Thanks, man. I have an older Rinnai. I was just quoted 500$ to get that done by a plumbing company. This video is helping me get the confidence to maybe... maybe, tackle it myself.

Thanks for watching. This video was my first time doing it. As long as you take your time it’s easy to do. All you need is a pump and vinegar and you are good to go. $500 is outrageous for that job.

Rascoe, where did you get the part from and I know you said in the video it came with the wrench. I'm trying to order the part now and no one can answer if the wrench is included. Thanks for the informative video Bud

Are you referring to the replacement cartridge for the descaling unit? It came with the plastic wrench to get it off. The company is Southeastern Filtration and it’s part #210613 SS-EXT Cartridge. It’s the OEM filter cartridge replacement for Rinnai scale cutter SS-3. It’s $105 plus shipping.

Good video. Why didn’t you use a socket on the shut off? I prevent potential rounding of it with the lock wrench? Also do need to cycle the tankless once drained?

Thanks for watching! Once the flush procedure is done you just turn it back on. No need to cycle.

Thanks for watching! The tools you need to use are; transfer pump (the one I used was 115v pump off Amazon), a large and small wrench, two washer hoses, philips screwdriver, bucket, compressed air, garden hose and 4 gallons of food grade vinegar. I think that’s everything I used to get the job done.
