- Welcome to the Yu-Gi-Oh Character Roulette! Each week @MBTYuGiOh and I will spin a wheel to build a deck from packs featuring cards used by anime characters throughout Yu-Gi-Oh's history, and then we’ll craft 1 card of each rarity from our pack to round out our decks. After a character’s pack wins the match it’s removed from the wheel, while the losing pack is given a second chance at victory! Tune in every weekend for new episodes of Character Roulette!

The fact that fortune lady wind is non targeting backrow removal is surprising given how old the card is.

Doug didn’t want to get 3-0d again, and he knew MBT would be too powerful with access to the specially smooth aged rice, classy atmosphere, and perfect balance between vinegar, nigiri, shine, and shape, so he had to stop him.
This wouldn't have been fun for me.

Forgot to say this last week but I love the UR/SR/R/NR craft it stops the lowest of low rolls so the decks are likely to end up at least functional so low rolls don't automatically kill a deck
true but then when you open a pack like dinos and automatically guarantee a UCT you also just automatically win the game

While 3 of Blue-Eyes, Dark Magician, and Red-Eyes was definitely the correct option, the much funnier option would've been getting 3 Blue-Eyes, 1 Dark Magician, or 1 Red-Eyes because it's accurate to the ratios played by the characters in the anime.
MBT was afraid of Chaos MAX, but he did not expect the real deal, the best BE card, the cream of the crop: Fortune Lady Wind with Eyes of Blue

Unironically BEWD has so much support that you can low roll the deck as long as you get the cards that synergies each other

Lol, Rex Raptor playing Ultimate Conductor. Considering that UCT is a composite of several monsters that "Dino DNA" played in GX, I'd say you got Hassleberry'd instead.
I’d love to see a series where they are only allowed to choose 10 packs from any of the selection packs they opened in their 10 master packs at the start of the series. And just slowly progress their lists through bans and limits etc.
Think it would allow for some really dumb but very entertaining buildcrafting and copium!!!

This is not the first time MBT plays Dark Magicians in sealed and I am convinced he doesn't know how to play this deck. Crafted Dark Magician Girl (a brick) as Super rare when he could craft Dark Magician the Dragon Knight, The Dark Magicians as Ultra rare when he could craft Magicians' SouIs.
He choosed to run:
1. Dark Magician Girl - a brick that serves only as special summon target for Salvation, additional draw or ONE SouI Servant and a target for The Dark Magicians.
2. Magician's Salvation - a card that sets Eternal Soul (or you can just play 3x Eternal Soul and that's definately enough) and potential Special Summon of Dark Magician Girl. But without any reliable Link Dragon monsters that can be used as fusion material (Armityle, Imduk), additional monsters on the field doesn't matter to this deck that much.
3. The Dark Magicians - the card that lets you draw cards, but cannot stop the opponent. And considering MBT played against Blue-Eyes where regular monsters have 3000 ATK, this fusion monster is not even a beater.
4. Bond between Teacher and Student, Dark Magic Expanded, Dark Magic Twin Burst and Thousand Knives (the latter is not bad in sealed, but terrible at this matchup). These cards are situational and doesn't do much in reality. To play them is such a tunnel bait.
Instead he could run:
1. 2nd copy of Magicians' SouIs - this would boost consistency and let you draw cards by discarding useless spells MBT filled his deck with.
2. Dark Magician the Dragon Knight - a Fusion that literally has lock on your opponent that outs pretty much anything Blue-Eyes deck has.
3. Dark Paladin - that is insanely good against Blue-Eyes. Dark Paladin is literally out to Vision of Blue-Eyes, Ultimate Fusion and other Spells Blue-Eyes deck depend on. On top of that Dark Paladin's ATK would be ~over 9000!!!~
4. The Eye of Timaeus - MBT as many other "pros" is iconic critic on this card since it is not searchable, but in sealed enviroment such this this card has much more use than bunch of very situational Spells he never had a chance to activate.
Dark Magician pack in MD without Dark Dragoon is much worse than Blue-Eyes, but this deck could've been much better.
Even Yugi knows the Pharaoh literally cheats, that's why he had to plan ahead to beat him, sealing Monster Reborn right at the beginning to cut off the last minute BS he was guaranteed to pull once backed into a corner. People really underestimate the little dude because of how little time he actually gets to even duel people, but there's a reason he's the actual King of Games who solved the Millenium Puzzle in the first place.
I don’t know about anyone else, but I interpreted the rules as meaning “if a deck loses, the player plays it again but with more packs opened”. Just a little shocked that Doug got to spin too!

