- Offered for sale is this immaculate and very well maintained example of the legendary Mercedes-Benz W126 Diesel S-Class, a 1982 300 SD sedan in gorgeous Manganese Metallic over rich Palomino MB-Tex interior. This remarkable Estate Car has been carefully owned and driven since new, and has only 52K miles. This car is powered by the legendary OM617 5-cylinder turbo diesel engine, which many consider to be the pinnacle of pre-electronic diesel engineering, with many examples achieving 1 million miles and beyond on the original build. The 4-speed automatic shifts perfectly, and the low mileage and careful maintenance is evident in every facet of this car, from the feel of the steering and suspension to the brakes and solidity over bumps and rough pavement - it is extremely close to how it would have felt driving a new one back in 1982. The chrome, glass, and brightwork are all original and in excellent condition, as are the factory "bundt cake" alloy rims - going down the road, this car looks like old money.

I have watched more than a few of the Autohaus videos, beginning with Jim demonstrating the Lincoln Town Car with the Kenne Bell supercharger on it! Mika did an excellent presentation aided by Peter's expertise. Mika's voice is an asset that certainly makes the presentation entertaining. She is good behind the wheel too! Peter showing video of the complete underside of this car and in a previous video with Mika, she pointed out a minor flaw on the front bumper of gorgeous Mercedes. I believe that this is an exceptionally honest dealership and living here in the northeast I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Autohaus to someone looking for a quality used car that hasn't been salted like an order of French fries by being driven in new England winters. I noted that Mika and Peter were not attacked by goats, birds or any other animals.

One of Paul's favorite noisy smoker cars in diesel, and a Mika non smoker. I'm surprised no push button start, my wife has bad arthritis. Probably less money than a 560. I didn't see a single imperfection and will check it out on your website. It looks like a real gem of a Mercedes!

Peter, the best w126 is 1991 350SDL.
1986 300SDL just as good.
The very very best one is 1995 S350 turbo diesel-w140 body, which is impossible to find, they worth fortune and nobody wants to sell them. Its not long or short- its has its own chassis.
Even in Germany they are HARD to find.
In general, 300SD is classic , no doubt- but W123 300D turbo diesel is better choice, its lighter and faster.
These "classics" are always in garage
126 body has never been collectible, the only w126 collectible is 1991 500SEL AMG "Hammer", which is close to 60000USD today, which has 6.0l v8 AMG built engine.
You want classic? its 600SEL w 140 body., 12 cylinder. Don't confuse with S600, its not the same car.
S600 is built for N. America.
600SEL was built for heads of states and dignitaries, like princess Diana.

Amazing example of that model & year! I can't believe how far you had to press the accelerator before the engine responded to rev? That would drive me nuts. So it's basically "to-the-floor" for accelerating off a light, out of a driveway or into traffic?
