We got a terrible remake a few years ago and now we’ve got a terrible sequel. Such a shame to see such a legendary game get dragged through the mud like this.
The best of the cinematic 2D platformer was Out of this World, Flashback, then Prince of Persia, and Blackthorne- great stories, emotional depth, and immersive worlds. Lara Croft realized this in the 3D realm. It's sad that something like Flashback that grandfathered this beautiful and very expressive genre would get drug down the toilet. Even Fade to Black is better than these cheap knock offs and that one wasn't great. This is comparable to making Doom into trash or Myst. Although Cyan has trashed their Myst I'm afraid remaking it with all this cgi and fucking with what was already perfect
Why in the world do they still make games where you can't FREELY adjust the controls to your liking? I've never liked this Control Scheme A or B-only crap and it's even worse when on PC, where it should be mandatory to REMAP them freely on the keyboard & mouse. This seems to be a nasty trademark from Microids, which I've encountered on the latest TinTin adventure game, 2018 Flashback remaster, and this Flashback 2. Any game that doesn't give that freedom to adjust controls is an automatic pass and a ZERO/10. Even Emulators for old NES, SNES or Sega games give you freedom to adjust the controls in any way you want.
I was just thinking about that god awful remake of the first game that came out in like 2013 Now, there's a sequel to it.....and it looks just as bad. Y THO? The OG flashback was a thing of beauty, might not be everyones cup of tea with its slower gameplay though
When you have one of the best years in video game history with so many amazing games of course you are going to get a record level of terrible worst game of the year contenders. Remember when everyone thought Gollum was the absolute nadir of gaming in 2023? That shit looks like Tears of the Kingdom in comparison to some of the late comers this month! Lol
they released this with game breaking bugs I got half way through it to a bit where you need to collect bits to make a mech and find a battery, I did both, returned to complete the quest only to be told "I need to find a battery" I gave up and binned it at this point, how does Microids stay in business when they churn out such embarrassing shit like this? All they had to do was use the original games art style and mechanics to create some new levels and it would have sold and reviewed well, all they managed to do was piss off long term fans of the original while making new players avoid it like the crap it is.
This doesn’t look like a “worst of the year” contender. Maybe you expected too much from the smaller “indie” game? Flashback, Fade to Black, and Out of this World all played horribly, with bad controls and platforming. Why do we forget this?
Just because they’re old, doesn’t mean they’re bad. Also, I’m pretty sure none of those games had tons of game breaking bugs like this game does. Also, Also, this is not an indie game. This is from Microids; the same guys that made that god awful XIII remake.
@@kaikiske7436 This so called "indie developer" has been around for 35 years... Microids definitely should know way better than to release something like this, which is filled with bad design choices.
Flashback played horribly?!? I just replayed it on my megadrive and it was still great. Another world is a bit tedious and I've never played fade to black... But flashback was great.

This should've been like Shadow Complex in overall quality but alas what a shame.
Remake is not that bad
That's such a bummer. The OG was the best!
Was a cool game. This sucks. I was pretty excited.
Same for Blackthorne, another legendary game with a unique cover mechanic (for a side scroller) that hasn't been duplicated since.
@@mr.sinjin-smyth most definitely
When I saw the game had released and no reviews I knew it was a bad sign
This is sad for me, FlashBack and Fade to Black were legendary
Same. I grew up with Another World, which I still play, then Flashback and Fade to black.

What a shame. I was hoping this would be at least like Shadow Complex in overall quality.
I suspected when I saw the artstyle change from the original game that it wouldn't be good. Shame. Still lots of other good games out.
We are entering an ear of gollum like games
Gollum feels like Zelda compared to stuff like Kong and Walking Dead Destinies! Lol
Golllum got them ears
As someone mentioned on twitter, at least we have Lunark instead.
that was johan. and he actually made lunark. lol

A lot of these devs think they decide what players want in a game, but then they wonder why their games fail.

The first one is the granddaddy of indie development
That's sad, hopefully next year we get a few less broken/bad games.
Hopefully trump will be president

"Wait, slow down, I am an old man!"
For me this Flashback 2 dosen't looks WORST game of the year, this actually looks surprisilly NICE. Is this on Nintendo Switch or Playstation 5? 😮😊
Yep.
Missed opportunity for “there’s no way I can COME through this DNA door!”
I haven’t heard of this series before. Despite the title, I actually want to play this.
So, will we have Shadow Complex 2 in the future?
#1 as of right now. I would not buy that if there was NOTHING to play.
Paul Cuisset could have been one of the greatest video game designers in history but the man fumbled after Flashback and Fade To Black.
Loved the OG on the Atari Jaguar which I still have.
Just wish we had got a better sequel for the Ps5
Just finished it...yep, the game is a broken mess. but i liked the art and the simple story.
Oh no 😮 I'm too early 😢
😢
I am so glad i waited it out and didn't pre-order. so disappointed about this. My teen self weeps.
And the price of the game hasn't dropped at all yet, remains at $50 on all retailers, what a joke.
Yet, 5 months later, the game remains at $50. Are they serious?

I think the voice acting is also ai.

Ugh at the state of gaming lately. So many bad games. I enjoyed the first game forever ago. Ugh...guess I'll be buying BG3.
such a let down im so sad about this as i was really looking forward to it what a shame
Has this not been patched yet?
Damn glad I watched this, because I was just about to buy it.
Not now. 🙆🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
This bums me out. I wanted this to go a good game.
What happened with this game?!!! Why did it turn out so bad??? The original Creator was even behind this
hopefully they make some patches to fix some of the issues. i coukd work through some of the issues but all together this looks unbearable.

theres another new flashback also. this is the 2nd new one. the original was amazing the first newer one was pretty good. this one sucks.
yeah this game sounded bad
