SO last year I decided to climb mount Whitney . I flew in to San Diego . Finally decided to sleep in my rental SUV . I was so surprised to notice the immense number of ppl sleeping in their cars . I had a hard time finding a spot . Every corner you think of , you’ll find someone beat you to it . I settled for an empty spot near a gym and Walmart . Worked out for couple of nights . But the stealth of it really depends on the vehicle and location . Buts it’s definitely a subculture in California, where I always like spend some nights In my rental . This Man is living the dream :) I wish him all success and safety

This is - by far - one the best minivan builds I've ever seen. Off the top of my head, I can think of three other minivan builds that rival it in efficiency and ingenuity. Most seem concerned with how "cute" they look and are essentially impractical for real boondocking-style minivanlife. I don't count builds that are gorgeous for the sake of appearances either. As I recently told someone who did a beautiful build, if I'm going to carry extra weight, I would prefer it was in drinking water and food and not unnecessary wood. All of that extra wood helps get you stuck when you're off grid whereas all of that extra drinking water and food will keep you from dying in the event you get stuck. Life is full of choices....;-) Thanks for sharing your wonderful - and practical - minivan build, Simon.

It's because everything is built to scale based on his physical size, and if you look at him in the front seat of that small minivan, it all comes together. It looks huge because everything is to scale and your brain is saying that bed has to be 6+ feet long like a normal bed and everything is huge, but it's really not. Everything in there is a bit smaller than what it looks like, but because it is all to scale with almost nothing to reference it against, there you are.

The way the bed slides out is ingenious use of the space. You've solved the "Murphy bed or floor bed" dilemma.. .

You truly amaze and inspire me. How about this for a T-Shirt. Picture of your van, above it says "Foresty Forest" and under it says "The Real MacGyver"

What utility!! You've fit so much into such a small space and, man, the ingenuity is astounding. You'd think it's cramped but you manage to make it somehow so capacious!

Nice tour FF! I recall stumbling on your channel about a year ago and really enjoyed watching the evolution of the van as well as your life.. great stuff, and of course things went up a notch or 2 when Crockett joined your crew...(noticed you saved the best for last.. Lol) really enjoy your content!

    Thanks Forest!
A great choice for a video. I just love your "Spaceship van".
You've really grown in your time here. I do hope you keep it up. So many entertaining clips from Bigfoot(that one spooked me! Lol) to a frozen wind burned faced Forest battling a snowstorm in a windy blizzard on a mountain(of course..lol).
You are an adventurer Forest! Thank you for sharing the adventure!

Ah, I wondered what you were doing during the last couple days of rain here. The perfect time to do a video on this topic. Your van build in a mini van is pretty thoughtful of the space you had to work with. You are keeping me inspired.

3:58 - "I've been a full-time hashtag van life youtuber since August 2019. I need to start getting some of those half-naked selfies out on the beach." Haha, yes. You understand the essence of what makes a TH-cam van life channel worth watching.

I just bought a GoSun solar cooker and it’s awesome even on cloudy days when it’s in solar mode. I have the fusion which allows you to cook in a 12 volt to their portable battery or car port/ standard AC plug. Most amazing thing is that the cooker while plugged in only draws 160 watts. In the sun I can cook a pork roast cut into thick pieces in 45 minutes. Compliments my Biolite 2 cookers as I can set the solar cooker right away before I set up camp so food is cooking first with the sun while I set up camp for the family. I’m cooking 4 times a week outside at parks and I see quite a few camper vans and they come over to chat about how I cook.

I love how you keep living the simple life. I see many van life people try to pack all the luxuries of a home into a van and spend a ton of money. They spend all their time complaining about things not working right or trying to find a place to get it repaired. I love how you keep it simple and that your Crockpot is the ***STAR*** of the show. I hope to cross paths with you sometime in the near future. We are selling the BIG house and moving to a tiny home plus converting the Honda Element to be an E-HOTEL. Keep the videos coming.
