    Hello, great great video. What’s the dimensions, also what material are you using to create the steam. And could you add any Eucalyptus oils to the system to give the aroma in the room?

    What I don't get is mortar is not water proof so you glue everything with mortar aren't all those seems not water proof? I've always used a complete coat of red gaurd over cement board and never had a failure. I've seen allot of these Kerdi showers fail I usually replace with a classic hardie backer plus sealer system.

    Back your screws off a bit so you wont have dips after you water proof seal and tile it. Save yah some grooves on your wall.

    Hello, wouldn't you want to put down some of the red membrane stuff for waterproofing??? Just kerdi board?

  • @texastravieso
    @texastravieso 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Will my residential steam pipe melt the Kerdi fix seal, or the foam Kerdi board, or the Kerdi membrane? Where the copper steam pipe comes through the shower wall to spray steam it is very hot of course. At what point will the foam melt?

      I would use cement board for that area. No longer a problem. Waterproof the area.

      @@tryan7 Do not use any cement board at all (if you are installing the complete schluter system). You will cut the lifetime warranty down to 15 years. All the customer has to do is give customer service a call with any concerns and they'll link you to the field reps ( if needs be).

    Doesn't thinset soak up moisture?

    • @MosaicTileCompany
      @MosaicTileCompany  11 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Bennie - great question! One of the primary ingredients in thinset is portland cement. Once the thinset fully dries it hardens and will not re-emulsify. In fact premium thinsets can be used to install pool tile or tile for water-fountains - applications where the tile is permenantly submerged under water.

    • @thedude2609
      @thedude2609 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Bennie W It depends on the type of thin set, unsanded thin set mortar is mostly portland cement which is the primary ingredient in marble dust that provides the water proofing, it does not absorb water

    Could the kerdi-band be eliminated on the bench by using the urethane sealant to connect the substrates, instead of mortar?

    • @codyperry5331
      @codyperry5331 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It would last a little but eventually seep, water seal everything, everything!

    That floor is not sloped, it’s waved... how can you advertise a product with a how to and have waves in the ground? Lol smh

    • @Chimel31
      @Chimel31 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not really waved, but there is both an access ramp and the shower tray is sloped 4 ways toward the central drain, which makes a very ugly combination. Better a flat Italian shower with no access ramp.
