    Thanks for always acknowledging the little mistakes. It gives us, lesser talented maker’s, much needed self assurance. Your “Good enough for me”, would be “perfect” for most everyone else. You don’t get all bogged down with microscopic regrets which I believe is what keeps us self reliant, motivated and productive. You are a most inspirational homesteader and, in this world-going-mad, about the only TH-camr that makes me wish I was a lot younger. Thanks for everything...again!

      Just a point of interest and perhaps the question will answer itself as you continue the build. How do you plan to vent the greenhouse during the summer days. From what I've been told plant growth tends to stop when the air temperature hits the 90s and above. A solar powered fan in the apex would help or shade cloth suspended above the roof also helps a lot. Take care and as always fabulous workmanship.

    Hi, I love your videos, I'm a professional gardener and have worked in the trade for over 30 years. Just a bit of advice.... Ventilation is imperative with a greenhouse. Red spider mite loves hot dry conditions and it's a devil to control if you don't get the ventilation sorting. All the top pains of glass should be opening. I speak from experience. I was in-charge of a national trust garden for many years and one glasshouse had no roof vents and it was very hard to grow anything in, we had to retro fit rood vents in the end.

    • @JohnnyMotel99
      @JohnnyMotel99 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Perhaps the end walls will have venting panes.

    • @KrisHarbour
      @KrisHarbour  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The gable ends the back windows and the door are vents. I calculated it all and that is enough area for ventilation. The gable ends face the predominant wind direction so there will be air moving right through the roof. That is far better than just some vents at the top in my mind.

    Nice communication between you and your helper, I've seen so many people working with a helper and they always assume the other person is on the same page. Oddly enough the helper cannot read minds and you cannot read their mind. The job always goes much smoother with a few words. If you were looking for a word (not trying to be a "knowitall") those small chunks at the bottom of the glass are called cleats. The drought definitely affects most springs. Rain affects the ground water level and therefore some springs that are high in elevation might not work. It seems to me that the spring close to your lake isn't an actual spring but an underwater stream that comes from the lake, i.e. it flows relatively high up/close to the forest floor. The main difference is that the water oozing from a proper spring (which is deep ground water) is most often drinkable as i. Whereas, an underground river water is pretty much the same as the lake water. 10/10 greenhouse!

    very, very good job with the greenhouse! the only point I would be very concerned about personally would be the use of glass for the glass of the greenhouse. I have always prioritized plexiglass for this, because in our region there is very, very often strong hail with ping-pong ball-sized hailstones! that would be the total desaster for panes of glass of this size and thickness. greets from Germany

    Beautiful sturdy structure that will last eons. Can’t wait to see it full of food plants!

    After some wildfire on our property that removed a few acres of brush, we discovered a steep hill with several extremely damp areas. I already dug into one and am getting 150 gallons a day from it. such a silver lining.
