I own a 1997 Cougar XR7 30th anniversary with a 5.4 Triton motor swap and Tuned. Heads are off a mustang, Trans was rebuilt by Art Carr Performance in Nevada theybdid a great job never had any issues with it, it has a custom built intake chopped and ported out. It’s not a 500 horse car but it goes pretty good. Timing chains squeaking now so I gotta pull the cover off and replace everything. Love my Cougar I need to get to work on it tho.
I enjoyed the vid. My grandfather gifted me his late wife's '95 XR7. It was garaged for 5 years :\ . After a few dozen hours of maintenance and parts installations, she's running great. I enjoy the sportiness that accompanies her rather grandma-esque, golden gray appearance.
@@cannenrockwell1893 I've always wanted to know what kind of coins could really be stored in there, they always rattle and fall! My parents preferred to use the ashtray instead.
That "backseat review" brought back some old memories for me! My parents had an 89 Thunderbird SC (so basically the same car) in the mid-90s. There was at least enough legroom in the back for two roughly 6-foot-tall teenagers on a road trip from metro Detroit to Myrtle Beach!
I just picked up a 1995 Cougar XR7 Bostonian Edition! V8. I am enjoying it so far! Going to put new struts, shocks and springs to give the handling a little boost!
My XR7 is a ‘95 and its white with a navy blue interior and it has the big ole 4.6 in it and I have gapped a v6 mustang and Camaro. These cars run hard and get you everywhere no matter what. My oil gage is broke in mine and I had no oil and ran it with no oil for a good bit it had a little knock so I put oil in it and now it runs better than ever. I love my ole boy it runs through everything I throw at it
One of the last personal luxury cars, a holdover from the Malaise Era, but I like it! Even better are two door V8 personal luxury cars with a bench seat and column shift automatic. But, the Cougar XR7 is the sporty version, so the comfortable bucket seats and floor shift automatic are appropriate. Yes, very 90s looking and still affordable. I wonder if/when they will become popular and expensive?
I use to have one it was my first car it was a fantastic car looks like a grandpa car drives like a mustang minus the curb killer and it is a touch of luxury for its time
My dad had one of these. Ripped headliner, didn’t run for like a month I think and when he finally got it running again I loved that car so much. Idk what it was about that car but it was amazing. I guess its because I grew up with it and knew it so well Edit: I was like 10 when he got rid of it(sadly, wish he still had it) so I don’t know much about the car. I do know that it had the v8 because I remember seeing a mustang logo somewhere on the engine when he was working on it
I own the exact same car , its my personal favorite to drive . Its a blast. I feel the same way , i paid 600 for mine and it puts a smile on my face evertime i drive it . And It's funny people either mad dog me for driving an old car or people absolutely love it. And I love the fact that the haters get put in the dust when I put my foot into it
Actual carbon copy of my 97 Tbird. The only interior difference was instead of the color scheme Gray leather+Beige plastic trim, my Thunderbird has Grey-Black respectively. Nice cars, very good bang for your buck if you take care of them.
I really want to get one hopefully in April 2023. My 2nd choice is a Tbird under 90k miles or a crown Victoria. My dream car is a 6th gen Celica but it’s becoming rare. Thanks for sharing.
I had a purple 94 cougar xr7 my first care ever, still love the thing ,i really thought it was fast back then lol ,i had some really good memories with that car, till one f150 rear ended the car while my baby momma driving with my 2 kids on the back ,long story short I drove the cougar home while the towing truck took the f150 ,i had transmission seal leaks ,because the rear end was pushed forward, got rid of the car for 700.
last year of aod was 93. This is a 4r70w. There's no sport mode or non sport mode to defeat., so I don't know what you're talking about. The Saturn that passed you was an S series, not an Ion. The headlight control's rightmost wheel is not a dimmer. The "top light" isn't dimmable. That wheel sets the time for the headlights to stay on after you leave the car. It's part of the autolamp system, controlled by the photocell on the dash. The grille is from a 91-93. The swoopy dash started for 94. ALL cougars from 93 onward are XR7. Premium sound got you a better tape deck and speakers, and an amp under the parcel shelf. An even higher option was the JBL system. You can see the voltmeter doesn't work. That's common. The slatted ovals by the ashtray are coin holders. The 97 got a different console top that has 2 cup holders, moving the coin holders to the forward section of it where it curves up to meet the center stack, moving the ashtray and lighter to the lowest DIN shaped cubby, and eliminating the message center. The radio heater and message center being black look stuck on as if unrelated, because the cougars have console and dash faces that match the interior colour, whereas the Thunderbirds all have those pars in black, against which the black components look more integrated.
My best friend's Dad (which my friend inherited at some point) had a 92 T-Bird. White with blue interior. I can second that the backseat wasn't bad, I took a couple trips in it and I fit fine.
Awesome! Got a awesome car there. My next car will be a 89-93 Cougar. Black with red or tan interior, limo tint, smoked tail lights, Green or red underglow (depends on interior) strobe lights, Glass pack Dual Exhaust, and 2 15's in the trunk, and 17" American Racing Wheels.
When you hit the brake and it pulls to the left like that that means your torsion bar is getting bad the bushing it's like a stabilizer but since it has independent suspension it has a torsion bar on each side
Universal Consciousness they don’t have a torsion bar, it’s an SLA coil over shock. If it pulls to the left it is either a sticking passenger front caliper or worn driver lower control arm bushing.
I'd like to see a comparison between the '90s Mercury Cougar/Ford Thunderbird and the Cadillac Eldorado. I really like this American concept of powerful, comfortable coupes you can drive fast through hundreds of miles.
I just got one 94 1 month ago for 1000 drove it home but so far I replaced water pump radiator coolant temp sensor thermostat and upper and lower radiator hose and I think it is still overheating
Drive in my first niece first car 2 months ago test drive it for her clean car just needed a few simple basics things a 92 Mercury Cougar blue paint with charcoal cloth seats paid around $1,500 from a old high school friend fun car tho
I own a 97, same everything. You can comfortably fit 4 adults, you’ll just need to move the front seats forward slightly to spare a little room for the rear
Thr xr7 is in no way a comparison to the mark viii. The xr7 was a 2 valve 4.6 the mark viii was a 4 valve 4.6 making more power. As well as the suspension and technology in the mark viii was far superior
But both cars are cheap for what they are. If money wasn't an issue ill take a chance on a HEMI car but I know an older 4.6 ford is the more affordable choice
@@TheBikemaster94 Nolan was probably posting this in response to the reviewer saying that this cougar was faster than the mark viii that he previously drove. The v8 Lincolns were faster from the factory than the v8 cougars but, who's to say how well the 2 cars that were tested by our host are running 20 years later. The "vents" in the console are for change, Toll's.
Thats weird, i have the same feature on my Thunderbird and the change doesnt fit in there, its too big of holes for quarters and they fall right out.

I think they work fine; it’s my favorite type of coin holder. But depending on the coin you only get two or three coins a slot.
