  • This video is dedicated to the memory of Jerry Lee Lewis (1935-2022). It is impossible to overstate his importance in American music history. He was also one of my original inspirations for studying piano when I was 9 years old, and I have made this video to help spread knowledge of his piano style to those who are interested in learning. I hope you will learn it and help us keep his music alive 😎🤘
Sheet music is available for the full song demonstration at the end of the video: bit.ly/3U04A15

The form of the song is:

I’m 59yo. Never played piano, never took lessons. Have always wanted to be able to walk into a hotel lobby and sit down at their grand piano and bang out this song. In Feb I received my mother’s 58 yo piano and found this video tutorial. I try to learn/practice every day even if just for 10 minutes. I have all the bits and am now putting the left and rights together. Surprised at how quickly I am learning but also how difficult it is to play as well as you do in the vid. Thank you for posting!

This is amazing - great tutorial, I always wanted to learn this and I knew something strange was going on with that money chord - but I could never figure it out. Wonderful chord. Thanks - I have saved this in my 'watch later' playlist and I will learn it !!

Thank you! Yeah that chord tripped me up for a while too. I actually just had to watch videos of him playing live to check the hand shape and position.

But now after months of drilling boogie & blues I have to UN-unlearn playing straight eighths and accenting the 1! 😂

wow just realized that this has been published 9 days ago :D just at the moment when I wanted to learn this song. Perfect timing. I started to play the piano last month. I can play the parts on separate hands but playing both it is just impossible at the moment. Then, I will have to add the singing. Scary but fun :D

I know the man was getting old, but seeing this video has alerted me that Jerry has passed. I am sad he has died but happy to know he had a great life and gave us his passion for rock and roll. I believe he had more God given raw talent than Elvis ever did. Had he not married his first cousin his popularity would had shadowed Elvis. Thank you for keeping this man’s music alive. God Bless !
