my parents found out, it was like I had joined a blood cult to them. My father chased me around the living room table, forcing me to denounce God and "repeat after me, it's bullshit! A fucking cult!" and to him I said, "he who denies me before men I will also deny before my father, who is in heaven." It got very heated, even threatening to beat me and "see where your god is then?" to which I simply countered, "do not fear the one who can harm your body, but fear the One who can destroy both body and soul in hell." Even to this day, I face false acceptance with your run-of-the-mill sky daddy and ridicule. This reminds me of when Jesus said- 34 “Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. 36 And a person's enemies will be those of his own household." -Matthew 10:34-36
see, the halloween and cursing things i *kinda* get, but everything else is just dumb. harry potter and wizards of waverly place are literally made for kids. it’s not like your children are watching them learning actual spells on how to curse people😭
Why do you kinda get it? Are you Christian? Halloween is related to bad things like yknow witches, ghosts we are against that in Christianity, other than the Holy ghost, so yeah. Cursing is because the bible clearly states that cursing is a sin. Harry potter and WWP is about witchcraft, it doesn't matter if they aren't learning spells but it's literally about witchcraft. In the bible, it states that witchcraft is really bad. Christian parents don't want their children exposed to satanic or unholy things, so that's why.
God is holy and does not tolerate our sins. Our punishment for sin is death and an eternity in hell. To pay the price for our sins, God sent His Son Jesus, Who never sinned, to die on a cross in place of us. Jesus rose again three days later. Believe in your heart that Jesus lived a sinless life, died for your sins, and rose again! You will be forgiven of your sins and receive eternal life!
I always used to hear how great Harry Potter was but honestly I was never sad I couldn’t read or watch it. Even if I was allowed to I don’t think I would because it just doesn’t catch my eye. So it worked out perfectly!!!😊❤
But i am a Christian and i was raised in a perfect christian family, and i believe in God, but I am also a Potterhead(but it doesn't it's my idol, i am just a fan you know), i have read the books and i have watched the movies of Harry Potter and I love it.Actually Harry Potter can teach you many kind things, beacuse the main character Harry Potter is so nice and you can learn a lot of things from him as well.I just don't understand what's wrong with that.
@@sophiealexanyan you can watch Harry potters dude LOL i watch anime and horror films as a Christian, watching the show it’s self is not a sin. what is a sin tho? *doing* witch craft, there’s nothing wrong with watching it, since as Christian we *know* it’s real. Being lustful while watching a show. If ur watching a horror movie and someone is being killed, thinking “I wish I could do that to that person irl..” is sinful Shows and music can be *very* bad for some, since they can be tempting and or lead them to be sinful, which is why we should be *very* careful with what we watch/listen to. A lot of Christian’s think ur not allowed to listen to specific type of music, but honestly, as long as u listen to it by ur self, so no one else can hear and be tempted, and as long as u have self control, and it isn’t tempting you to do *any* sins, I really don’t see anything wrong with it.. I hate Harry potter, but if u like it man, that’s fine. As long as u aren’t *doing* witch craft I guess💀

Gosh, I thought I was the only one who wasn’t allowed to watch spongebob, glad to see someone else I can relate with!
Exactly!
Same! My mom didn't allow me and my sister to watch Spongebob and Harry Potter when we were little. My mom thought Spongebob was too colorful and annoying, she thought it would give us brain problems!
@@keagaming9837LOL SAME but now she doesnt care anymore and me and my sis never cared to watch it
I am so sorry !
SpongeBob is amazing🌈
He is cute. He has a good work ethic, and he's a good friend.
As for being too colorful, I don't know what that means.
I cannot live in a vannilla world.
I need CHOCOLATE ! CHOCOLATE ! CHOCOLATE !
😂❤😊
I'm not afraid to admit it. I love Jesus and I watch SpongeBob.
Don't watch the new ones though .They all suck.
@hummus1874 it's true spongebob is great.
I am a Catholic and my family used to sit and have Harry Potter movie marathons together many times. It's all fiction and I'm pretty sure they didn't think we were gullible enough to practise witchcraft in real life lmao 😂
This is so random but this is what I say instead of cussing (it works I’ve never cursed) crudglemcmudglemuffins (pronunciation: crud-jel-mc-mud-jel-muff-ins-)
Also, I was allowed to read Harry Potter but my parents made it very clear that magic and witchcraft is NOT REAL.
My 5 year old daughter has taken to saying "oh biscuits" 😂
This is very true 😂 don’t forget that in replace of SpongeBob was veggie tales and
“ YES you have to practice the music for the Easter play!”
MY PASTOR USED THIS EXACT SLIDE TEMPLATE THIS MORNING IM DYING BRO😭😭
I am christian and my mom let me watch Harry Potter
Same
Pretty accurate, but watching Thats So Raven and not spongebob is wild lol.
Ngl I never make up other words instead of cuss words when I hurt myself I just sit a screech in pain 😭
Fair enough, lol.
Same😂

As being raised in a Christian home, it is not this strict. We just didn’t cuss as much.
Agreed and don't forget to always honor and respect your parents❤

Heh, my family usually says "Fishpaws!" But I also say "Great blobs of goo!", " Bubbling Belovin!" And "Nitrogen monoxide!"
“Wake up. We’re going to church in 30 mins”
😂so real
The Halloween part is so reall
And I have never watched doctor strange as well
On Halloween my church would have Hallelujah Night. Kids would dress up as people from the Bible. We had music, face painting, games, food and treats. It was fun actually.

