The fastest growing tree native to Tasmania is the Eucalyptus regnans, commonly known as the Mountain Ash or Tasmanian Oak. It is a species of eucalyptus tree that can reach impressive heights and has a rapid growth rate. In ideal conditions, the Mountain Ash can grow up to 2 meters (6.5 feet) per year, making it one of the fastest-growing trees in the world. Have you considered this species?

@@mattmaloney9426 I love the mountain ash but they are not great firewood, mainly for pulp and wood chips.
The Karri Tree grows nearly as fast yet has a much more useful timber. It can be used for firewood, furniture, pulp, wood chips, sleepers. Plus they grow to 90m+

Oak trees survive in Australia, plenty of of examples of English oaks 100+yrs old. You have nothing to worry about them not surviving in England.

Eucalyptus grows a lot faster thou. Oaks takes ages to grow. The whole world grows them now I saw tons of eucalyptus plantations when I was travelling in Kenya

@@rraqua1279 that is true, but the statement he made about native English trees not surviving is pure fallacy. I live in Western Australia, we have 1 English oak and 4 Algerian oaks on our property, plus maples and ambers, all are doing great. We have much hotter and drier conditions and they still survive. For example, we had 20mm of rain from October 2023 to April 2024.
