Proper funnelling and patience are the keys. BM = Barbarian King; BC = Archer Queen. As a hybrid player myself, I use 90% of 1st stage attacks using BC. I use my heroes for either funnelling or tanking; the main troops will finish the base. In my opinion and based on experience, BC is great on stage 1, and BM is great on stage 2. Take note if both heroes are the same max LVL. Funnel and value-wise, it goes to BC. Troop + hero combo goes to BM. I'll pick BC for this one. As I said, proper funnelling and patience are the keys.

The copter ai is so bad I’ve had several times where my copter stops attacking defensive buildings just to start attacking the barbarian from the guard post which has resulted in many lost potential 6 stars

for me the battle copter better just cuz the ability even lvl 1 it goes so fast to the corner buildings and save against time faill