I didn't celebrate Halloween BUT the day after, when the candy was 1/2 price, I could get whatever I wanted 😁
I wasn’t raised in one, but as a Christian now I wish I would’ve been. Things would’ve been so different..
I'm pleasantly surprised I'm not the only one :)
at 15 i was under the impression that “no homo” was short for “no homicide” like “ay chill, i won’t kill u bro”

Stay strong! As long as your children understand why Harry Potter is wrong and as long as they know the satanic parts are wrong then it's ok for them to watch it. My parents didn't let me and my sister watch it until we were older and knew that it was wrong. Same thing with Twilight!
Way to go Godly parents!❤

I was raised Christian and I’m forever grateful that my parents never let me watch SpongeBob or cartoon network😂
I wasn’t allowed to celebrate Halloween not even in the slightest way. And if the church celebrated it, we’d have to find a new church… 😅
Halloween is not with the teachings of the Bible it is opposed to the techie of the Bible. We as Christians we should follow what is written in the Bible the Bible says in 1 Peter 1:15but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct,” let me ask id Halloween holy in how it is celebrated. Is putting up skeletons and caskets and ghosts and anything scary really show anything holy like God. Even though u might feel that there is nothing wrong as children if God their are some practices we should refrain from because they are of the world and God told us in Roman’s 12:2 “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. “

LMAO MY FAVORITE IS WHEN MY MOM ALMOST SAID THE ‘F WORD’ BUT THEN CUT HERSELF OFF AND SAID “Ffffffruits of the Holy Spirit!”

That's not okay because God told us not to watch that stuff
@@believerofChrist09there is nothing wrong with watching SpongeBob and I was raised in a Christian house my mom loves to watch Henry potter Henry potter is not bad unless it becomes a idle and leads you away from the lord
As long as you know that the satanic stuff of Harry Potter and all is wrong, then yeah! My mom didn't let me and my sister watch most of that stuff until we were older and knew better!

I grew up only watching Christian channels it was what was allowed. The others were put on for news but otherwise we didn’t except on weekends when there kid’s shows. Even tho Ironically Halloween is actually a Christian holiday, no one talks about it!!
I didn’t do any of theses, but I did pray with my family
I was raised atheist for 15 years until making a huge leap to read the Gospels and examine them seriously. Nevertheless, my Christian journey began a year ago now, and I'm soon to be baptised into the Roman Catholic Church.
However, I envy all of you who were born and raised Christian. When my parents found out, it was like I had joined a blood cult to them. My father chased me around the living room table, forcing me to denounce God and "repeat after me, it's bullshit! A fucking cult!" and to him I said, "he who denies me before men I will also deny before my father, who is in heaven."
It got very heated, even threatening to beat me and "see where your god is then?" to which I simply countered, "do not fear the one who can harm your body, but fear the One who can destroy both body and soul in hell."
Even to this day, I face false acceptance with your run-of-the-mill sky daddy and ridicule. This reminds me of when Jesus said-
34 “Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. 36 And a person's enemies will be those of his own household."
-Matthew 10:34-36

No harry potter was fr the first thing that came to my mind 😂😂😂
see, the halloween and cursing things i *kinda* get, but everything else is just dumb. harry potter and wizards of waverly place are literally made for kids. it’s not like your children are watching them learning actual spells on how to curse people😭
Why do you kinda get it? Are you Christian? Halloween is related to bad things like yknow witches, ghosts we are against that in Christianity, other than the Holy ghost, so yeah. Cursing is because the bible clearly states that cursing is a sin.
Harry potter and WWP is about witchcraft, it doesn't matter if they aren't learning spells but it's literally about witchcraft. In the bible, it states that witchcraft is really bad. Christian parents don't want their children exposed to satanic or unholy things, so that's why.
Amen to having good godly discerning parents

My “cuss words” are fudgeaduckles, glory be, and Sweet Baby Jesus🤣🤣🤣
Oh we had something similar to fudgeduckles! We had fudge and fudruckers. And don't forget about the top tier Fusku! Lol
Thanks ❤

@@sophiealexanyan you can watch Harry potters dude LOL
i watch anime and horror films as a Christian, watching the show it’s self is not a sin. what is a sin tho?
*doing* witch craft, there’s nothing wrong with watching it, since as Christian we *know* it’s real.
Being lustful while watching a show.
If ur watching a horror movie and someone is being killed, thinking “I wish I could do that to that person irl..” is sinful
Shows and music can be *very* bad for some, since they can be tempting and or lead them to be sinful, which is why we should be *very* careful with what we watch/listen to.
As a christian, i can confirm this is scary accurate
Bless you in Jesus name -Greetings from FlockofChrist
Only reason I was allowed to read and watch Harry Potter was because we just saw it as a cool story and nothing more. Completely fake and fiction. I know it’s different for other homes though.