Really enjoying the series as always! If some of the other decks are as filled with bricks as these two, it might help the series out if you went up to 30 packs? It still doesn't ensure that you're going to see everything, but can at least help you see more of what a deck is capable of. Thanks for the video as always!

I think you should add a rule to craft 3 of a signature card for the character you roll. If the character's signature card is unplayable or not clearly defined, you can craft one applicable extra UR from the pack you pull from. Deck's like Blue-Eyes or Dark Magician can hardly run without the singular focus of their deck and makes for a rather one-sided match, plus I think it would be interesting to see the character's signature card (or the retains of them) included because it's their namesake. (EDIT: I saw you added the signature normal monster trinity to 3, i feel like every character should get the same level of love for thier flagship monster.)

I feel as 'though the loser should have to keep their pack, but also get to keep all the cards they opened from that pack so they just build their collection until they can finally win
That might have been a problem with Master Roulette, where there were some actually terribly unplayable packs, but in terms of anime packs, everything just kinda ranges from pretty good to mid
I think a cool idea that could be done instead of just having it be a mirror once there's one left on the wheel would to be that once there is one left on the wheel, that pack is put aside for later as you move on to the next series, then you do that for all 6 series to find the worse for each of them, then end off with a final loser wheel with all the remaining packs to see which is the worse overall
This was another example where some of dark magicians best support is tied into a structure deck, so will be at a disadvantage.

I like the can’t craft outside of archetype rule because otherwise it feels like a way to get sacky one ofs that circumnavigate the pack of drew and that’s no fun

Kaiba in the sub said he'd jump in the English dub he said the shockwave of Ultimate dragon being destroyed might cause him to lose balance. Thats how thdy got around that

As a suship main, I was so sad Doug said no.
Id say a rule where if you have previously spun the pack (and lost with it) you get to keep the previous pulls, since usually when they lose its due to bad pulls.

you should take the names off the wheel once you have spun them, then go through all the series. i would love to see each character played from each series! i loved 5ds as a kid, so would love to see some of those played! and i know people would get a kick out of seeing GX too

To be honest, to make it more diferent from Master Roullete, a character should make you open 2 diferent kind of master pack
I love Roulette showing that Masochist quality cards/decks are superior to anime cards.
Will this go series by series to keep the decks sorta balanced? At least that would make sense, but many themes since the last ten years have gotten around to adding legacy support.

Also, maybe toons should get three of the og toon world? Like, it's not nearly as good as kingdom, but without either, 90% of the other cards don't function.
fun story MBT could have played Eye of Timeus and Dark Paladin and could have had an out to Chaos Max!

Dark Magican isn't without it's core engine of monsters. The spell bloat didn't help them.

Dark Paladin is one of my fave childhood cards and still a really strong card if you can get it on field. Especially against dragon decks.

I reaallllly hope that this continues through all the yugioh seasons, so after they finish this wheel they move onto yugioh gx and do some of those characters, and then 5ds ect ect. Doug’s series are so good

Rule revision is good. I think this series is harder to balance in general since it isnt 'traditional' sealed.
Also, Im glad youre doing game 3 every time. I wasnt expecting to enjoy these duels as much as I do.

So what if you take cardlist from games or the show to play with so it feels more like the actual characters decks. These two have semi been fun but some decks seem to strong with the new cards. Like the rex deck shouldnt of had uct. Or cards from outside the archetype.
