I hate in romances where they spend the first 80% making excuses to not be together, only for them for finally get together and date for a week, then they have the miscommunication and one character runs off and breaks it off. Like if they just acted like grownups and had a discussion it would have been resolved. Then the last two chapters they get back together and it’s true love and then the epilogue they have three kids
Me too especially because I'd much rather read a romance book about adults that doesn't feel like they're created with common teenage thought processes. I'm not gonna say they're bad and I've enjoyed some of them I just wish more romance others didn't follow that formula 😭
Loved the video. I do agree with the book to screen adaptation the only thing that came to mind tho is Shadow and Bone. They made Mal SO much better, just subtle things (tbf I don’t remember much from the books anymore) that made him likeable (I really disliked him in the books but loved him in the show (and RIP to the show I’m still not over that).
That’s the reason why I love out on a limb by Hannah young cuz there is no third act conflict, no breakup, no miscommunication, a loving healthy relationship. And not to mention they took a trope I hate the most and I didn’t even mind it. I didn’t even think about it cuz Everything about that book is perfect cuz I’m gonna be honest, I fucking hate the third act conflict. I’m so fucking sick of it. Like why can’t we have a romance where there isn’t a stupid ass problem?
I feel like the love triangle thing between brothers is only true when it’s not done right, which is most of them unfortunately. But you guys need to read The Infernal Devices if you haven’t bc that series should be the blueprint for all love triangles between brothers. Bc the two “brothers” actually love & care for each other & aren’t just fighting over a girl bc of their unresolved jealousy issues w each other like in TSIP or that Walter Boys one.
As an upper elementary Reading/ELA teacher, the plot diagram/third act conflict take cracked me up 🤣 But now I wonder if the plot diagram is outdated LOL
I feel like "enemies to lovers“ in romance books is usually more "hate to love" or "rivals to lovers" cause you really can’t have an enemy in your normal life..
Romance is a valid book genre and people who read romance are absolutely 100% a reader! I don't like when people invalidate romance because romance is absolutely everywhere. Trillers often have mention of love and romance, classics are mostly romance, poetry can be about love. Everywhere you look, there is love and there is nothing wrong with it !
My annotated books almost turns into a personal journal. Containing my thoughts, vulnerabilities, fears, hopes, relatable experiences, what I find to be humorous, etc. 📖💕
DESTINY!! please please PLEASE do a video on your closet- your bookish/swifite/spiderman/etc tshirts and sweatshirts, or where they are from! i always love them and wonder where theyre from
about the third-act break-up, that was my biggest fear when I read Icebreaker. They became a happy couple with like 150 pages left and i genuinely feared, there would be a third-act breakup. but the conflict was between stassie and her skating partner and nate was a super supportive and encouraging boyfriend. you can say what you want about icebreaker, i get it´s not for everyone, but i will take no criticism on its third-act conflict!
That's what I absolutely loved about Hannah Grace's writing and I can't wait to read her other books. I was WAITING for the miscommunication but I was so happy it didn't happen.
yeah i don’t think there was enough room in the book for a third-act breakup since every 10 pages was filled to the brim with god-awful, horrendous, way too descriptive smut 😭 fr one of the most traumatizing books i’ve ever read
There are actually a bunch of different story structures, but in the west we only ever learn about the one type with rising action to the climax. Other cultures tend to favour other structures. It’s really cool
I feel like it's so common to hate on things that mainly women love and I think that's why the romance genre gets so much flack. There areso many people that only confine themselves to one genre, doing it doesn't make them "not a real reader" so the same thing should apply to people that solely want to read romance.
I like romance books I just like to mix it up and read other books. If someone just reads romance books they are still reading. I have nothing against people who read just read romance.
Not me buying beach read in both uk and us version without reading any because i saw the ending is different 😂 also i have people we meet on vacation and you and me on vacation (the same book) because I didn’t like the way the latter book looked 😂
Might be an unpopular opinion but acotar may be a bit overhyped and it’s probably why I haven’t really picked up the second one😅 I’m also trying not to get disappointed since it’s apparently the best one and I’m afraid I’ll get disappointed continuing (it’s how I feel with fourth wing being hyped up and iron claw sucking like what’s the point of even starting it if the sequel doesn’t even live up)
I do not mind the love triangle in books but I think it is because I literally grew up on the vampire diaries and my mum actually dated two brothers (my dad and my uncle). 😄
Love triangles actually don't make sense especially if it is with 2 brothers. Everyone has a type right? So why all of a sudden in love triangles you end up having 2 types and they end up being total opposites. 🤦🏼♀️
i loved this so much! i was dying at some of your comments, especially about being awkward when complimented because that is me 100%. i'd love to see more videos like this 🩷
Your laundry was literally me last night after watching my niece for 10 hours, then working for 6 hour lol. My clothes are just gonna stay on my floor.😅
I agree with so many of these. I'd say my biggest hot take is that I absolutely hate hardcovers. I will get the kindle of a new release just so I don't have to collect any more hardcover books 😂
11:10 My grandmother dated my grandfather’s brother first 😂 If I’m not mistaken, the brother proposed and she said no. I never met my grandfather or his brother so I don’t know anything beyond that, but it’s a crazy story to hear. As far as I know, they were civil about it. Also, my aunt (Mom’s sister) dated my uncle (Dad’s brother) before my other grandmother disapproved of her and they broke up.
6:11 Hot take, I prefer 3rd person over 1st. I got into the Shadowhunter books as my first real reading for fun experience, and all are told in 3rd, and then Harry Potter, so when I got to 1st it was a bit jarring. Now I don’t differentiate in my mind either, but as a young teen, I did lol. As a writer now (for fun, unfortunately nothing published yet), I primarily write in 3rd person.
I can‘t read romance books that are written in third person because I don‘t feel the love at all. But in fantasy I don‘t care if it‘s written in third oder first person. 😅🙈
Personally, I don't purposefully crack the spine of paperbacks bc then the glue would tare and the page would fall out, and hey I don't have all the money in the world to just buy a whole nother copy when my worn one is still technically readable. I do write in it for the same reason of 'living' in it, though. I don't mind the cracked edges, but I prefer not to crack the spine just so it will stay together longer, and I will be able reread it more without it falling apart
For me, i really don’t like romance as in full romance story, unless they’re fantasy. Romance in romance is good and not so heavy for me. I have so many peeves in romance especially that i have different preference to the main character in the romance book. I don’t know how to explain but maybe you get the gist. I got cringe when reading romance book.
What the heck does being a 'real reader' mean???. Why are ppl so obsessed with making reading into a competition or something. Ppl need to actually log off and touch grass.
I wanna write and annotate my books and it's FINE ur not damaging the book, it's not like you're walking into a bookshops and writing in a book , no it's urs and you can do whatever you want with it but don't over -exaggerate like sure say you don't wanna "ruin" your books but don't go hate on the people who do.
I hate love triangles too! Also, who was being mean to you in the comments????? You mentioned that the comments should be respectful, so I'm guessing someone said something mean.
I also disagree with the take on epilogues. While I myself don't need every single thing answered or explained a epilogue works just fine especially if it's a story you liked
12:19 i felt that. Another reason i hate romance book. Also i hate love triangle and brothers being rival iwww. Just girl hey get out of their lives already ur destroying their family
I have never related to anymore more than the awkwardness when ppl are nice and like romantic I am sooooo awkward it’s actually so bad I can’t take anything seriously
At 10:10 I kind of agree. I've only read two Christina Lauren books but one of those was the famous Love and Other Words. I felt like the book was a little physical between the characters and it surprised me when I heard people say it was the deepest relationship they've read in a romance book. (Not hating on the book! I actually enjoyed it a lot while reading and would recommend!)
the funniest thing w/ love triangles with brothers is that it HAPPENED to a girl that i studied with on high school 😭😭 and the biology teacher would say that she destroyed the family 😭😭 ( and she DATED both of them)
The accidental pregnancy trope is so hard to read because of infertility and calling it quits after 3 rounds of ivf. I wish I could love it but infertility ruined any book with pregnancy. I just get too emotional reading it.
Someone from my high school dated a boy then broke up with him and started dating his brother freshman year….they’ve been together ever since and now married! Irl 2 brother love triangle with family functions included 😂
The most cringe I ever read in enemies to lovers is ( guess ) "Who or what I have to kill tell me" she's likes it's lake I'm having problem with and he's like I can EMPTY EVERY LAKE OCEAN IN THIS WORLD- like what uhmmmmm YOU GONNA DRINK IT ALL?
My go-to Dunkin order.. Medium Butter Pecan Iced Coffee with an extra cream. So it will say 4 creams on the screen. No sugar. I don’t like the grainy taste of the sugar. Plus, there is sugar already in the creamer. Maybe try it sometime. 😀
I definitely live your hot takes and unpopular opinion videos! This is actually how i dicovered your channel and became obsessed. I started binging your vids lol
“touch her and i’ll kill you” - a golfer
LMAOOOOO im cracking up at this

