  • Spiral rope is endlessly customizable, and has a wonderful easy rhythm to it. With this tutorial, you can start playing with different bead combinations and see what magic comes from it!
The necklace I'm wearing is Sparkle Rope. The pearl bracelet shown is the Sassy Simple Spiral. Both have kits and patterns available at:shop.jillwisema...

Jill, I LOVE your videos. I really like and appreciate the step by step that you go through and I like the fact that I can actually see what you are doing because your hands aren't in the way. I am trying my very first EVER spiral rope today using red 6's and 3 mm pearls. See if I am liking it when I am done, but your video helped IMMENSELY. Thank you

Jill, I have figured out why in a sea of beading tutorials you are one of my 3 faves. It is because of the "tips" that you share along the way. I now switch my needle out from #10 to #12 when ever I need to weave thru to end/start the thread or when it is time to do the toggles. It truly saves a lot of frustration.

I have done the spiral rope before but had no idea the different techniques that could be used. I always used a 4 bead spine and only used seed beads. Thanks to you, I am now going to experiment with different kinds of beads and size spines! I loved the small one you did at the end. Going to give it a try! Thanks so much!

Jill, I joined your site maybe a little over a year ago when you had maybe 7 videos. And I wanted to let you know how much I enjoy the way you teach. I have learned so much from you, and have subsequently order both your Designer of the Year Vids from Interweave. I have your book on beaded ropes, and have also listened to your Beaducation vids too. So as you can see I am a fan. I would like to see a video on flat herringbone with peyote in the fill in areas as I would very much like to make the flat diamonds to stitch together and use a flat pad to make stud earrings. Thanks for listening JoAnn

    Hi Jill,
I'm a beginning beader and thought I was just about done with it since I have big clumsy sausage fingers and could not manhandle the beads. I persevered however and picked up your Parisian Lights pattern, staring at it every day until I was ready (Geez what am I Karate Kid breaking a brick;)) In any case one day I was ready and blasted through the entire bracelet NON-Stop. It looks great and I tell everyone that you are the BEST TEACHER. Thank you much for your great teaching videos - I'm going to now try the spiral-rope. I really love your designs and you are cute as a button! :-)

Jill: As usual, I have totally enjoyed your video! You are my favorite artist and have inspired me to begin making jewelry on my own. My first project? Why Kumihimo of course! It turned out absolutely gorgeous! But for some reason I've been resisting any type of beading such as you were doing in this particular video.... errrr! I just do not know why! I watch Beads, Baubles, and Jewels and see all of the beautiful jewelry that you can make with the peyote stitch and so on... but something just turns me off... That is until I watched this video!!! You're my hero! I'm going to give it a shot and will let you know how it turns out.... maybe :0) lol

One question I do have is..do you ALWAYS have to start with 4 or 5 beads? I really love the necklace you’re wearing in this tutorial but it looks much smaller than the one you’re working on..I have looked through a lot of your videos and can’t find it…also can you give me an idea of how many crystals are in the necklace. In trying this spiral rope, you suggest laying the seed beads & crystal always to the same side. When I slide my next set of 2 seed beads, one crystal, 2 seed beads, I lose the slant of the crystal because I cannot hold onto the few I've already beaded. I've never gotten past the third row. I bought your "Beautiful Beaded Ropes", but your tutorials seem so easy to follow. I've tried so many times, but I always end up without the spiral. Any suggestions?

I love the basic spiral, but would like to know more about the beads and sizes that you used to create the beautiful designs that you show at the beginning of the video. I looked for kits in your store, but didn't see any for those you displayed. Do you have a digital version of your book, "Beautiful Beaded Ropes"? Thanks for all of your wonderful videos!

    • @JillWisemanDesigns

I don't have any kits for a spiral rope right now, but I should! I'll work on creating a few designs for it! Sadly, my publisher never created a digital version of my book and the hard copy is now out of print. I'm hoping to get the rights back within the next few years (it takes about 2 years after it goes out of print) and then I'll make a digital copy available.

Thanks Jill. I have your wonderful book but nothing addresses my problem. I am making a quite heavy, long spiral. It broke in 2! Do you suggest beginning the broken piece again or is there some way I can join the two parts???

You can link the two broken parts together the way I show you can join the two ends of spiral rope together towards the end of the video. If you're able, you might want to do some extra passes of thread through the spine to reinforce it.
