Crysis came on the peak of the evolution of gaming, and it was at the top of it. Everything from physics to graphics was at its finest. Not forgetting the gameplay introducing the unique feature of the nanosuit interaction and the huge extension of the island. It really was the maximum experience on gaming.
Phantom Driver 2007... The year of Call of Duty 4, Armed Assault, Bioshock, Halo 3, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2, Halo 3, Half Life 2: Episode 2, and Crysis. There was truly no greater year for gaming. Everything since then with a few exceptions has been simply sub-par by comparison.
I don't understand why people shit on the gameplay in crysis 1 so much. IMO it was some of the best gameplay we have ever seen. You are dropped into an area, you have an objective to accomplish and how you reach that objective is completely up to you, but it isn't fully open world so that you don't lose focus. There were so many little nooks and crannies to use in the levels, sewer pipes, hidden paths that you probably walk past 100s of times. And then you have the suit, unlike the other 2 games, the suit isnt meant to make you unstoppable, its meant to give you an edge over the enemy. It rewarded you for knowing and abusing the limits of your suit. You could get so many combos going with the suit if you knew how. My favourite one was you double tap "z" (i think that was prone) which turns you invisible. You then got within about 20 metres of an enemy at which point you quickly double tapped the sprint key which switches you into max speed, run up to the enemy, double tap melee which also (if i remember correctly) activated max strength, whacking the guy in the face and ragdolling him. Then after all this you would double tap "s" which put you back in Armour mode and you start taking down enemies. Then you have the aliens, I don't understand why so many people disliked the aliens, I for once loved the vertical gameplay they brought, it kept you on your toes and made you feel like you were actually battling a different enemy. Whereas in Crysis 2 and 3 you have human enemies and aliens but they're basically just bigger more powerful humans. Its a shame Crytek have lost their way. I would love for all the creative people behind Crysis 1 + Warhead to band together into a new studio and basically make a spiritual successor to those games.
It's extremely repetitive - even though it's fun and without the hardware to run it properly, you can't even enjoy multiplayer until you get Crysis 2. This game reminds me specifically of classic PC shooters like Delta Force: Land Warrior - only with prettier graphics. It needs to be remade into an alien-less war against North Koreans.

Every mission their weaponry change, making you have to change weapons to not be low on ammo. Snipers become more present. Stronger vehicles show up: Helicopters and tanks. Not only nanosuit enemies appear, but also elite variants of soldiers, using silencers and laser sights.
This game really got me into PCs. I remember I asked my dad for one thing and one thing only. An 8800GT to be able to run it at least. It was a dream come true at the time. Feels like it was forever ago.
Crysis is famous for its trend setting graphic milestone. It has great story line along with gameplay filled with glory. And then comes this marvelous soundtrack which took this game to next level.
It is a shame that most people didn't even notice the game because all 3 crysis games(2007,2011,2013,14?) came out when COD was "still good",if the crysis games came out 2015+, more people would have played them and maybe Crysis 4 would have been made.
Crysis had a great idea that was taken fully advantage of, Crysis 2 had an interesting setting with different gameplay, Crysis 3 had the most emotional story out of the three games with a very thoughtful ending cut scene.
Crysis was one of the best gaming experience I've ever had. Stealth missions, huge battles, great story (for an FPS), awesome graphic.... Can't wait for the second one
Ah yes, going out on the deck of the carrier on the mission Reckoning, wading right into the waves of Ceph Scouts with a Gauss rifle loaded in one hand and the minigun on the back, on maximum difficulty. A shame Nomad didn't get any screen time in the later installments of the series.
This music also comes if you were in the ship reactor at the end and then, if you have repared it, go upstares to your final fight. You know, something big is comming, and the whole situation is very exiting. Great track.
Oh, and of course the music was absolutely superb. All I mean to say is that I like the first Crysis and Warhead better than Crysis 2, but I'm not that guy who can't see a games good qualities just because I don't appreciate the very bad decisions they made in the name of getting Crysis to play on consoles, where it absolutely doesn't belong.
It is really good but I must say that Crysis Warhead Soundtracks are just AWESOME! Those are the best soundtracks I've ever heard, especially the hovercraft pursuit theme and the main menu theme.
Loved the Crysis trilogy. First one gave me that wonderful open world feeling. Second was a bit meh but still did a good job by paving the way for Crysis 3 (storywise). Crysis 3 had a great story, a fitting ending, awesome graphics and a little more options to tackle the game.
I hate how they took out nomad in new crysis games people could relate to that guy because they never saw him game would just be more immersive expirience.
Nomad, Sykes and Prophet were the biggest badasses of 2007-2008 and what did they get? They were either forgotten, written in the new games for some minor parts or had humiliating deaths as early in the new games as was possible.

Both HL2 and Crysis 1 are games that made a huge breakthrough in gaming. Which one is better is up to opinion really. HL2 is more iconic in a way, kinda the same way HL1 was. Crysis is more technologically iconic. The "open world-ness" of the game, the graphics and physics made the game stand out alot.
Playing this game everyday back there when i was a child ahh so many memories in Singleplayer or even Multiplayer damn every time when i hear this song hit me right in the feels man. Its great that will be a remaster will be amazing to get back again in this game i love it!
