My dad had one, red, for along time. He had to get rid of it as he had kids with my stepmom and got a van and a jeep. His car was nice. One of the cleanest sounding stereo's I ever heard (Polk Audio component speakers, Some small and big custom amps (about 700 or 800 watts total) and a 12" Kicker, Pioneer then Sony CD Player). Also remember him always running a Cobra radar detector. And the car phone. Car was pimped out. Completely 80's Spent allot of time in a car just like this one.
I know this post is old, but I have one in Black all original & I bought it in 91. This car is my Dream car & has been garaged the majority of its life. I Love This Car!! I still drive it today & it does get attention & THUMBS UP

Dave Dalke at Supercoupesunlimited is the God of SC stuff. He did the tunes for me. All I did was make data logs of passes or me driving and send them via email and he would send me the tunes which I would load into the QuarterHorse. Let me know if you would like to know more. I have 2 supercharged one 5 speed the other auto. Currently working on the 5 speed. Trying to decide if I’m going to just pay for all new interior. Unfortunately the leather is cracked so bad it’s non-restoreable

theres alot more than 15 of these left.. i have one myself...not saying theres a shit load of them left but def more than 15. mines a black 5 speed with 95,000 miles on it
Your numbers for the amounts produced are way off. Like way way way off. I personally know of 5 xr7s with the supercharged 3.8 and that's up here in a small town in Canada Claresholm. And all are white on white cars with 5speed transmissions. Hell even i owned a 1990 xr7 i also owned a 91 supercoupe and a 91 tbird sport with the 5.0 ho.
peter....your WAY off about the cougar..i have one with only 98568 miles original. no modifscationsno replacement parts even the elect/hydraulic brake systemis in new shape and original as well a moon roof that doesnt leak, original air that works, red leather interior,, ps, doors, mirrors, and seats...NOTHING has been done unlike yours....i too have extra parts, never been used ...new super charger, manfold, exhaust not after market like yours all mine all say genuie ford on them, and mine was made IN APRIL OOF 1989 IT WASMSA#EH,IN M BVER_WA

My dad and I test drove an 89 xr7 a few years ago from a dealership. Wasn't able to make a deal. Now I now it's a rare car
