That's going to be a great looking boat I really enjoy redoing older boats you will really like that padding I it put under my carpet on my older ranger it really helps at the end of the day can't wait to see the end results.
Your Ranger is definitely worth the $ that you are putting into it. The rangers of this vintage were the best built and best looking in my opinion. The 208/520 vx hull was also one of Rangers best hulls. You basically have one of the best hulls from the best era. Can you get the compartment lid from ranger? It looks like it delaminated.
You are right about the Ranger hull. I love this boat and I just need to take better care of it. It would be hard for me to pay $100,000 for a new boat so, I going to fix my old boat and make it new. And for the lids, yes you can buy new one but can you re-fiberglass the old ones? I will find out.
what's up Mike, what a to do list! I'm in the same boat as you, just haven't pull the trigger on getting them done. till the 22nd of February at Russell ✌
I admire you for taking on this project. As you know we pretty much have the exact same boat but mine is 2005 and they still called it 520VX. Are you interested in getting rid of those rims? Mine are not that style but they should fit if i use my center caps. One of my rims is cracked and i have it on my spare.
Good luck Michael I hope it turns out well. I know you’re taking on a tremendous project. I’d be interested to know some of the costs of say the seat covers and the fenders. I have a 2009 188vx similar colors. Those wheels you purchased are sharp. Would you have a link to the place you bought them at. I know you said Amazon. Like I said, big job. Good luck.
I had a thought that might help you out. Your weak lids. I have one lid that’s weak and had a thought once to reinforce it with a piece of plywood on the inside the lid and use a few screws through the top of the lid. However I didn’t want screws to be seen in the carpet. You are changing your carpet so it might be an easy solution.
Here is the link to the rims Viking Aluminum Trailer Wheel... www.amazon.com/dp/B0BFBTT8XN?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share The fender were $850 for the right side and like $900 for the left side. That is round about prices. I’m not looking at the invoice but I’m close. The seat covers are around $750 without the front and back fishing seats over. And their prices is always changing. I bought must of this stuff February of 2024 just did not get around to install it.
BH, for 2025 you are coming out HARD buddy! I will have to get at you later because I came HARD for 2025 also. I will make a video for that so you can see it.
I didn't even know ranger boat made seat covers. I have a 2009 Z 522 and my stitching is coming apart. My lids are doing the same thing in my ranger. Can you give us a ball park price on what ranger charged you for the seat covers
Yes, you can call Ranger and order new seat cover. They are expensive but you can order them. Mine cost about $850 and most Ranger lids become soft over time. Most other boat companies make there lids out of aluminum.

I see one guy said the padding made his leg more tired at the end of the day trying to balance more on the padding. I will see.
Nice, cant wait to see the finished rig.
Going to look as good as new. I hope the new look bring some first place cash prizes, so you can get the money you spent back
And you KNOW THIS! That's the only way I will be happy.
Can't wait to see the end result and learn some things also. As a boat owner we all have the same issue. Good luck 👍🏽
Yes, boats have something going on at all times. Almost finished with the carpet and will move to the body work.
Big project! I certainly will be watching the progress buddy.

Awesome...I have a 2009 198vx with Gen 2 as well. I'm also looking to upgrade
Basspro I think they still have the sale on for all the graphs. You will not find cheaper prices.
Man this gonna be interesting and much cheaper than a new ranger, good luck on the water bru
That’s why I’m doing all this work because I will never buy a new $100,000 boat.

I want to have everything done by EZ trail first tournament.

I would be looking to sale them down the road but I have not got them mounted yet. If you want to check back in a month or so.

Boy, what are you doing out that way? I going to have to keep my eyes on you….
Can't wait to see you giving me those twenty dollars off the side of your newly rebuilt boat 🤣🤣🤣🤣
This year you will pay for me new boat upgrades, $20 at-a-time.
I didn't even know ranger boat made seat covers. I have a 2009 Z 522 and my stitching is coming apart. My lids are doing the same thing in my ranger. Can you give us a ball park price on what ranger charged you for the seat covers

That boat already looks better just with the new sho keep us posted on the final product!
Yes, that Sho is sweet!
I may be wrong but I think ranger offers new lids I don't think money is an issue
Sometime you just have to do things just to see if you can do them. I wanted to see if you can just re-fiberglass the lids to see if that works.
Fenders price?

Ranger makes a coin box I've got the same boat I ordered one and installed it about 4 years ago
Can you email me a picture of it? Michael-welch@comcast.net
Do you think the fish gonna know you did all that? 😂😂😂
