That space suit Charles is wearing is from the comics, it’s the suit Llilandra was wearing when she came to earth. This is the first time I think we’ve ever seen what happens for anyone traveling inside Kurt’s bamph on screen. He travels through another dimension called brimstone for a split second but for anyone he takes with him, it’s like time dilation and they feel the pull from one place to the next. Bastion is there to change the future to the Utopia, his purpose is to enslave and wipe out mutants. He carries all of the knowledge of the future sentinel Nimrod, he knows everything that happens, that’s why he’s ahead of the game all the time. I think Bishop will be back and that could throw a monkey wrench into Bastion’s plans because Bishop and Cable know what happens. Everything we are seeing leads into so many other things. We could get Ahab, Rachel Summers, they changed how Bastion got here so we may not get Xcalibur but I’m hoping we do. I think Onslaught is definitely coming when Charles and Magneto go toe to toe. I hope they bring Bobby and Warren home, we need the original X-men so we get Xfactor, some really good plot lines coming down the pipe from this first season.

So, the other two were Silver Samurai and Omega Red. As far as Magento and the North Pole, he did. In the comics, on top making Planet M, he created a base at the North Pole because he was stronger there. He could protect mutants better there. He stopped being a villain, and because a protector of the mutant race, by creating a home to hide in.

Also, remember MasterMold concluded that humans and mutants are the same. By an AI's reckoning, there is no difference between humans and mutants. Just like scientists view race.
The bug helmet is the design of the Shi'ar spacesuit. Lilandra used one when she met him in the original series.

They have changed just enough up in their approach to it that I'm not entirely sure how Operation: Zero Tolerance is going to play out over the course of the next two episodes. I have some theories, but I'm happy to be surprised as it keeps going! This episode was absolutely insane and explained a lot of things while also raising up a billion more questions. Some fun notes for you:
    I. In case you missed it, Bastion is being voiced brilliantly by Theo James of "Divergent" and "White Lotus" fame. I thought his voice sounded familiar, I'm just not used to hearing James speak in an American accent these days so it threw me off lol
    2. When Cable and Beast are talking about the Genoshan Genocide being a 'fixed point' in time, Beast says that it's "strange" that the 'mystics of Kamar-Taj' talk about such things. Kamar-Taj is the school of sorcery Dr. Strange studies at and that Scarlet Witch destroyed in the Dr. Strange movies.
    3. Scott driving a blue sportscar out of the Blackbird was a little poke at how many people are excited that Cyclops is finally getting his time to shine in this show after the movies destroyed his character (I like the movies overall but that was always a sore spot with me). In "X2" Wolverine steals Cyclops's shiny blue car with a middle finger claw.
    4. Jean sharing Madelyne's memories is actually a thing in the comics, though for darker reasons. In the comics, Jean and Scott actually did go into the future together to raise Nathan for a portion of his childhood in "The Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix". Its sequel when they are lost in the timestream and witness the origin story of Dr. Nathaniel Essex/Mister Sinister is chronicled in "The Further Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix".
    5. More cameos! The green-haired mutant seen in Bastion's dystopian future using magnetic powers is an older version of Polaris, the other daughter of Magneto, and the telekinetic mutant with weird face markings who looked kind of Phoenix-y while building the bridge is Rachel Summers/Phoenix, the daughter of Scott and Jean from an alternate timeline. She has a very, very interesting story and was instrumental in the comic version of "Days of Future Past". She inherits the Phoenix Force and becomes Phoenix herself, leads the British team Excalibur for a time, fights Galactus at a point, and then ends up a mystic Bene Gesserit-style goddess figure called Mother Askani in Apocalypse's future who also helps to raise her half-brother Nathan, who was called the Askani Child of prophecy.
    6. The Silver Samurai who you mentioned from "The Wolverine" movie is a very different character in the comics but that is who you see in Japan. The red dude being kept prisoner in the nuclear power plant in Russia is called Omega Red, funnily enough also primarily a Wolverine villain.
    7. Finally, if you look hard enough at kid-Bastion's little box of toys, he was playing with things from the Stark Expo, so they're really going all-in on incorporating the larger Marvel universe in this show and I am living for it.

As the grandchild of a Survivor it makes me really glad to see that they kept his tattoo. It is an important part of our history. It is also reminds me of the poem first they came for the Jews.

Same, and it’s the same tattoo he’s had since the early ‘80s. I’m Jewish as well and seeing all the Magneto love recently has meant a lot to me

Or did humanity declare war, and Magneto made the next move?

  • @ElMagico2006

Magneto was based in the Savage Land, which is at the South Pole, for that very reason.

The Shi’ar space gear has always looked bug like in both the comics and the show. When Lilandra first showed up in S3 of TAS that’s the same suit and ship she had

I also love getting the momentary “Wait what!?” confusion when Morph transforms off camera and suddenly there’s a new person in the scene and I wonder where they came from before realising lol
Also if normal humans don’t lose their minds about a complete conspiracy to alter them into mind-controlled killer robots I’ll be very annoyed.
Marvel already has the issue of “Why are they afraid of mutants but love superheroes?” That if humans aren’t mental over this next week I won’t understand.
That’s not even getting into disagreeing with the premise that humans and mutants are separate. It’s kinda bugged me all season with the good guys seeing non-X-gene ppl as a separate species like the racists do with them.
Particularly when I strongly remember a moment in the original show when the sentinels turned on their creators cos their “protect humanity from mutants” protocol was understood by Mastermold as “mutants are humans, so we need to protect humans from themselves!”. When even evil killer robots get it better than the main cast!! lol

Racism and bigotry are inherently nonsensical. You can't make sense out of nonsense. You see it in the real world all the time where certain minority groups are tolerated and even praised more than others, and sometimes they're even pitted against each other by their oppressors.

If it goes like the comics, the government cuts Bastion off but I don’t think it will go like that. I think he’s infected the president.

The “Why Do They Hate Mutants But Not Superheroes” thing is not a flaw. It’s a feature. It highlights how bigotry works in the real world and how it doesn’t make sense. It’s not unusual for a racist person to be a fan of a Black celebrity, sports star, or musician but not want a Black family to move into their neighborhood or their daughter to date a Black man. Same goes for homophobia. They could be a fan of Elton John but not want their son to be gay. Bigotry doesn’t follow the rules of logic because it inherently makes no sense.