Loved the video. I do agree with the book to screen adaptation the only thing that came to mind tho is Shadow and Bone. NO ONE FEAR DES IS HERE 🎉❤
where is your tote bag from? it’s so cute!

You are so real for this video
I feel like the love triangle thing between brothers is only true when it’s not done right, which is most of them unfortunately. Yes I love the chit chat videos!!! Maybe a chit chat sit down video about book slumps (experience + books that helped you get out of them) 🤍
As an upper elementary Reading/ELA teacher, the plot diagram/third act conflict take cracked me up 🤣 But now I wonder if the plot diagram is outdated LOL
I dont hate a third act break up, unless its cheating or miscommunication. Then I want to chuck the book out a window
Im cackling over her talking about getting the ick of men in real life this is so funny
Girl I clicked your vid so fast lmao

“Third person isn’t that bad” wdym I always prefer third person over first person 😭
Same😭😭😭
SAME!!!! I dunno. First person seems to make the main character seem really moody and rude.
Same hereee!! I love soo much third person, I always struggle with first person.
Sara, haley AND NOW DES??? what have we done to be so blessed by the book girlies today
My annotated books almost turns into a personal journal. Containing my thoughts, vulnerabilities, fears, hopes, relatable experiences, what I find to be humorous, etc. 📖💕
Highly recommend reading a Bible. It would be such a good thing for you! It’s the truth, which is even better!

Bestie,we need a video where either Mila or Charlee choose your tbr or what books you buy💕
I feel like it's so common to hate on things that mainly women love and I think that's why the romance genre gets so much flack. Hayley and Sarah just posted, you too! This is the best day ever!!!
My hot take is pregnancy in a book at all, is a turn off. I don’t like it and I find it annoying. Not everyone wants kids 🤷🏻♀️
Can someone pleaseeeee tell me where Destiny’s sweatshirt is from?? I’ve looked everywhere and can’t find it
I like romance books I just like to mix it up and read other books. If someone just reads romance books they are still reading. I have nothing against people who read just read romance.
GIRL, I have the B&N exclusive of A Court of Silver Flames. I want to send it to you so bad because I no longer want it.

YOU GONNA DRINK IT ALL?
There is a special edition of all of Sarah J Maas’s books being published February 27 and there are 30 copies thought of des
It is by juniper books
Another thing about people saying romance is not a respectable genre - it’s a genre whose audience it predominantly women or teenage girls
