  • In this episode we bring home a 2002 Cushman Truckster to add to our homestead vehicles. This Truckster will be a great for hauling things around our property and making it much easier to get around. First, we have to fix the brakes!
We get our seeds started for our summer vegetable garden. A Ginkgo tree is added to our land to accent our shed.

I found a Ford/ Jacobsen LGT garden tractor that has a rototiller on a rear pto drive, these were made for a number of years and are very useful. If you can find one , that would free up your tractor and give you the ability to farm a decent size plot. These tractors also had lots of other 3 point tools

A friend gave me the boot warmer. Until I used it in the winter I never appreciated it. Tap root will be as long as the plant is tall.

at 12:10 it is a 6 point socket and a square drive breaker bar...turn the socket 90 degrees on the drive to get the correct handle angle.

I bought a cushman several months ago. Mine was used as a maintenance cart in the plant I work in, so it’s propane fueled for inside use. Mine is powered by an omc built twin cylinder engine otherwise it’s very similar to yours. They are very handy and useful for jobs around the homestead and are built very well. You will find lots of uses for them especially with the dump bed, I love using mine around my property and they are great for hauling firewood.

We use ours daily and it was a very good buy after replacing a few parts. My only gripe about it is the clearance. I've bottomed out quite a few times from rocks and I wish it was a few inches higher. I guess I can look into a lift kit or just maintain the trails better.

    • @rogerjustice8835
      @rogerjustice8835 ปีที่แล้ว

@@WalnutsandWineberries I know what you mean they do set pretty low. I've thought about a lift kit as well, I've had it bottom out several times. The rear would be easy to lift but the front has a very unique design to it that would be a little tougher.

Southern Yankee Homestead is right about greasing all of the grease fittings every 10 hours or so. But I also noticed what looked like a lot of movement at the bottom hinge pin on the main beam. It could have just been an old man's imagination but worth looking at. You know that I love you guys channel and it's really great that you are teaching your girls how to grow their own food and fend for themselves. God bless you all. 😊👍👍

Your adventure continues. Great find with the Cushman Meg. It is so much more fun and exciting to resurrect and or repurpose equipment that still has value, kudos to you.
It is tremendous to watch you guys "working" together as a family. That time spent together is among the greatest investments that you will ever make, never forget the joy.
    Bless you all, stay safe.

Your squeak in your backhoe is the pins rubbing on the bushings. Metal on metal. Grease it and it will go away. They should be greased every 10 or so hours of use. If in sand, mud or water grease more frequently.

If you haven't figured it out yet, the big hole in the dash is for the speedometer.
When you get new tires, try to get taller ones. This will give you more ground clearance.
For starting your plants, you need to build a green house. In the barn they won't get enough sun. The barn may stay too cold.

Got a name for your new Cushman. I like the name Chiko. Don’t know if I spelled it right. It might be co at the end. All the Chico truck needs now is a couple of cup holders and some cold beer. You really lucked out on the brakes. Good buy Mag. Your a good papa Jon. It was nice to see how patient you are and how much the girls like helping you out. They will both have green thumbs when the grow up because their papa took the time to teach them. How’s the road doing? Later

Check with your state Agriculture office and they will probably be very helpful in advising where you can get soil testing for nominal fees. That will give you a head start on what, if any, soil supplements you might need to enhance your garden yield.

We had quite a few issues and videos after this one. We finally have it running reliably. We did replace the starter recently. They are great to have when they work. Now we know it inside and out having taken it apart so many times. Good luck!
