Mr. J I just like to say thank you I wish guys like you were around 50 years ago. I just started playing piano again about 4 years ago and I fall in love with playing all over again and believe it or not I've learned more in the past 4 years then what I've learned in the past 30 years I just wish there were more teachers like you back when I first started. Thank you so very much again Teddy!

🎵 This is a very useful and informative video. There's lots of ideas here I've not seen anywhere else on TH-cam. Loads of tips, ideas and suggestions to get you "turned around" and back on that boogie! You could even combine a few left and right hand ideas to really make those last two bars your own! Excellent! 🎵

As a fairly decent "band" player learning boogie and trying to return to my solo roots, these are simply the best lessons I've found. While the concepts are familiar, I am picking up tons of new licks, especially since many of these are based more on major blues scales and I have always tended to rely on the minor scale. For me some of the best parts are the intros and outros to the lessons. I had a lot of fun transcribing a few of them.

Jay, this is one of your best and most helpful. Wow! It's packed full of turnaround licks and riffs that are new to me that I'm sure to use. I love the most discordant ones that resolve back to the tonic. I've been playing piano accordion a lot lately trying to reclaim some of the hundreds of Irish dance tunes I've memorized over the years. Use 'em or lose 'em as you must know. But, I'm unstrapping the squeeze box for a bit now to try out some of your turnarounds. Thanks!

Great video! Just a heads up that there's a number of times where an F# is listed as a G# (such as at 2:53). Thanks for posting, this is really helpful

good info. cool left hand pattern towards the end too. I've been on kind of a roll, trying out left hands that just burn my brain, but as i master them, it feels easier to do the next one.

I'm 72 and am teaching myself how to play, my reading is good but I need the notes to help me plod on through. Love boogie and your style fits me. Even if you could guide me to a site that has good stuff 😃, John

I enjoy the music and the instructions but would had rather have them vocally so I don't have to try to read and follow the video at the same time. I am just starting out and it's a little more challenging for me.

In the first descending g#-g the g# chord you are playing has a f# note in the bass but notated as g#. Must say as a beginner I found the general pace of this video too fast, not enough time to digest the chords.
Lots of nice playing but is it really for “beginners”? Eg playing on the off beat hard to start at that tempo. Much easier slower.
It would be good to know the chord names in the final chord section. I think they are descending Eb, D, Db, C which I think is a tritone substitution if 1625 but I’m a beginner so not sure.

There’s a mistake here 2:38 on the notation in the right hand. It should be F# A# C D#
