    Nice trip in Mexico the toll roads are recommended. Safer and not controled by the cartels. When we come up into Texas we cross at the Columbia International bridge. Adds an hour to the trip but we don't have to wait in line long, and we avoid the city.

    OK Kurt you got our attention by taking Iowa Pork blood to Mexico ..... as a former journalist I love your title teasers! Maybe you hit a few porkers, threw them in the truck and off to Mexico you go! Have a fun trip .. .. ..vaya con dios.

    Thanks. I am from Topeka. I am also a subscriber. I appreciate your videos because my husband is a local trucker. He can’t have anyone else in the truck. So this give me an idea what he goes through. Again thanks. And wish you and your family well this holiday.

    I delivered and picked up in Laredo many times. The first or second time, can't remember exactly, was just about time to get home for Thanksgiving. The company I drove for was supposed to have me a load home in time. For some reason there was no load and no empty trailers. What they told me while I was in Laredo would have put me home 2 days after Thanksgiving. I kindly told my dispatcher that he was going to get me home or I was bobtailing to the yard, greasing my truck down with Vaseline, and then driving it straight up his hind parts. Only not censored LOL. Had me a load within an hour. The good old times.

    Great idea taking the toll road, and avoiding the DOT cops in a bad mood. There are LOTS of them around. I knew a driver that was issued a violation when they asked her how many log books she had. She replied, "Just one, of course". Wrong answer! Any truck running e-logs must also have a paper log as a backup, when the e-log is down. She had the paper log as a backup, but because she answered the way she did, they nailed her.

    The sound of that turbo never gets old. I had mine blow up once. The dash jumped up like a grenade went off. Fully loaded could hardly even get going without it.

    The shot of latching on to the kingpin was pretty creative. If you run the Kansas Turnpike on the way home hopefully it will be in the daylight . The drive through the Flint Hills is one of my favorites. You feel like you’re sailing across a sea of grass. Also stop at the Matfield Green Stop and check out the Knute Rockne display.

    I get pulled over so much with the little company I drive for. Adds a hour and a half easy every time. But they won’t pull over the Honda Civic with no brake lights.

    • @DieselDoc78
      @DieselDoc78 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Or the moron pulling a pre-Christ era horse trailer with no lights. That pisses me right off. That’s the one thing here in Montana, not many people seem to care about trailer lights. Ugh.

    • @rootcanal7188
      @rootcanal7188 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Big Holli, that's because they know that a truck driver 1000 miles away from home isn't going to go to court to fight the ticket, but the Honda Civic will.

    I love how your videos show the peacefulness in driving.Unfortunately people dont know all the pressures a driver has.Such as all the responsibilities us drivers have since the minute you get on that truck.From checking the equiptment to logs,paper work,layovers,getting the load on time regardless the break downs,traffic,hardly any sleep,poor eating habits and the weather getting in the way ect...Not to mention trying to keep the equiptment up to par for D.O.T.Gosh i miss those days.lol.Stay healthy Mr Schmidt.

    It can be very frustrating dealing with all the variables in the meat packing industry, or refer freight in general. I couldn't handle it anymore, you're a better man than I am.
    When you talked about the 4 hour traffic jam in Austin....that's another reason I'm not out there....no thank you! ;-)
    You're still a relatively young guy Kurt.....if you can handle the adversity in the business and roll with the punches....you'll do well.... it can be a very rewarding business as you already know.
    Hang in there.....you've got a lot of people pullin' for ya !

    • @a1driver982

      Trailers are only 53', not 54'. I know its not a big difference but its big enough. Although I'm not from the US I have run it many, many times. I have seen 2 53' trailers, like we have here, but I'm yet to see 3 X 53' trailers being pulled by 1 truck in the USA. I know they run 3 X 53' trailers in Canada in certain Provinces (mostly Manitoba and Saskatchewan) but again, I've never seen it in the States.
