    Listening in Penrith in outer Sydney, Australia. Now at age 81 these hymns/songs have taken me back to days of youth and the strong emphasis on the primacy of scripture in song as a teaching medium alongside the preached message of salvation. May many who are facing terrible days of apprehension an fear put their trust in the Lord Jesus.

      Keith I am listening in Dallas and like you, these are the songs I was raised on and they mean so much. I am 77 and these bring me a lot of comfort. Hope you are staying well during this awful Coronavirus. May God be with you and keep you safe.

    Beautiful music, how refreshing it is to hear music that makes sense SCRIPTURALLY! It seems not many composers today have a clear understanding of scripture.

    I wish i had a million " thumbs up" to give to you . I don't know when i have enjoyed anything so much . Of course you were singing about My Great Redeemer. I am in a nursing home and i just happened to find you just when i needed to . You folks play so so beautiful, and the singing was like a well rehearsed choir . I now know who you are and will be watching for your next service . Thank you and blessings from Indiana.

    This was just wonderful. It reminds me of my days at West Croydon Baptist, London, England, and the Stephen Olford Crusades, also in Croydon, and the Billy Graham Crusades. Call me old-fashioned but guitars and synths just don't cut it (and neither do modern 'worship songs' - but that's another matter!). Thank you so much for posting this.

    Terriffic!! And what a loss Stephen Vincent was to the Lord's church on earth - but not in heaven! The wonderful gifts he exercised here, in such an unassuming manner, will have been honed to perfection in the glorious presence of his Saviour Jesus, and be redounding to the glory of our Triune God. Hallelujah!

      Yeah, that’s true. The one pianist (Mary Jane Dick) is 90, I think they said in one of the videos. The other one is probably around the same age. It’s good to see the musicians playing at such a high level (playing the hymns at normal speed-in my experience, they play it pretty slowly, not hitting any wrong notes, etc.)

      The main ones are Ruth Snell-piano and organ (starting at number 57); Mary Jane Dick-piano; and Steve Vincent-organ and piano. Some of the other pianists were Wanda Kroeker (the first 2 or 3), Ken Royar, Lola Penner; and Helga Medd (she became one of the main ones in number 57.) There are a couple of others that did it just in one hymn sing.

    Here I am in Canberra Australia, on Easter Sunday afternoon 2020 in insolation listening to these beautiful Hymns. Thank you. Though many are unfamiliar to me as I wa brought up in the Anglican Church using the Book of Common Praise in India, they still stirred the love of Jesus in my heart. Which Hymnal do you use? I used to sing the chorus of your Hymn 197 ...'Living He Loved Me'.... in Sunday School as a boy way back in the 1960s, but never sang the hymn. Can you tell me the first line? God bless you and great singing. May the peace of our Lord Jesus be with all of us especially at this time. Kerry Edwards.

    • @Drewgmaddox
      @Drewgmaddox  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Kerry, thank you for worshiping with us.
      The Hymnal used at Palm Village is called "Worship Hymnal" and is published by the General Conference of the Mennonite Brethren Church.
      Here is the first verse of Living He Loved Me:
      One day when Heaven was filled with His praises
      One day when sin was as black as could be
      Jesus came forth to be born of a virgin
      Dwelt among men, my example is He
      Chorus
      Living, He loved me
      Dying, He saved me
      Buried, He carried my sins far away
      Rising, He justified freely forever
      One day He's coming
      Oh glorious day, oh glorious day
      Thanks for your question.

      Hi Drew, it was a joy. I saw the Lebanese Flag on the wall and thought it might be Mennonite! I will listen in again to others. Thank you for the song words. I did find it on the internet.

    Drew Maddox : Is the organ, so to speak, a real organ , or digital Allen Organ?

    • @Drewgmaddox
      @Drewgmaddox  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately I do not know much about the organ. It came from a church and can be connected to real pipes, but in this installation is attached to speakers up high at the left and right sides of the screen. There is also a big speaker on the floor behind the podium. Maybe someone from Palm Village can chime in with more info...

      It's an electric pipe organ. It's hauptwerk.

    What name brand organ is this? I cannot see name plate as it is too far over from the left. Is this a pipe or electronic?

      Patrick Saxon, I think it's a Baldwin. I know they made stop tab organs with lights above them to indicate that the stops had been drawn. I played one back in the 80s. Rodgers made them also, but their reed stop tabs were red.

      Jonah Askew, it certainly could be. I can't read it, even when I blow up the photo. Taking a closer look at the stop tabs, I think you're right about it being a Rodgers.

      I cant see what it us either, but I know Hammond and Wurlitzer organs were popular church organs as well.

      I doubt that it's a pipe organ. This is not a church, it's a retirement home. It sounds like an electronic organ.

    Singing helps for a “singing”. Lost me on the second piano solo.

      When they first start playing the instruments, it is a time of quiet meditation and prayer. After a few minutes (8-10), the singing will begin. Give it another chance and you will love it.

      They are made to do that. That's how you get the volume.
