Nice vid. ! ... The DR-55 should NOT be powered by a 9v PP3 though !! ... It will eventually FRY chips !!! ... It should use 4xAA batteries giving 6v ... The PP3 battery clip, is for attaching a plastic 4xAA battery holder, which is often missing ... Most DEAD Boss DR-55s out there, were killed by over-voltage 9v PP3 batteries wrongly connected ... xXx
🤯 What a kick ass kick drum!!! This things sounds so flippin' gnarly, what a project! Glad you brought this back out and decided to finish!! The results are superb!! Looking forward to any sample packs and music you make with this!!! 🤘🐀 - And long live mac & cheese! haha!! 🧀🧀🐀
Awesome HC/Gabber Kick... Usually im not a Circuit Bending fan but that one is just fantastic ! And i really like the track, its a 100 % head banging for sure !
My first piece of digital kit was a BOSS Dr-5 (not this DR-55). It was made for guitarists with a fretboard UI on the LCD. This looks like a whole different beast! So crazy.
@@StephenMcLeod no, I sold it around 2005, but I saw a used one at a local shop recently for $95. I almost bought it just for nostalgia, but after seeing what’s out there now, it’s just not a piece worth owning IMO. The drum samples and usability were pretty awful.
Made me nervous when I first saw the video topic... knowing you have something like 10 Gameboys that are crying for help! This turned out awesome. Now you've got a very 'you' drum machine that pairs perfectly with the modular. That outro jam was beefy! 🤯
Do you listen to the band Daughters by chance? They went from grindcore, to weird post-punk, to even weirder post-punk. The jam reminds me of their latest!
Pahahaha how dare you. Nah, that's a fair concern. I have come a long way since my days of butchering Game Boys. Many DMGs had to suffer mutilation in order for me to get to this point.

Thanks very much for the tip! I appreciate it.
I got one that somebody hardwired a 9v adapter to it so it has a steady hum to it. Not a good idea
duude! thats so cool... I had one in hands last year... sold it, now i regret :)
Thanks a lot man! It's such a nice wee box. I clearly had to defile it. The kick drum is out of control now mind haha.
Hi AMFAS Really nice work with the DR-55.
Hey thank you!
I can’t say I’m happy you did this to my favourite little drum machine but I can say I’m happy with the sounds
I helped evolve it!!! :D
😂awesome vid man! I own this too and was considering selling it since it is so limiting. Nice to see someone circuit bend it.
I keep meaning to do more to it like individual outputs, but I think I've tortured it enough...

I've actually seen one of those DR-5s a long time ago! Do you still have it?!

dope video!
I wouldn’t think that one should mod such a classic sounding little machine regardless
That's cool. Don't mod the one you own then.
I like it! I deff think use of a walwart is in order.
Super nice mashine🤘🤘
It's no bad!
Sounds perfectly down and dirty grunge-gore fun. Whatever you did to it turned out super Atomic❗🔥🎵💥🍄👌
I wish I knew!!
Top sample pack from it 👌🏻
Only the finest.

4:12 bad trip bad trip bad trip 😨
hahahahaha
I was always wondering if I could trigger my TR-8 with a foot switch, at the START/STOP.......?
I suspect you probably can! I'm not sure what kind of pulse comes from this though... there are some good articles on it kicking about though.
What pre amp module are you using? Love the saturation it gives
I believe this was the BX Preamp module from Feedback Circuits!
sounds grrrr8
Are you familiar with Tony the Tiger?
heiliger strohsack was ein sound 😎🤘

Great, my dear Friend!👍🤍

Nice vid! I just wonder where this accent comes from ^^
Glasgow!
Nice! Nothing better that manipulating drum machines.
So long as you do it successfully haha. Took me a while. It sounds wild now though!
@@StephenMcLeod Jam at the end sounds great. I guess this is why they put all the effects on the DR-202.
