My 2008 Ninja 250 tank rusted after I parked it for several years. The fuel door might be the culprit because the gasket/seal looks bad, though it may be a symptom instead of a cause. I did take precautions when I parked it years ago with Ethanol-free E0, a full can of Sea Foam, a brand new OEM petcock, drained carbs, etc. The fuel doors look almost identical, which makes sense when you consider that this really is an EX250L/M in other markets. Can you point me to the Chinese gasket/seal you bought?

If you are gonna store ANYTHING that takes a liquid fuel, ALWAYS store it empty. Gasoline doesnt last years even if its ethonal free.
I'll have to rewatch the vid to remember about the gasket.

@@Rangerscott69 Yeah, it was also “stabilized” with a full can of Sea Foam but they only promise two years and this was 3x longer. Even so, it doesn’t look like the stabilizer failed… it looks like it was probably the brand-new OEM petcock. The seal/gasket is definitely cracked up and needs replacement regardless but I feel it’s a symptom, not a cause. All that fuel went somewhere because there is no gum or varnish left behind… just surface rust and a white crust at the fuel door. Can’t hurt to replace the cracked seal too. Thanks!

Question sir , did having this rusty tank and fuel pump make the gas gauge flash and not allow the bike to crank . This is my issue and I looked at the gas cap and saw the same rust and looked on the inside of the tank and saw rust .

The whole pump assembly was toast.

@@user-em4el6rf5v got one off ebay. If there's been water in the tank high enough to reach pump assembly, the pump and pressure regular will be completely rusted.
