I really enjoy the angle you take when doing these reviews. Being so critical of something like the scale of one horses neck compared to another might bore some people to death, but god I can't get enough of it! Can't wait to see these with a Wisco quality paint job.

Hehe, why thank you! I'm currently assembling the last few horses for my hearthguard. After that, the painting frenzy ensues!

Looks like a nice set. I had considered getting some of their crusader and/or sergents for Cresent and Cross. But I never got C&C, and now I am waiting out for Saga 2, as well as focussing on minis for other games. May get them yet.

I've got a box of their sergeants on the way! I'll be using their unbarded horses to mount my Byzantine Hearthguard. I didn't like the size/proportion differences between the metal GB horses and the mongol ponies.
A couple of my buds have loads of their knights. They look great! I think they're the way to go for Milites/Crusaders.

Those 'rags' are the horsehair standards of the mongols. There were seven tribes, so they had seven tails on some standards, others were a single, mop -like affair. They were black and had a certain gallows look, part of their psychological warfare.

Nice presentation. I think that the comparison between your Mongol and GW figure may have looked better if they were both in the middle of the same stride. The Mongol horse is bunched up as it is about to spring forward. The GW horse has already made that stride and is at full stretch. Just saying.

Are you going to use those cavalry as steppe tribe nomad mercenaries? I think you have the beginnings of a Hunnic army with those models.

Yup! That is the plan for now, although it will be nice to have a headstart on Huns/Steppes/maybe true Mongols w/ Saga 2.0. It really depends how well the airbrush/dip speed painting goes. I generally hate horses, so if it doesn't go well for these guys, then the chances of 20-30 more are pretty slim!

Cool review, thanks. I am not a bog fan of these compared to other fireforge productions. Do you have a suggestion for plastic eastern cavalry (this would be for a low fantasy saga/Conan rather than an historical army)?

Thanks! Nothing jumping out at me particularly but the Song of Ice and Fire stuff might have what you're looking for!

Interesting review, the Mongol's rode small horses.
